DIY 3d paper stars. Volume star made from a thin strip of paper

Good afternoon, today I am publishing an article in which I have collected the most different ways make New Year's stars with your own hands. We will make stars paper, cardboard, sew stars from felt, crochet them. You will see simple christmas crafts, accessible to children, as well as complex designs in the shape of a star.

Here are the ideas I collected today in one general pile:

  • Stars made from strips of paper using the quilling technique.
  • Transparent stars with stained glass film.
  • Three-dimensional stars in 3D technology.
  • New Year stars window stickers.
  • New Year's garlands with stars.
  • Six-pointed stars with convex edges.
  • Stars made from cardboard modules.
  • New Year's stars from the newspaper.

So let's start our New Year's star crafts.

Craft idea #1

Paper star

using the QUILING technique.

Here is the first idea - a New Year's star made from strips of paper, twisted and glued using quilling technique.

Even if you are not yet familiar with the technique of twisting paper strips, then you just need look carefully See the photo below to understand how this paper star is made.

First, we assemble the paper strips individually five rays– and then glue them together.

In the photo below, I even highlighted each detail of the paper strips separately - in different colors.

Each ray of a star consists of three short oval twists of paper strips - light green lines. One twist is longer – orange line. AND one rolled paper tape , which wraps all these twists together - in the form of a single frame - the pink line in the photo below.

You yourself will be pleased with how quickly your homemade New Year's paper star turned out. You can make several of these and hang them on christmas tree as decoration.

And using a very similar principle, we can create stars like this. This is also essentially QUILLING. But here the shapes are no longer so smooth and rounded, but more clear and faceted. But the principle is the same.

If you look closely at the photo below, you will see that each of the rays of the star is 2 triangles glued together its longest of three sides.

That is, we cut 10 identical strips of paper. From each we make a paper triangle. We divide all ten triangles into pairs. And we glue each pair together with the long side. We get five rays future star made of paper. Glue the rays together. We close the center of the gluing with an asterisk. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top beam so that you can hang it on the tree by a thread.

New Year's star

FROM toilet paper rolls

And here is the next DIY star idea similar to the previous technique because here, too, round paper loops are glued together. Only the loops here are not glued together from paper strips, but are roll cuts from toilet paper – and a transparent colored film (cling film or colored tape) is stretched over each section.

.

We will need a roll from paper towels or toilet paper. And we will also need multi-colored transparent pieces of film to cover our paper blanks for the star.

Where to get transparent color film for this New Year's star craft.

Option 1 – food grade colored polyethylene.

Option 2 – colored transparent candy wrappers.

Option 3 – colored transparent packaging from bouquets, or gift wrapping in stores with a gift design department.

Option 4 - colored wide tape - sold in construction or finishing stores.

Option 5 - transparent finishing film from a hardware store. It is sold in large rolls, like wallpaper - but they can be bought in any pieces - at least 1 meter, at least 10 cm - cut off from the roll and sold. But first you need to make sure that this film, when separated from the paper base, gives a transparent color - that is, it transmits light. Check it right in the store - peel off a corner of the film from the paper base right on the roll and check it for transparency.

How we will make New Year's transparent stars.

We cut the paper roll into identical ring parts - and bend these parts ray shapes And mid-pentagon for our future star.

To fold the pentagonal center, you need measure the circumference of the roll and divide it into 5 equal parts. And bend in the places marked with a pencil.

And now for every ray of our star we must bend BASE, which in length will coincide with the length of the side of the pentagonal center. To do this, bend the roll along the edge and measure with a ruler half the length of the side of the pentagonal center stars.

Using the same principle, we wrap the remaining rays of the cardboard star in film (or colored tape).

And now our task is to glue all the parts of the star into one - connect the rays with the middle.

The easiest way is a piece of double-sided tape. Scotch tape with sticky edges on both sides.

Or you can spread it with PVA glue and dry it in a pressed form - squeeze it with clothespins

And when assembled, such a star is hung near the window - so that it lets in light and looks like New Year's craft from glass.

By the way.

If you have a glass cutter and colorful pieces of glass left over from old interior doors, then you can make real glass New Year's stars.

New Year's star

using the VEER technique.

In the photo below we see a six-pointed star made of paper. Even a child can do it in a circle children's creativity. You don’t need to draw anything with a compass or make complex calculations. All you need is 1 square sheet of paper, folded into a fan. And another square of newsprint (smaller in size).

A Master Class How to make such a New Year's star with your own hands looks like this. Fold the square sheet into a fan like this: to make six sides– that is, three folds of the fan only (as in the photo below).

