Quilling - New Year's crafts. Master class "New Year card using quilling and scrapbooking techniques" Christmas quilling panel

During the Christmas holidays, it is customary to give gifts and cards with pleasant congratulations. A self-made postcard will become a great gift on this occasion. These cards are made from different materials using Christmas themed decorations.

DIY Christmas card using quilling technique

This card can be made using the quilling technique. This is a postcard made of paper, which is decorated with patterns and ornaments. Paper strips are twisted into flagella, and a certain pattern is created.

To work you will need:

  • Quilling paper (blue and dark blue light).
  • Base for the postcard (designer milky cardboard with mother-of-pearl).
  • PVA glue.
  • Brush.
  • Glue gun.
  • Liquid pearls.
  • Manicure scissors.

Manufacturing process

  • Take one paper strip for quilling blue color, cut off the required length of about 10 cm, bend the tip of the strip into scissors and begin to wind the strip onto the scissors. You need to wind it not very tightly with your fingers, remove the scissors and get a pattern.
  • To give the pattern the desired shape, you need to squeeze the workpiece on one side with your fingers, the result will be a petal. The edge of the petal is greased with PVA glue and the tail is glued to the main workpiece.
  • The next petal is made using the same principle, only it is given a different shape. To do this, squeeze both sides of the petal. A workpiece of a different shape is obtained.
  • Depending on the size of the postcard, you will need a certain number of such blanks. They are made of blue and dark blue stripes.
  • To make a twig, take a strip of quilling paper and roll it into the same flagellum. Then the workpiece is unraveled, and scissors are passed along the free end, twisting it in the other direction.
  • Take the base for the postcard, which will be milky designer cardboard with mother-of-pearl, and fold it in half.
  • A circle is made from a blue stripe on the cover of the postcard. To do this, take a glue gun, apply a little silicone glue to the cover, secure the tip and use small droplets of glue so that they are not visible at all. Cut off the excess tip and begin to decorate.
  • All elements that were prepared in advance are added to the main branch. To do this, lubricate the tip of the branch with a glue gun and lubricate the ball. The tip is applied to the main branch, and the ball to the cover. Excess glue is removed; it should not remain on the card.
  • Take the dark blue part, coat it with glue and attach it to the card in the same way.
  • After the entire composition has been laid out and glued onto the postcard, liquid pearls are added in small droplets.

DIY Christmas card with an angel

A children's Christmas card can be made using paper technique with an angel. To do this, make a base for the card itself, and then decorate it with main decorations and small details.

To work you will need:

  • Paper base for a postcard.
  • Glue gun.
  • PVA glue.
  • Two square sheets of paper 7x7 cm.
  • Curly scissors.

Manufacturing process

  • Take two squares of paper 7x7 cm and fold them like an accordion into 16 steps. The edges of each sheet are pre-cut with curly scissors.
  • Take one accordion, fold it along the folds and bend one third of it. These will be angel wings. They need to be made the same size, so do the same with the second accordion. To do this, it is applied to the first accordion and a fold is made at the same distance.
  • Coat the folds with glue and glue the wing to the base. They do the same with the second accordion.
  • In order to make a head for an angel, take a strip of paper approximately 30 cm long (you can use quilling paper), and the width should be equal to the width of the edge on the workpiece. This strip begins to be twisted in a circle. To prevent the strip from unfolding, you can lubricate it with a little glue. You can attach a bead to the center. The last turn is made very loose to create an imaginary halo over the angel's head. The tip of the strip is coated with glue and glued to the base.
  • Three parts are assembled. To do this, coat both side parts of the angel along the edges with PVA glue and glue them together, placing the angel’s head in the upper part and fixing it.
  • An angel is placed on the base of the card and glued to a glue gun. Additionally, the postcard is decorated with various small details to suit every taste.

One of the common techniques for making cards is scrapbooking. To do this, use special scrap paper, which is glued to the base of the postcard. This technique uses various ribbons and decorative paper cutouts, pictures and fragments from postcards. All this will perfectly complement a Christmas card. You can limit yourself to drawings cut out of thick colored paper. They perfectly emphasize the individuality of each work.

There are many master classes on this topic. Using photos and videos, you can create a real masterpiece.

How to make a beautiful and unusual card using the quilling technique: tips and reviews

Pauline: “I mastered the quilling technique by accident. I was surfing the Internet and saw beautiful curls. The thought immediately arose that this was not mine. But then I came across detailed master class, and learned the technique from it. Now I already have a quilling kit and am happy to make cards. A very interesting and exciting activity.”

Valeria: “My daughter makes cards like this at school. It turns out very beautifully, and I was especially struck by the work of their teacher. I haven’t tried to make such cards myself, but I think it’s a very labor-intensive process.”

