  • For decoration - beads, seed beads, rhinestones, small decorative ornaments in the form of insects (butterflies, ladybugs).
  • Cardboard or ball, plastic bag.

Stages of creation

To create large flowers in the kanzashi style, two methods can be used; we will consider both so that everyone can choose the most suitable and simple option for themselves. Master class No. 1:

  • We cut the satin ribbon into 7 cm lengths. Fold it in half and cut it at an angle using a soldering iron.

  • On the other hand, we wrap the tape in the opposite direction, singe the edge, due to which the two ends of the tape are connected. We make the required number of blank petals, which depends on the desired size of the flower.

  • We take cardboard and draw a circle along which we will glue the petals. The larger the diameter, the larger the resulting accessory. Glue all the petals in a circle.

The second option for creating kanzashi involves creating a large, round, convex flower:

  • Cover the ball with a plastic bag. The size of the finished product depends on the diameter of the ball.
  • We make petals that will serve as the basis of the product.
  • Using a thread and a needle, we connect the seven finished petals into a circle and secure them. A small flower comes out, which we attach to our ball in the center.
  • Next we glue the petals, placing them between the elements of the previous row.
  • We glue one more element to the petals of the first row, and two on each side to the parts of the third.
  • By analogy, we glue the remaining petals until we get a flower of the desired size.
  • We remove the ball and plastic bag, our masterpiece is ready.

Since ancient times, flowers have emphasized tenderness and beauty, giving a unique look to any outfit.

Flowers decorate hairstyles, hats, decorate bodices of dresses or enliven the skirts of elegant dresses.

In the clothing collections of European designers, fabric flowers have already taken a strong place as a way to emphasize femininity and beauty.

Fabric flowers are used not only to decorate clothes, but also for accessories and decorations.

Fabric flowers can be created realistic or fantasy - lush roses and chrysanthemums, delicate lilies and irises, scarlet poppies, snow-white daisies.

Cut several layers of different sizes from the fabric.

Make sure that the flower petals bend in one direction. To do this, it is best to hold the flower above the flame, carefully lowering it and watching how the petals curl.

When the edges of all the flowers are processed, we assemble them into finished flowers. To do this, we insert smaller flowers into larger ones like nesting dolls in descending order of size. You get two flowers like this.

We select the central bead and sew it into the middle, at the same time fastening all our flowers in the middle into one voluminous flower.

Then we select small beads or beads and sew them around the central bead

You can arrange fabrics with different textures and colors. The main thing is that they look harmonious together.

If, instead of the shape of a flower, you simply cut out circles from fabric and also process their edges with a candle, then you can assemble a flower of a different shape.

You can also use a couple of petals made of mesh and lace, don’t melt them, just cut them out. In the example, 18 circles of different sizes were used for the central flower, the largest being 12 cm in diameter (before melting).

To get fluffy flowers, you can fold some of your circles in half or into quarters.

Sew the petals in the center to provide shape. Sew beads and pearls. Place the flowers close together on the satin ribbon and secure with pins.

For creativity, cut three leaves from more coarse fabric and insert them under the flower petals.

From the leftovers satin ribbon cut out thin feathers, singe the edges, insert under the petals. Once the bouquet is completely ready, sew it to the ribbon.

Japanese style in action

IN modern world fashionistas began to use their toiletries decorated with flowers using the kanzashi technique. This is an old handicraft invented by the Japanese, and is still in great demand today. The most popular model of this style is a flower with different shapes petals, round or pointed edges, for example, chamomile, rose, chrysanthemum and others. The girl's image becomes more feminine and eye-catching thanks to the decoration in the form of a delicate flower with bright colorful petals created from fabrics.

Connoisseurs of decorative art say that fabric products in the kanzashi style will never go out of fashion and will always bring charm and individuality to women.

Before you start creative process, there are a few important points to remember:

  • Choose the right fabric.
  • Connecting flower parts.
  • Slicing methods.
  • Heat treatment of fabric.

The most suitable and convenient material to use would be a regular satin ribbon. It can be heat treated, easily cut with scissors, and holds the shape of the finished product well. This the best option for beginner needlewomen. More experienced craftswomen are capable of working with natural silks, nylon and other varieties.

When connecting individual parts of a flower, kanzashi prefer the process of stitching with a needle and thread. You can use glue, but the requirements for it are as follows: dry quickly, leave no marks, hold individual parts of the craft as a whole.

For smooth and accurate cutting there is convenient way, wrap the tape several times around the cardboard template, pull it off and cut it into several pieces at once. The edges are trimmed with sharp scissors. There is another simple way: bend the tape diagonally and cut it. Using the finished template, cut out the required number of blanks.

To melt pieces of fabric and give individual parts a shape, matches and a regular lighter are used. A wax candle will help beginners.