Can I get a sheet right away? measure the width and divide this figure into 6 equal parts. And mark these parts with a pencil and make folds along these marks - then we will get a fan of six identical accordion blades.

And if you make patterned slits in such a star (like in a snowflake), you will get a patterned New Year's star made of paper - with a beautiful openwork pattern on their rays.

That is, we supplement the fan itself (still folded) with slits. And then we stitch the middle of the fan with a staple, fold it in half, unfold it in a circle and glue the blades of the meeting halves together.

New Year's star

from twisted triangles.

Here we see a seven-pointed star made of paper. Due to the abundance of rays, it looks more like a snowflake. But if you change the shape of the triangle to a more elongated one, you can get a design with five rays. We place each such tube on a round paper base coated with glue.

Craft idea No. 5

Paper stars

In the form of a garland.

A paper star is often used as an element New Year's garland. Here I propose to consider three ways to make such a star garland for the New Year.

Option #1. Here is the simplest and quick way put stars on a string. You need a sewing machine and star silhouettes cut out of cardboard.

Refill in sewing machine thread, place a star under the machine foot and machine stitch through the star. Moreover, when the line reaches the edge of the star, we do not stop the machine but continue to sew to get a long thread twisted into the line. After a few centimeters of such an empty chain line, we again place a cardboard star.

Option #2. You can make a garland of voluminous stars using the same principle. They are made according to the krishka principle - several star silhouettes made of paper are placed on top of each other and held together by a common machine seam. Or first you can staple these multi-layer stars.

For a garland of paper stars it is not necessary to buy colored paper. You can use pages from old books or a musical staff.

Option #3.

Or you can make a garland of voluminous stars with smoothed edges. If you make holes in such paper stars with a hole punch, then you can stretch the thread through them and we will get a starry New Year's garland.

Here is a clear master class that clearly shows how to make such a three-dimensional 3D star from cardboard with your own hands. As we can see, with a sharp stick under a ruler we iron the arrows of the star. And then the ironed lines will easily bend into the convex folds we need. And we will get a star with faceted rays.

We bend those lines that lead from the center to the tip of the beam outward. And we bend the lines that lead from the center to the interradial point inward.

Craft idea #6

New Year's star

with smoothed edges.

But below is another simple way to make a star out of paper. Here you need a template (the star drawing itself) and a ruler with which we will smooth out equal folds of each face of such a star.

Look at the picture and you will see that this is a simple flat six-pointed star. It was cut out of a flat sheet of paper. And then each edge was bent - in sequence we bend one edge outward, and bend the next edge inward.

To draw a six-pointed star on paper yourself, you can use ruler or compass. First, we measure the distance from the middle of the circle to its edge (that is, we find out the radius of the circle). And then we measure this radius along the entire circumference with a ruler or compass. Only six such radii fit along the entire circle. These marks will be the points of the rays of our star with six rays.

Or you can use the ready-made stencil in the picture below. You can trace it directly from your computer screen, just place a piece of paper on the glowing screen - the star will shine through the paper - and use light pencil lines to trace the outlines (or just the corner points). And then remove the sheet from the screen and circle everything with a bold line.

If you want to increase or decrease size pictures on the screen, this can be done using the buttons of your computer.

Press the button with your left hand Ctrl on your keyboard (it's on bottom row left) - and while the button is pressed, you right hand turn the mouse wheel- forward to increase, back to decrease. And the size of all pictures on the screen changes, increasing or decreasing.

Craft idea No. 7

New Year's star

From paper modules.

But here is a star made of paper, which is folded by connecting individual paper modules together. How exactly to fold such a star out of paper is shown in detail in the diagram below.

These paper New Year stars can be made as independent Christmas tree decorations. As a decorative star for New Year's decorations. Or you can dot a ring for an Advent wreath with these paper stars.

Craft idea #8

New Year's star

From cardboard.

And here simple craft volumetric New Year's star, made of cardboard. Here (as you see in the photo) you need to cut out two identical silhouettes of a five-pointed star from cardboard.

After in each make a cardboard star cut with scissors - in a straight line, leading from the lower interbeam to the upper apex of the beam - but don’t finish it to the end, and stop at the central point of the star.

When we we place one slot on the slot of the second cardboard star– we get a cross-shaped connection of two strips (perpendicular to each other). In the end it turns out 3D star.

