How to make a snowman from polymer clay? Snowmen made of polymer clay Snowmen made of clay.

Approaching New Year and we invite you to decorate yours Christmas tree and make your own Christmas decorations. We will use polymer clay as the material. Today we will sculpt the most New Year's characters and you can learn how to make a snowman with your own hands step by step. We will also reveal a secret - how to make such toys light so as not to burden our Christmas tree.

For work we will need:

  • polymer clay: red, orange, brown, beige, white, yellow, black
  • liquid plastic Brown and transparent
  • boat round shape with a diameter of at least 7 cm
  • brown pastel
  • rolling pin
  • steaks, blades, dots, awls and other modeling tools
  • powder
  • texture with a pattern of waffle cake
  • foam droplets with a diameter of 1.5 cm

First we need to make a base for waffle cups from thick cardboard. We roll the cardboard into a tube and secure it with tape. Scotch tape and cardboard can be safely baked in the oven at 120 degrees.

Now we prepare layers of plastic the color of baked milk. Roll it out using a pasta machine. The final thickness of such a plan is 1 mm. We take the texture of the waffle cake and sprinkle it with talcum powder or baby powder. Distribute the talc evenly over the entire surface of the texture. You can sprinkle the texture with water.

Apply the texture to the surface of the layer and roll it well with a rolling pin. The texture should be pressed well into the clay to leave a clear imprint of the waffle cake on the surface of the plastic. Carefully remove the texture from the plastic.

We take a round boat of large diameter (at least 7 cm) and cut out blanks for a waffle cup. We return to the cardboard blanks and wrap, starting from the narrow part of the base, a cut out circle of plastic beige colour. It is important that the edges of the waffle cup overlap each other.

And now the waffle cup needs to be given some rosy color and this can be done with a dark brown pastel. Using a brush, shade the pastel on the surface of the waffle cup, focusing Special attention top border and side. These blanks need to be baked, but before we put them in the oven, I suggest making twig arms for the snowman and immediately putting them in to bake along with the shortcakes.

These pens are easy to make. We make a strip of brown clay 2 cm long. We bend it exactly in the middle: we make it like an elbow joint at an angle of 90 degrees. Now we can safely send the pieces to the oven for firing. Firing time and temperature are indicated on your packaging polymer clay.

Our preparations are baked and have already cooled down. Now we can easily remove the cardboard blanks from them and start decorating.

We will need droplet balls made of polystyrene foam: they are light and can be baked. We prepare a layer of white polymer clay and wrap the foam droplet with this layer. Smooth out all seams and joints. If you feel that there are air bubbles between the layers, pierce these places with a needle and release the air. Be sure to try the workpiece into the waffle cake. Remember that the snowman consists of 3 tiers, increasing in size. This will be our second tier, so it should be larger than the top one. We need to increase the volume with white polymer clay. We attach another layer to the workpiece and try it on. If everything fits perfectly in size, take liquid plastic, generously coat the inside of the waffle cake and tightly place a white base inside the waffle cake, simulating ice cream and the middle part of a snowman. Now take a needle or awl and begin to loosen the top layer white ball: We need to make imitation ice cream. The process is long. It is important that the clay is not too soft - then you will get a loose fluffy layer, like real ice cream.

Look how realistic the ball looks. If we didn’t know that it was plastic, we would easily confuse it with real ice cream.

Now we need to make another ball, the base of which will again be a foam droplet. Only now we wrap it in one layer of plastic white, smooth out all seams and joints. We take a stack with a ball and in the upper part of a large white ball, already fixed in the horn, we make a recess for a smaller ball. First coat the hole with liquid plastic and insert a smaller ball into this hole. Press the two balls as tightly as possible against each other. We take the needle again and loosen the top layer of plastic of the future snowman’s head.

Since we have foam inside, when baking it will shrink, slightly squeezing out the air inside the product. To prevent the foam balls from suddenly bursting, you need to use a needle to make punctures into the foam in different places of the snowman. Just don’t make huge holes, and if they are visible, disguise them: loosen white plastic near the hole.

Now made of plastic orange color we make an oblong carrot droplet. We cut and remove the excess length and use the edge of the needle to make notches on the surface of the entire carrot. From black plastic we form two small balls of the same size - these are the future eyes of the snowman.

Take the stack with the ball and make a depression exactly in the center of the front side of the snowman's head. We expand it to fit the diameter of the carrot, apply a little liquid plastic inside the recess and place the carrot there. Using a small stack, we make a depression under the eyes on different sides of the carrot. We also coat them with liquid plastic and place black balls in them. Make a thin short strip out of black plastic, place it under the carrot and make a smile out of it.