Irina: “I have already been familiar with quilling for 3 years. I want to say that everything is not as complicated as it might seem. I just saw beautiful flowers and wanted to make the same ones. Buying regular colored paper and cutting the strips yourself is cheaper than buying ready-made kits, but you need to get used to cutting out the strips. Now I delight my loved ones with postcards and paintings.”

If you liked quilling style cards and you have free time, if you are a creative person with a rich imagination, try making the same ones. We will be glad if you share your creativity with us.

Night. Freezing. The stars are sparkling
From the heights of heaven.
All covered in snow, like ermines,
The quiet forest sleeps.
Silence all around. Glade
Sleeping in the arms of sleep,
Swims out from behind the forest
The moon is on watch.
The stars are going out. They're pouring from the sky
Pale rays
Frosty snow sparkled
Silver brocade.
Branches spread wide
In a snow coat,
There is a Christmas tree in the middle of the clearing.
It went up like an arrow.
To the beauty of the forest
The moonlight has fallen
And the lights of ice crystals
Played in the branches.
Diamond threads
Entwined in pine needles,
Emeralds and rubies
They lit up in the snow.
A clear star near the Christmas tree
The head is glowing...
The great day is coming -
Christmas holiday! (Peter Morozov)

Materials required for work:
Paper strips for quilling 10mm, 0.5mm wide and 30cm long;
Thick blue cardboard;
PVA glue;
Toothpick;
Beads;
Ruler-stencil.

Step by step process doing the work
Take strips 10 mm wide and cut into noodles, not reaching the edge 2-3 mm.

We wrap the strip around a toothpick, glue the end, and fluff it up.

We make the required number of parts.

Take strips of red color, twist them onto a toothpick, and glue the end. Squeeze with fingers on both sides.
We will need 5 parts.

Let's start collecting the Christmas tree.

Glue the red parts to form a star.

For the angel we will need the following parts:
We will work with white strips 0.5 mm wide.
1. Take a strip, twist it onto a toothpick, unroll the roll to a diameter of 13 mm, and glue the end. Squeeze with fingers on both sides.

We make 14 parts.

2. Take a strip, twist it onto a toothpick, unravel it to a diameter of 14 mm, and glue the end. Squeeze with your fingers on one side. The result is a “drop” detail.

We will need 4 parts with a diameter of 14 mm, 12 parts with a diameter of 11 mm, 2 parts with a diameter of 16 mm.

3. Take a strip, twist it onto a toothpick, and glue the end. This detail is called a “tight roll”.
We will need 5 parts.

4. Take a strip, twist it onto a toothpick, unravel it to a diameter of 14 mm, and glue the end. We squeeze on both sides, simultaneously lifting the corners.
You will need 1 piece.

5. We glue two strips together and form a circle with a diameter of 20 mm.

We collect the angel.

Similarly, we assemble the angel on the other side of the base.

We take white strips 0.5 mm wide, wind them onto a toothpick, and spread them out to a diameter of 14 to 17 mm.

We prepare the “tight roll” part.

Glue it to the base.

We take pink beads and glue them to the angels, forming a headband, and to the Christmas tree.

The quilling technique is a convex image of drawings. Made from thinly cut strips of paper. You can make patterns, flowers, snowflakes and much more. My tutorial is a poinsettia flower for a Christmas card. The technique can be used in scrapbooking and cardmaking.

Quilling is an old technique with a new name. Now stores sell tapes specifically for quilling. Previously, needlewomen were forced to cut them with scissors made of 5 mm colored paper. I also didn’t have any ribbons on hand, so I used New Year’s serpentine. For this technique we need paper and a thin awl or knitting needle. If the pattern is small, then a needle will do.

1. Carefully screw the roller onto the awl.

2. I will be making poinsettia petals, so the petals need to be the same. I measured a few centimeters on a piece of paper. I make the roller about 7 mm thick.

3. Now the roller needs to be loosened. I measured 2.5 cm - this will be the length of my petals. Using the same awl, I evenly distribute the roller. Since the petal is a separate part, I immediately glued the end of the paper and it will no longer increase in size.

4. Now I form a petal with my fingers and press the petal firmly to the very center.

5. From green paper I form two green petals. These are the petals I got. They can be different in length and thickness.

6. Now I lay out the finished flower on paper, outline the petals with a pencil and use PVA glue to glue the places on which I will then glue the petals.

I decorate simple cardboard. To do this, I apply PVA glue in random order and sprinkle it thickly with glitter. After it dries completely, I shake it off.

All that remains is to assemble the finished parts. I add real thuja branches to the work. You can see how to tint them.

And I collect everything onto the main cardboard. This is the card I got.