Here's an option when 2 stars, also cut out of thick cardboard, do not fit on top of each other - but simply lie on top of each other so that the rays of the upper star are located between the rays of the lower star. If you make openwork slits in such a cardboard star with a blade, the star will look more elegant. And the gold sprinkles will make such a New Year's star completely festive.

Craft idea No. 9

Cardboard stars

DOUBLE SIDED.

Method 1 – four-beam blank

You can make a star with four rays out of paper - then make the same second one and connect them together.

Here is a detailed master class describing how to make 2 blanks with your own hands and connect them together into one star.

Method 1 – three-beam blank.

And these three-dimensional paper stars are also made from two modules, glued one to the other. Only here the module is not made of four beams, but of three.

IN flat view this module has this triangular shape with serif fasteners on all three sides.

We bend the module along the longitudinal line of each of the three corners of the triangle. The cut modules are placed on top of each other using notch-serifs. And it turns out a three-dimensional star with six rays.

Craft idea #10

Paper stars

Using ORIGAMI technique

You can make a star using the origami technique. That is, from an ordinary square sheet of paper WITHOUT USING SCISSORS. This is what distinguishes the fashionable Japanese technique of origami - the art of transforming a square plane into a figure of any complexity.

This star is also obtained from one square sheet of paper. But the process looks quite complicated. But once you understand it, you understand the speed and ease with which these stars appear. And having made 4 such stars, you acquire high-speed automation and can add stars almost blindly.

Here is another star made using the origami technique. Where does it come from a square sheet? paper module. And from such ray modules we create a solid star made of paper.

Craft idea No. 11

New Year's stars

Transparent for the window.

You can make a star out of paper to stick it on the window. Such stars look very elegant. And this is an alternative to the classic paper snowflakes that we are all used to gluing to windows during the Christmas holidays.

Making such a New Year's star out of paper is quite simple. A strip of paper is folded in half. Its ends are curved to give it a pointed shape. We attach the resulting module to a round base sheet. Or we immediately attach it to the window - to an imaginary circle.

Depending on the shape of the folds we made to give our rectangle a pointed shape, we will get different shapes star rays. Thus, by showing some EXPERIMENTAL creativity, we will be able to create more and more designer New Year’s stars for the window.

New Year's stars

from a rolled newspaper.

And here is another star made of paper - or rather, from a sheet of newspaper. Here a thin twist is made from a newspaper spread. You can place copper wire inside the twisted newspaper - this will give additional rigidity to the bent star frame.

After this, the blank star from the newspaper can be decorated. Paint it with paint, wrap it with thread, coat it with glue and cover it with glitter. Or something else according to your imagination.

These are the ideas I have collected for you in this article. Now you know quite a lot of ways to make a star out of paper with your mind and your own hands.

DIY paper star

The following algorithm will help you create many small stars (up to 1.5 cm in length). A large number of such stars look bright and magical. So, to create such a craft, prepare:

  • Colored glossy paper;
  • Scissors.

Let's start creating the craft:

  1. Cut several strips of paper 29x1.1 in length. The width of the strip should be based on the width of future stars.
  2. Make a small loop from the strip and bend it. The end result will be a pentagon.
  3. Press down, turn the rectangle over and work with the long part of the workpiece.
  4. Wrap the strip around the pentagon about ten times (each edge should be wrapped at least twice).
  5. Tuck the edge down. Press on the middle part of the figure, forming the edges of the star.

A lot of multi-colored stars placed in a beautiful vase will look most advantageous in the interior.

Origami paper star

Such stars look impressive if they are created from newspapers or decorative paper. Let's start creating origami:

  1. Fold the square piece of paper in half, then bend the top into a triangle.
  2. Do the first step with the other top of the workpiece.
  3. Place the corner of the rectangle on the opposite side into the bend suppression element from the previous paragraphs.
  4. Bend the rays of the star according to the drawn lines. Cut off the excess part.
  5. If you folded the sheet correctly, it will acquire folds in the shape of a pentagon.
  6. Follow the lines drawn on the sheet and bend them so that you eventually form a star.

Modular origami star

The following craft requires the impressive experience of a needlework master, since it includes many stages of creation. The final craft will impress you with its appearance.

First, prepare ten paper sheets square shape. Let's get started creating a stunning modular star:

  2. Fold one sheet to form a double square.
  3. From another leaf, fold the workpiece so that it forms double triangle.
  4. Insert the triangle into the inside of the square.
  5. Fold the ends of the square into the inside. Do this on two opposite sides.
  6. Unfold the workpiece and bend the protruding corners. This will help create one of the modules.
  7. Create four modules for one star. Connect the modules. They should be attached to each other with side corners. In this case, one corner of one element should rest against the folds of another corner.
  8. Insert the corners from the outside under the folds of the other module.
  9. Connect the modules until they form a single ring.
  10. Spread all the components of the star and place it in a visible place in the room.