Now let's get back to the stick handles that we pre-baked. In the central part of the snowman, on both sides, we make indentations with stacks of balls. We coat with liquid plastic and place bent sticks in them. We loosen the place where the sticks enter the body so that the snowman is complete and fluffy on all sides.

Make a ball from red polymer clay. This is the future cherry. Take a stack with a small ball and make a depression with the stack exactly in the center.

We take an awl and, using the edge of the awl from the recess, press a not deep groove on only one side of the berry. Now we need brown liquid plastic and a double connecting ring. The diameter of my ring is 1 cm. We press the connecting ring into the center of the upper part of the snowman and cover its pressed part with a piece of white plastic.

Loosen the top layer of clay. Let's try on the cherry on top. I will mount it with a slight offset to the side.

We take liquid brown plastic and pour a little on the top of the snowman’s head: we imitate liquid chocolate. I also pull it out with a needle and make streaks on the top of the snowman's head. Take a cherry and form it on the snowman’s head, slightly offset to the side. We make a petiole out of brown plastic, coat its end with liquid plastic and insert the berries into the recess.

We make a striped scarf from plastic red and yellow color. First, we form thin short strips from these two shades, and then put them together alternating different shades of color. Roll the colored strips with a rolling pin to level the surface of the striped layer. We cut off the uneven ends. We divide the layer into two strips. We connect them and wrap the snowman’s neck, thus imitating a scarf. The ends of the scarf should lie crosswise on top of each other at the front. We cut thin strips from the uneven ends and attach them to the bottom of the scarf on both sides. We smooth out the seams and joints so that the scarf appears complete, and using a scalpel we make an imitation of fringe at the ends of the scarf.

Our snowman is ready to be baked in the oven. By analogy and prototype, you can make dozens of different snowmen with different decor different outfits and different emotions. All in your hands. All we have to do is thread a beautiful ribbon through the loop we created from the connecting ring and hang the snowman on the Christmas tree.

Handmade New Year's toys create an atmosphere of charm and pleasant memories. You can make such New Year's crafts together with your children, and then decorate the Christmas tree with them. In this master class you will learn how to make New Year's snowman made of polymer clay with your own hands.

To make a New Year's snowman you will need:

  • Polymer clay: white, red, blue, yellow;
  • Needle;
  • Leg-split;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Wet wipes;
  • Dark colored beads.

Master class “How to make a New Year’s toy - a snowman from polymer clay”:

1) First, draw a rough sketch of our toy on paper. It is better to think through all the details in advance so that a “creative crisis” does not occur in the process. It is advisable to draw the toy in life-size.

2) Knead the white plastic and sculpt the head.

3) Then we make the torso. The seam between the two parts can be smoothed out a little with your finger.

4) Take a wooden skewer and with the back side (not where the sharp tip is) make small indentations under the eyes and insert dark beads.

5) Move on to the carrot spout. If you don't have orange, you can mix yellow and red.

6) Mix small pieces of blue, yellow and red clay. Mix well to obtain a uniform shade. Roll out a very thin sausage and make eyebrows.

7) Using the same principle, we form a smile.

8) We make 2 small sausages, making them a little thinner on one side, these are the handles.

9) Take red plastic, roll it out into a not very thin cake and cut out 2 triangles.

10) Make a small rectangle approximately 1-1.5 mm wide and wrap the junction of the triangles in a circle. We get a bow and put it on our snowman.

11) Now let’s make a snowman’s scarf. We make a long ribbon and cut it into three pieces. We wrap the first, longest piece around the neck, the other two will imitate the ends of the scarf. Using a needle, we make serifs, giving the scarf a realistic look.

12) Take a thick needle and make many, many notches. Visually, the result is “loose snow.”

13) Place the toy in the oven and bake it according to the recommendations of the manufacturer of your polymer clay.

Winter has already arrived, but nevertheless, in many cities the weather is not at all snowy. And I really want at least a little New Year’s snowy atmosphere! You can create it at home using different materials, for example, polymer clay. I suggest you decorate your Christmas trees with a cute toy made from this material. The snowman will turn out very bright and pleasing to the eye. In addition, such a snowman can serve as a keychain for you in the future.

We will need:
- polymer clay (white, orange, blue (you can take other colors, but of course it’s better to leave the snowman white);
- stacks for polymer clay;
- regular table salt;
- connecting ring;
- black marker or pen;
- two black beads.

Step 1

So, first it is better to prepare all the small details of the future snowman, namely: the carrot nose and buttons. You can additionally make snowmen a scarf, hat or something else. If you have baked clay, then immediately bake these small elements according to the instructions. If it’s self-hardening, just wait until the elements become hard.