Japanese specialists glue the edges of textiles with rice adhesive, which leaves no marks, and does not use fire treatment.

The disadvantage of this method for inexperienced needlewomen is that such glue takes a long time to dry. If you use a candle to melt the tip of the strip, you need to trim it a few millimeters and then process it at the base of the flame.

An accessory consisting of a fabric flower is universal. With such decoration you can appear both at a magnificent celebration and in the office, at presentations and business receptions. The flower must be correctly selected, depending on color and size. Professional craftsmen who are fond of the “silk floristry” style use classical methods to create textile flowers.

Even if it’s raining outside, decorating in the form of an elegant fabric flower will help make this day bright and memorable. And if you make it yourself, then wearing it will become more desirable and enjoyable.

In a work environment, in the office, appropriate decorations are selected. If you wear a brooch to work with a bright and large item that attracts everyone's attention, this is inappropriate. At a cheerful friendly party, a strict and stylish accessory will not suit the frivolous image of a lady.

For the worker business suit Floral brooches made of fabric that matches the set, such as tweed, are suitable. A formal, formal dress will be brightened up with a small, modest rose. If such a cold dress is complemented with a lush chrysanthemum, then in such an outfit you can go anywhere after work, for example, to a restaurant.

A small bright aster looks great with a white office blouse.

When choosing accessories while walking, you can relax and give free rein to your imagination. You can use products of any size that are bright and original. Poppies and orchids made from fabrics will be combined with this image.

In the summer of limited choice bright jewelry does not exist, you can safely wear the most unusual jewelry.

When going for a walk, you don’t need to add sparkling items to your wardrobe that are more suitable for the evening.

A feminine, delicate image is emphasized by products made from airy and light materials.

In winter, the decoration palette becomes calm and pastel.

Autumn is characterized by a warm range of colors that will make the dull season brighter and more cheerful.

In addition to festive outfit Graceful bouquets made of silk are suitable.

The option looks original when the textural properties of the flower are completely opposite to the structural fabric of the outfit.

A wonderful contrast will be obtained by combining sparkling accessories and the dullness of the festive toilet. Textile products have an excellent ability to transform a simple modest dress into an elegant one festive outfit. You can try attaching a homemade flower to a work dress, and the image of its wearer will change radically.

Decorations for children

Children can create flowers from fabric with their own hands according to patterns using templates, of course with the help of adults. Every child is looking forward to holidays, especially birthday. Parents are more worried than the hero of the occasion, because they want to make this day unforgettable for their child.

You can start preparing for the holiday by decorating the birthday boy’s room. This is where knowledge on creating appliqués and crafts from different fabrics comes in handy. And the best thing is to make everything yourself, and the kids will be happy to do needlework with their parents.

Chairs are decorated with homemade crafts, festive table, other interior items. And your daughter’s new dress will become very elegant and sophisticated if you attach a beautiful tulle flower to it.

To make a delicate accessory, you need to take a few centimeters of satin ribbon, a piece of tulle, sewing supplies. Fold the ribbon in half and sew it, prepare round elements from tulle, and connect them together, carefully pulling the thread, give the shape of a flower. Glue a bead to the center, and sew the finished copy to the dress.

Flowers decorate children's dresses and skirts, making them more festive. Decorative items self made make our life more joyful and bright, and the fact that they are made with our own hands gives them uniqueness and soulfulness.

Fabric flowers will never go out of style. On the contrary, the popularity of such flowers is growing every year. Young girls wear headbands with flowers or hairpins, and decorate their shoes with flowers. Women pin brooches made of fabric flowers to their outfits and wear hats decorated with flowers. And of course, flowers in the interior look unusually fresh and cheerful, creating coziness and sunny warmth in the house.

Poppies... It is impossible to explain why women all over the planet are so partial to these flowers. And even those who claim that they love roses more than anything else in the world, when they see poppies, become extremely delighted and see nothing else around, and want only poppies, and all at once, even if there are gorgeous roses nearby. What is the reason for the mysterious popularity of poppies? Perhaps everything is simple: their scarlet color attracts the eye, and every woman inside is a fatal “girl in red”, who only needs a scarlet poppy to complete her image? But I don’t think the riddle of poppies is so easy to solve...

Making fabric flowers with your own hands is not easy. But with desire and diligence, you will definitely learn how to make real masterpieces. In this master class we will make poppy seed. You can make a whole bouquet of poppies and put it in a vase, or you can make wonderful poppy shoes or a poppy headband, or maybe a brooch from poppies? It's up to you, my dear fatal beauties.