Do-it-yourself volumetric star

Volumetric stars are one of the most common decorations for the New Year. They are simple to create and look attractive: this is what makes the blank so popular. Let's begin the process of creating a volumetric star:

Master class on making a three-dimensional star from paper with edges set aside

This is the easiest way to create a beautiful three-dimensional star that even a child can make.

To make it you will need the following materials:

  • colored paper or cardboard;
  • Printer;
  • compass and protractor;
  • ruler;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

A three-dimensional star with edges set aside can be made from paper and cardboard, just keep in mind that cardboard will make a denser craft that will not fall apart and straighten out if you make single stars.

Making a three-dimensional star - instructions:

  • There are several ways to create such a star: using a template and without it. Let's look at the features of each option.
  • For the most simple option you will need a piece of paper in the color you like. You need to make an even square out of it.

Volumetric star made of paper. Method 1

  • After this, the square needs to be folded diagonally and the fold should be smoothed out well. To do this, you can use a ruler or a regular pencil. Next, the square needs to be expanded.
  • At the next stage, you need to fold the square in half and in half again so that the fold point is facing you. In this case, the fold line should stick out.
  • In front of you will be a rectangle, conventionally divided into two squares. The square on the right side must be folded diagonally, and then on the opposite side also diagonally. In this case, we make the folds inward, not outward.
  • Next, take the bottom corner of the workpiece and bend it to the center of the intersection of the diagonal lines in the conditional right square.
  • After this, this bent part of the workpiece must be bent in the opposite direction so that a bag-like shape comes out. In the right square, bend it diagonally towards the center of the rectangle.

  • The resulting figure must be bent along the center fold line away from you, as shown in the figure. This way you will get a figure similar to a triangle and a bag.
  • At the next stage, as shown in the figure, you need to bend the upper part of the workpiece. Draw a dotted line along this fold line for the cut.
  • Next, take scissors and trim off the excess part of the workpiece. in this case, we will subsequently form a volumetric star from the lower part.
  • Unfold the folded triangle and straighten it a little - you have a simple and beautiful star.

Volumetric star made of paper. Method 2

Such an asterisk can be made using a compass and ruler.

  • First of all, you need to draw a circle of the diameter you need on a piece of paper. To do this, you can use a compass or any round plate or saucer.
  • After this, draw a straight line from the center to the upper edge of the circle.
  • Next, you will need a protractor to measure equal spaces between the lines. Place the protractor on the drawn line and set aside 72 degrees. Draw a straight line from the center to the edge of the circle.
  • This way you need to do it around the entire circle - you will get 5 lines.

  • Next, all the lines must be connected in the form of an asterisk. Through each beam you also need to draw straight lines exactly through their middle; you can make them dotted, as they will serve as a guide for the fold.
  • Use a dotted line to connect the center of the star with the obtuse angles in the middle of the figure.
  • After this, the star needs to be cut out and bent so that the long lines are bent outward and the short dotted lines are bent inward. This creates a three-dimensional star.

Volumetric star made of paper. Method 3

This method is the simplest, since to obtain a three-dimensional star, download a three-dimensional star template from the Internet and cut it out.

  • Such templates must be printed on a printer, cut out, and then bent along the drawn lines. The gluing areas are designed to create voluminous double-sided stars, which are perfect for creating garlands and Christmas tree decorations.

Volumetric star made of paper. Method 4

With the help of such a voluminous star you can make beautifully decorated decorations for the room and for the New Year tree. For example,

Master class on making a three-dimensional five-pointed star for a Christmas tree

Let's look at the process of creating a beautiful five-pointed star that can be used to decorate the top of a Christmas tree.

For manufacturing you need to use the following materials:

  • thick paper or cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • glitter;
  • tinsel;
  • wire.

Manufacturing process:

  • First of all, you need to cut out two stars from thick cardboard. This must be done according to the above-described schemes for manufacturing a volumetric star with bent edges. As already noted, you can draw a star using a compass or simply download a ready-made template from the Internet.
  • Next, the resulting stars must be bent along the existing lines to obtain volume and glued together. If you have chosen a template with special places for gluing, then you can use glue. You just need to glue the stars with tape.
  • Before gluing the two halves, you can put cotton wool or paper inside the future star to give the craft density and volume.

  • Next, take a medium-thick wire and wind it onto a piece of wood in a spiral. The length of the spiral will depend on the top of your tree. Break off the excess piece of wire.
  • After this, insert the wire into the central lower part of the star.
  • At the next stage of making a three-dimensional five-pointed star from paper, the entire surface of the craft must be covered with glue, and then sprinkled with silver or golden sparkles.
  • Let the glue dry, then spray both sides of the star with hairspray to secure the glitter.
  • You can hide the junction of the two halves with tinsel. To do this, take thin tinsel of silver or golden hue(matching the color of the sparkles) and use glue to glue the stars to the edging.
  • Your Christmas tree star is ready.

Beautiful five-pointed star You can do it in a slightly different way. Let's consider detailed description the process of creating such a craft.

Necessary materials:

  • thick multi-colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • Printer;
  • glue;
  • decoration elements.

Manufacturing process:

  • First of all, you need to print out the templates that will make up this volumetric star. The first template will help to make a small star, and the 2nd template (you need to print 2 times) and 3 will make a large star.

  • You cut out five parts, after which you need to bend them according to the drawn lines so that you end up with the rays of a star.
  • It is necessary to glue the star in such a way that the places where the glue is applied are inside the craft. In this way, we gradually combine all the prepared elements to obtain a complete decoration.
  • Templates can be decorated in advance using a figured hole punch or cut out various patterns by hand.

How to make an eight-pointed three-dimensional star - step-by-step instructions

Such a star made of paper or cardboard is perfect for decorating the interior for the New Year holidays, as a pendant on a wall or window, or as a holiday gift.

For work you will need the following materials:

  • multi-colored thick paper or cardboard;
  • a simple pencil and scissors;
  • glue;
  • threads for hanging stars and

Manufacturing process:

  • Work on creating the next author's masterpiece must begin with two square leaves of the same size.
  • Each leaf needs to be folded in half along a horizontal plane and along a vertical plane.
  • After this, place the leaves face down on the table and roll each one diagonally in two directions.
  • You should end up with 4 convex lines, which will represent the 4 rays of the star.
  • Next, take scissors and make cuts half the length of the lines perpendicular to the folds, as shown in the figure.
  • At the next stage, you need to bend the paper on both sides of each curved line, as indicated in the picture, to get 4 rays of the future eight-pointed star.
  • One of the two sides of each beam must be well lubricated with glue and connected to the second side.
  • This way you will get two four-pointed stars that need to be glued together to get a beautiful three-dimensional paper star.
  • At the last stage, you can hang the star on a beautiful thread from the ceiling or on the wall and decorate the craft with sparkles or multi-colored ribbons.

Master class on making a simple three-dimensional cardboard star

Here is a detailed description of how to make one of the simplest three-dimensional stars, which are ideal for decorating a New Year tree.

Necessary materials:

  • multi-colored cardboard or thick paper;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • simple pencil;
  • decorative elements for decoration.

Manufacturing process:

  • Prepare some cardboard and draw two identical stars on it. This can be done by hand, but it is best to use a template or draw stars, as described in the first master class.
  • After the two stars are drawn, they need to be cut out.
  • Next, using a pencil and a ruler, draw one straight line on each star as follows: on one star, the cut should go from top to center, and on the second star, from the bottom from the inner corner to the middle of the star.
  • After this, we connect the two stars by inserting the hole of one star into the slot of the other. Thus, we get a beautiful 3D star made of cardboard, which can be decorated to your liking: sprinkled with glitter, decorated with paints, beads, ribbons or CD fragments.

This method of creating a three-dimensional star is distinguished by its simplicity and speed of execution. The origami technique has long found its fans, so it is not surprising that with its help you can make beautiful and original stars for the New Year's interior. The star turns out to be a prefabricated one, for the creation of which it is necessary to prepare the required number of templates, which are subsequently easily and quickly assembled into the original star.

Necessary materials:

  • multi-colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

Manufacturing process:

  • To create a three-dimensional star using the origami technique, you can use paper of several colors, pages of books and magazines. This will allow you to make a very beautiful and unusual craft with your own hands.
  • Next, from the selected sheets of paper you need to cut the number of identical squares you need. As a guide, remember that from one sheet you will get a small eight-pointed three-dimensional star. The more squares, the more crafts you can get.
  • The process of making a star using the origami technique is quite simple, the main thing is to understand the sequence.