Master class review

01. We cut out patterns for the future flower from cardboard.

02. For one flower, cut out 2 flower corollas from thin satin treated with gelatin (100% silk). We apply the pattern on the bias. We do not cut the petals to the center yet, but simply cut them along the contour of the pattern. When cutting, we carefully ensure that there are no traces of the handle left on the parts. We do not cut out the leaves of the future poppy. For them you need to prepare a piece of gelatin-treated satin measuring 10*10cm.

03. We prepare a newspaper, palette, batik paints (green, red, scarlet, yellow), brushes, a jar of water. We dilute 2 shades of red of different saturations, using colors from the palette. Moisten the flower part (the corolla of the poppy) with water from the jar. We begin to paint the petals with a lighter color, moving “from the edge to the center.” Towards the center the color saturation will weaken.

04. We put accents on the edges of the petals with a more saturated color.

05. Paint both parts of the flower in this way. Place the parts on dry newspaper to dry a little.

06. Prepare black paint and a smaller brush. On the slightly damp parts on the front (satin) side in the center of the flower, carefully place 4 black spots with black paint. Do not overdo it, the stains will spread and become larger over time. Place the parts on dry newspaper until completely dry.

07. Divorce green color desired shades. Moisten a piece of satin 10*10 cm with water. We apply different shades of green in spots, blurring the border.

08. Place the fabric to dry on dry newspaper.

09. From the roll corrugated paper cut a strip 0.5 cm wide.

10. Take the wire in your right hand. Place a drop of PVA glue at the end of the wire. IN left hand take a strip of paper. Attach a strip of paper to the wire at a 45 degree angle.

11. Start rolling the wire between your thumb and forefinger right hand, while holding the paper taut with your left hand and using the index finger of your left hand, firmly press the paper from below to the wire.

12. Continue to twist the wire, always making sure that the paper is at a 45 degree angle to the wire and is taut. Gradually move your fingers lower, winding the paper along the entire length of the wire.

13. When you reach the end of the wire, trim the paper, leaving a small tip.

14. Place a drop of glue on the tip of the paper.

15. Secure the tip of the paper to the wire.

16. Moisten your index finger with PVA glue and coat the entire length of the wire and lay it to dry. Prepare, therefore, 5 wires 30 cm long.

17. Cut out 2 small and 2 large leaves from green-dyed satin.

18. Using wire cutters, divide one wire into several parts by eye.

19. Glue the leaves to the wire from the wrong side using PVA glue. Leave to dry.

20. Cut the corolla into petals.

21. Bulk 20mm on soft pillow fold the bases of the petals from the front side.

22. Using a 5-8mm roll on a soft or medium pillow, curl the edges of the petals, either from the face or from the back, imitating the natural bruises of the petal, and without touching the folds.

23. Fill the center of the whisk.

24. Using a double knife from the front side, from the wire to the edge of the petal, draw the central vein.

25. Using a single knife from the front side, draw additional veins on the petals.

26. With a 3-5 mm roll, from the wrong side, from the edge to the center, between the veins, fill in small bulges on the petals, giving them volume.

27. Prepare 2 long wires and a strip of cotton wool. At the end of 2 wires, use thin-nose pliers to bend the end. Start forming a cotton ball at the end of the wire by twisting a strip of cotton wool.

28. Lubricate the end of the cotton wool with glue and secure it. Squeeze the cotton to form a ball.

29. Cut a small square of crepe paper.

30. Carefully pull the paper over the ball and secure with threads under the ball.

31. Trim off any excess paper.

32. Wrap the veins on the ball with threads, secure the threads by tying them in a knot under the ball.

33. The corollas, leaves and box are ready.

34. Prepare the glue. Semolina or crushed coal. Black or green threads.

For decorating clothes, hair and interiors.

-Do you like flowers?
-Yes, of course: any woman will answer this question like that.
-Which ones in particular?
-Well, of course roses.
- But why only roses?
- Rose is the queen of flowers.
- And the wonderful little daisies? What about graceful lilies? Are chrysanthemums the favorite flowers in Japan?

You can list and list endlessly.
-How we would like to see them, our beloved ones, today and always, nearby. Admire them, remember summer, meetings, loved ones and loved ones.
-Is it possible to?

It turns out yes. Make them yourself.

- It's not difficult at all. Although no. Not so simple.
The most difficult thing is (they can only be ordered) and (preferably natural). But the technique of making flowers is really not complicated.

Any flower consists of individual elements, which can be drawn on thick paper and then transferred to fabric. The fabric is pre-starched. Next, the tools get to work (they are called by a funny word - gurgles). The buns are heated and used as small irons, with which you can give our patterns any shape. When all the elements are ready, their assembly begins. We start with the stems and stamens. The technique of making stamens is very interesting. They are so different, some are even made from pre-colored semolina. And for the stems we use wires of different diameters, which we wrap either in green thin paper or thin cloth. PVA glue helps us with everything. Of course, the first flowers will leave you wishing for the best. But you will save them so that you can see how your skill grows in the future. Decorate your home with your favorite outfits. May they always give you good mood and a smile.