  • The square must be folded diagonally, and then folded to the resulting line on each side.
  • Next, in the same way, you need to fold the sides at the bottom of the workpiece diagonally to the resulting fold.
  • After this, the upper part is bent obliquely and a ruler is drawn tightly along the fold to obtain clear lines.
  • Turn your workpiece over; on the reverse side two intersecting lines are clearly visible, which will be a further guide for creating the parts of the star.
  • Along these two lines, fold all the blanks and draw out figures that resemble small birds - these are the components of the future three-dimensional star using the origami technique.
  • In the same way, make all the blanks and slowly connect them into one star.
  • For the first time, such a process may seem quite complicated, but if you clearly understand the drawings of creating a star, you will succeed quickly.

Volumetric star of happiness using origami technique - manufacturing instructions

Using small stars made in this way, you can get original decoration interior design, designing postcards and creating unusual garlands for the New Year tree.

Necessary materials:

  • multi-colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • fishing line or thread to create a garland.

Manufacturing process:

  • First of all, you need to remember that such beautiful stars are made from pre-cut strips of paper, the size of which must be strictly maintained.
  • From the prepared sheets of paper, cut strips of paper of the following sizes: 221 mm in length and 9 mm in width.

  • Take one strip and make a loop at one end, as shown in Figure 2.
  • Next, take a short ponytail and wrap it in a loop and tie it in a knot, being careful not to tear the paper. Then carefully tighten the resulting knot and hide the end of the ponytail inside the resulting pentagon, as shown in Figures 5 and 6.

  • We will get an even pentagon, as shown in Figures 7 and 8. Next long tail strips of paper we begin to make wraps on each side of our star. It is necessary to make approximately 12-15 wraps, with each side being wrapped approximately 2-3 times. An example is shown in Figures 9, 10, 11 and 12.

  • At the next stage, you need to carefully hide the tail of the strip inside the resulting star. Do everything carefully so as not to damage the structure.
  • Next, our still-yet blank needs to be turned into a beautiful star. To do this, hold it in one hand and lightly press each of the five edges in their center with the fingers of the other to end up with a beautiful star.

How to make a three-dimensional surprise star from cardboard - instructions

In addition to the usual holiday decorations in the form of stars, you can make original gift- a star-box or a surprise star, inside of which you can put some small surprise or sprinkle some candy.

Necessary materials:

  • thick cardboard of any color;
  • scissors;
  • star pattern;
  • glue;
  • decorative elements for decoration.

Manufacturing process:

  • First of all, you need to make a star template of the size you need. To do this, you can download your favorite star from the Internet or draw it by hand or using a compass. After this, cut out the template and draw stars on the cardboard prepared in advance.
  • If you want to get a star-box, then in the center of the stars you need to cut a round hole so that you can put something in it.
  • We leave the bottom star intact, and on it we begin to glue the prepared star blanks with a round hole in the center.
  • The height of your star will depend on the thickness of the cardboard and the size of the box you need.
  • Next we need to make a lid for our box. To do this, glue several stars without a round hole in the center. To ensure that the lid closes tightly, glue several circles at the bottom of the star, the same diameter as the hole in the box.
  • To make it easier to find the cap, you can make a special bookmark.
  • You can decorate such a voluminous star-box in your own way: with sparkles, flowers, ribbons, or paint it with paints.

How to make a large three-dimensional star from book pages - instructions

Here is a description of how to make a very beautiful and large three-dimensional star from book pages that can be used to decorate front door or a fireplace for the New Year holidays. To create such a masterpiece, it is recommended to use unnecessary technical books.

Necessary materials:

  • thick cardboard for the star;
  • book pages;
  • golden paint and glitter;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

Manufacturing process:

  • First of all, we need to start by making two stars for the base of our craft. You can use ready-made samples, but you can also make such templates yourself. Alternatively, search on the Internet suitable template and print it out, then attach it to the cardboard and trace it. This way you will get the necessary blanks. You can make a three-dimensional star from cardboard, as was described in the first master class of the article.
  • Next, you need to paint our blanks with gold or other paint, the main thing is that this shade can be traced throughout the craft.
  • Glue the two parts of the star together and let dry.
  • At this time, make the dough balls. To do this, cut one page of the book into 4 parts and roll each into little balls.

  • After this, spread a little glue and start gluing the blanks onto the star prepared in advance in such a way as to maintain the realistic shape of the star.

  • After the star has dried, coat each piece of paint with glue and sprinkle them with golden glitter. If you decide to hang a large three-dimensional star made of book pages on the front door, attach a beautiful ribbon to its top and tie a bow at the top.
  • A beautiful and original decoration is ready.

Even a child can make crafts from paper and cardboard, so this exciting activity is worth doing with the whole family. Especially when it comes to preparing for such beloved holidays as New Year and Christmas, where large quantity you need stars corresponding to the attribute, which can also be made from paper and cardboard with your own hands.

These large, voluminous, star-shaped ones made of paper came to us from Sweden and Scandinavian traditions. Today, for several years now, these stars have been one of the Christmas and New Year trends throughout Europe and even in the USA. Which is not surprising: their charm, both when lit and when extinguished, evokes the most festive mood. They are hung in the house and on the street, in clubs and cafes, placed on shelves, placed on festive table on special thin high holders and are even attached to the tops of decorated Christmas trees, like a classic symbolic Star of Bethlehem.

These stars are glued together from music paper, from filigree-cut (like) modules, from colored, waxed and tissue paper. They are made plain and colored, simple and decorated. You can glue a huge and small star, with long or short tops, a classic five-pointed, 18-pointed or even a ball in this style - the choice is yours. First, let's look at the basics of creating such a star, then discuss design options and how to implement them.

To you will be required:
— Thick paper (the thickest for a printer) or very thin cardboard (or thin sheets of easy-to-cut plastic), as well as, if desired, colored paper or scrapbooking paper with prints;
— Access to the printer;
— Scissors of different sizes - from long to manicure;
— Stationery knife (optional);
— Glue or good double-sided adhesive tape;
- Needle and thread;
- Unnecessary newspapers.

Collecting a star:

1. Print out the template of one vertex for the star from here. In the pdf file you will find templates for stars in three different sizes - choose according to your taste. Later, starting from them, you can model the stars individual form and size.

For a small star, all 5 vertices fit on one page; for large ones, you will have to print several pages if you make a star from plain white paper. If your printer is capable of printing on thin colored paper, make sure you print on the back - white - side of it.

If you just need a template for colored paper - which you will then trace with a pencil on the back of the colored sheets - print only 1 template from all presented in the file. If the colored paper is too thin to create the star, simply glue it onto thin sheets of white printer paper first and let the glue dry.

2. Cut out the parts from the template along solid lines (dotted lines are fold lines). Bend the parts along the dotted lines.

For now, for the first craft, you need 5 of these pieces. Then you will calculate and set the quantity yourself.

3. We glue each module on the side using a tongue specially provided in the template. We make sure that each time we glue the tongue inside the modules, and not outside. We add a little bit of glue so that it does not protrude beyond the edges and leave marks on the paper.

You can always use high-quality double-sided adhesive tape for these purposes - it will hold just as well, and many will find it easier (and faster) to work with it. But really hot bulbs can melt the tape, so choose your material wisely and be careful!

4. Take 2 modules and glue them in pairs using the 2 lower tabs of the first module like this - see the picture below. The tongues go inside the second module.

5. We glue two paired modules and the remaining one in the same way into a star. At the same time, we do not glue the first and last modules together (if you want to place a light source inside the star; if your star is a simple decoration without lighting, feel free to glue these modules with their edges). Instead, we cut two identical long ropes from yarn of medium thickness (or take two thin ribbons), glue the tip of the first one (at least 5 cm) or pull it into the hole from the inside to the outside of the first module from the bottom (if you decide to “sew in”, do it at the tip of the rope/ribbon a larger knot, you can also string a small circle of cardboard onto the top of the knot to seal it; finally, sew the ropes/ribbons no more than 2-3 cm from the bottom edges of the modules), the tip of the second is inside the second module. Wait for the glue to dry if you used it. Using these strings you can tie the cones so that the star retains its shape.

Or you can take one long rope and thread it through the holes of both modules - also from the inside out. This method is not suitable if you will be putting inside the star Christmas garland.

Here the ropes are sewn in the middle of both modules, but this is not aesthetically pleasing, and most people don’t do this. By the way, tying the ropes will be quite difficult, so be patient and/or ask someone with longer and thinner fingers to do it (or just help you - hold the first knot).

6. We completely insert a short Christmas tree garland with a battery-powered control unit inside the star (we place the unit right next to the hole in the star) and then tie the strings onto a bow - so that later you can easily untie them and turn the garland on/off or change the battery in the garland as needed. See below for lighting source options.

7. What’s remarkable is that when you untie the strings and take out the light source, your star folds perfectly into this multi-layered flat shape for absolutely safe storage - and takes up almost no space!