How to make flowers from fabric - the history of artificial flowers.

Now fabric flowers are back in fashion. And when did they show interest in them as much as today? Flowers are always with us. But special interest, when flowers made of fabric decorated almost every dress, appeared in Russia somewhere after the war, and then an even stronger surge - in the first half of the 70s of the last century. And even earlier?...

The first artificial flowers were known already in 3000 BC in Egypt. Women even then decorated themselves with artificial flowers. And further from history it is known that the art of making flowers and decorating themselves and their homes with them was adopted by Greek women. In 350 BC, artificial flowers were brought to Greece from Egypt. And then, much later, in the Middle Ages, both Spain and Italy also started making flowers. Then they were made in monasteries to decorate churches, religious holidays. And at the same time, they became interested in fabric flowers in France. In the 13th century in France, the custom arose among women to wear wreaths of roses. These wreaths are called "chapels". Doesn't it look like the word "hat"? Most likely, this was the case, because the French word “chapeau” is our hat. One can assume that this is where they began to seriously study fabric flowers. Moreover, they became so interested that they even organized manual production in Paris and Lyon. The rose enjoyed special and greatest love in France. She was so highly revered that not everyone was allowed to grow these beautiful flowers. The Greek poet Sappho called the rose the queen of flowers...

And how can you not be interested in flowers when you can hardly find an indifferent person to their beauty? As for women, a woman and flowers are one and the same thing, especially for poets and lovers who gave and give “...millions and millions of scarlet roses...”. But it’s not possible to preserve fresh flowers for a long time, let alone decorate yourself with them. They tried to preserve the beauty of fresh flowers...
...And only the aroma of blooming roses -
A flying prisoner locked in glass -
Reminds me of cold and frosty weather,
About the fact that summer was on earth.
The flowers have lost their former shine,
But they retained the soul of beauty.
W. Shakespeare

Flowers were made not only from fabric, but also from other materials. In the Czech Republic they made “stone” roses. To do this, fresh flowers were dipped into springs rich in mineral salts and kept for some time. And when the flowers became covered with a coating of mineral salts, they were taken out. We could admire them for a long time. But to decorate women, their clothes, hats, and hairstyles, light, delicate, elegant flowers and lovely boutonnieres were needed.
Embroidery, knitting flowers, flowers made of beads, flowers made of metal, leather, paper, porcelain, glass, wax, flowers made of fabric, flowers, flowers... They have always decorated and decorate our lives.
Fabric flowers have become fashionable and used as decorations for women's clothing, and as an interior. Every woman wanted to decorate not only herself, but also her home, even a modest one, with flowers.

In the 19th century in Paris there was a real cult of hat decorations, and of course, the most common were decorations made from artificial flowers. Flowers and ribbons decorated the locks of lovely ladies, and tiaras were made from flowers.
Already at the end of the 19th century, flowers were made from fabric in almost every hat and sewing workshop. Then this art came to us in Russia.
It seems that decorations made from artificial flowers have become fashionable. Yes, in all countries women want to decorate themselves, and flowers are the most affordable and beautiful decoration. But in our country these decorations disappeared for some time after the October Revolution; after all, they are a “relic of the past.”

How and when did this art come back? It is to the officers' wives, our great-grandmothers, who sewed, embroidered, knitted, adopting the art and traditions of our populous country, living in military garrisons, sometimes in the most difficult conditions, that we owe the fact that many artistic crafts returned to Russia.
And now, we can learn this noble and worthy art - making flowers from fabric. You will tell me why, you can buy it, or order it. Once I even heard the following phrase: “What?! Do it yourself?! Never!". It is a shame that some people think so. Of course, who should do what and how depends on time, circumstances and employment. One thing can be said that any creativity or skill has a beneficial effect on a person, and besides, this is a good activity with your children, especially girls. How much they can learn with you about flowers, about plants in general, you can teach them to appreciate all the nature that surrounds us. These joint activities with children expand their imagination and horizons, promote mutual understanding and love for each other. Therefore, kids are not a hindrance to this matter. I would also like to add that any creative activity to some extent distracts from the negative state of mind and calms. Doctors advise many sick people to embroider, knit, weave lace, or make something to the best of their ability. When the long winter evenings are ahead, create beautiful flowers for yourself. Maybe this will become the main occupation for long and long years, maybe this will be your hobby. In any case, when creating beauty, you will look at flowers in nature more often, because you want to make your flowers the same as living ones. Of course, many things will not work out right away, but the main thing is desire and patience. If your first flowers turn out unsightly, don’t be upset. You can hide any defects using colored silk threads or braid, beads or seed beads.