IMPORTANT : Although your stars are not connected to the network, for safety reasons do not leave them on without supervision, as sometimes the bulbs get quite hot, which can cause a fire. The optimal type of light bulbs for these luminaires is compact fluorescent light bulbs and, of course, light-emitting diode (LED) light bulbs, which are usually - usually! - remain relatively cold.

Alternative light source for the Swedish star lamp - also switchable:

1. Buy separate small LED bulbs (1 bulb per star, the optimal length of the bulb is about 10 mm; available for free sale both on the RuNet and in real construction supermarkets), a set of large flat round batteries (CR2032; 1 battery - 1 light bulb) and the same number of small flat neodymium magnets (available for sale). Also prepare transparent or matte regular tape - you can use separate rolls of tape 1.9 and 1.2 cm wide - and any double-sided tape. The coin in the picture below is just for clarity of size.

2. From cardboard we cut rectangles 4.5 cm long and the same number of rectangles 1.9 cm long. Their width should be slightly larger than the width of a large flat battery. The number of such paired parts is equal to the number of stars you want to illuminate. We buy a set of seals for the holes (if you find them on sale) or cut rings from the same cardboard (the diameter of the ring is equal to the width of the strip).

3. Glue the ring onto the tip of a longer cardboard rectangle. The glue has dried - cut out a hook like this on this tip. For convenience, a hole in the center can be made with a hole punch.

5. We shorten the antenna wires of the LED light bulb with wire cutters by about 0.6 cm. This can be done or not - depending on the size of your star - so that the light bulb then hangs strictly in the center of the star. Moreover, if you do cut, do it at the same angle at which the tendrils were cut initially, so that one tendril remains shorter than the second.

7. Now we squeeze the battery with tape - completely sealed edge first - between the antennae of the LED light bulb, with the longer antennae going to the positive side of the battery, and the shorter one on the back side of the battery. And we stop the longer tendril at the edge of the tape so that the wire does not touch the battery. If you are not sure which antenna is supposed to be attached to which side of the battery, push the battery deeper so that both antennas touch their sides of the battery: if they are placed correctly, the light will light up - and then pull the battery back to the desired level; If it does not light up, swap the antennae on the battery.

8. Glue the battery with the light bulb, back side down, to the bottom of the cardboard label - to double-sided tape - and securely fix it in place and underneath with the tape that was originally glued to the battery. Be careful - don't move it upper antenna light bulbs beyond the border of the tape.

And here's how it works: we apply a magnet simultaneously to the free tip of the antennae from the light bulb and to a large battery - and the light bulb turns on. The magnet will attract the battery and it will “sit” in place quite firmly. We turn the cardboard with the magnet over to the other side (magnet up) - and again apply it to the large battery - and the light turns off, but the cardboard with the magnet still stays in place. That's the whole secret!

For such a label with a light bulb, the connecting rope on the star on top must be made solid so that the label can be hung on it by a hook.

Design options for classic Swedish star-shaped lamps:

1. Buy shaped hole punchers and make shaped holes in the bent but not yet glued star modules (after step 2) - as symmetrically as possible or simply in a random order. These can be completely different figures from stars and months to hearts and flowers, or you can use only 1 type of figures (and also one or different sizes). Classic voluminous Swedish stars usually come with shaped holes, and not made of solid paper.

2. Having outlined with a pencil the same design of large slots on each module that has not yet been glued together (it is optimal to do this using a single cardboard template - for complete symmetry of the pattern on the finished star), place each module on a stack of newspapers or a special mat for cutting and cut out with a stationery or craft knife this design.

4. The top of the stars can be decorated with a pencil or rhinestones, sparkles or additional details made of colored paper, but, as a rule, the patterns in these cases are made very simple and as discreet as possible, so as not to distract from the simple graceful beauty of the star itself. It’s just the way it’s done according to the classics, the rest is up to your discretion!

5. Glue thin colored paper onto thin white paper (so that light can pass through better) before cutting out the modules - and you will get not white, but colored star.

6. If you have 5 sheets of paper with the same large pattern, you can, by overlaying and tracing the pattern in a strictly defined place on the patterns, cut modules with the pattern in the center, and then, as described in paragraph 2, cut out individual specific parts of this pattern on all modules. You can again stick colored tissue paper under the cut out areas, or you can just leave the holes as is.

Add additional ears to all the lower edges - and you can glue a pointed “ball” instead of a star.

And it doesn’t matter whether you made a complex pattern on the star or a simple one - in any case it will look amazing!

Happy New Year!