Step 2

Now let's start working with white plastic. Quantity is at your discretion. If you are making a Christmas tree toy or keychain, then it should not be particularly large. And if, for example, you want to make cute ones with snowmen, then you will need to take much less clay. Make a snowman's body (the largest ball), a round head (a medium-sized ball) and two smallest balls (future arms) from white clay. You can make a snowman from three or even four parts, but this way it will look more neat.

Step 3

Next, pour regular table salt onto a saucer and roll all the white elements of the snowman in it - this will give the craft a “snowy” effect. You need to roll several times, but do not shake off excess salt. But if you wish, you can skip this step, leaving the snowman completely smooth.

Step 4

If you have baked clay, do not rush to put the figurine in the oven. Start connecting all the elements at once: first the head with the body. The clay has a fairly sticky texture, so there is no need for glue here - everything adheres well, although for reliability it is better to put small elements on glue. The photo cannot show the entire texture of the snowman: it turned out to be quite porous, reminiscent of real snow.

Step 5

Don't forget about the snowman's arms. By the way, it’s better to immediately insert the ring into the snowman’s head while the figurine is raw, otherwise you’ll have to drill a hole for it later, there is a risk of damaging the figurine, but you don’t want that? But if you forgot about it, then take the thinnest drill for such work and act extremely carefully!

Step 6

For the snowman's eyes, I took two black beads, but you can simply draw them with a marker. And in general, here you can take beads and other materials at your discretion. Even though you have already baked the nose or waited until it dries, it will attach perfectly to the raw figurine. And during the baking process everything will set even better. Well, if your clay hardens, then you will just need to wait for the figure to dry completely.

Step 7

Don't forget the snowman's buttons. It is better to glue them with glue, as they can “slip” off the round belly of the figure. The dot holes are also completed with a marker (in the case of baking, after the figure is completely ready).

Step 8

Something is missing: be sure to add a smile to the snowman so that he brings only joy to your home, energizing everyone positive energy! By the way, if something falls off during the process, don’t be afraid and don’t rush to get upset, just glue everything back into place! So, after this, you can safely bake the toy (in this case, paint on a smile after baking) or wait for it to dry.

Step 9

As a hanger, you can take a satin ribbon that matches the color of the craft itself. Thread it into a ring and tie it with a bow - it's that simple! Although you can make a pendant from threads or any beautiful chain.

Ready Christmas tree decoration"Snowman" made of polymer clay

Now the toy is ready, which you can safely hang on the Christmas tree. This snowman really stands out against the backdrop of this spiky green beauty! And so that the snowman doesn’t get bored, involve all household members in the creativity and create a real family for the snowman! The process of sculpting snowmen on the Christmas tree will captivate both adults and children! By the way, after the New Year, you don’t have to put the craft away in a long drawer along with other toys until next year: Simply remove the ribbon and attach matching hardware to the ring for a cute keychain! This way, even in spring or summer, you will be filled with the fabulous mood of winter every time you use the keys. I wish you a fabulous and snowy mood and creative success!

IN modern world There are quite a lot of materials for making homemade things. Their wide choose gives needlewomen the right to create products for every taste. One of the popular substances is polymer clay, which is also called “plastic”. Its main property is complete solidification when heated. This article will help you figure out how to make a snowman from polymer clay, which will become a relevant decoration for the Christmas tree or a pleasant gift during the New Year holidays.

Original keychain

We present to your attention a master class on creating a snowman with your own hands.

To work you will need:

Prepare white polymer clay - knead it until it takes the desired shape well. Next, divide it into four parts. Roll each piece into a ball, making each subsequent ball smaller in size.

Connect the resulting parts, thereby creating the body of a snowman. The balls can be placed either directly on top of each other or made into curves. To make the elements attach more firmly to each other, you can lubricate them with glue.

Insert beads (or beads) into the snowman's head in the place where his eyes should be located, do not forget to press the bead a little for better attachment. Roll orange clay into a ball, then twist it into a carrot shape and place it below the eyes. You can create a smile using a felt-tip pen cap.

Use a toothpick or any sharp object to decorate the snowman's face with eyebrows.

To create buttons you will need green and brown clay. Also, before starting, you should knead the material and roll the ball. Subsequently, divide the large ball into small parts and twist the small balls. Flatten each ball a little. Use a toothpick to make two holes in the center of each element. Place the resulting buttons on the snowman's body.

To make hands, you need to roll out two long sausages and two smaller sausages from black clay. Short elements are attached to long ones (as in the photo). Use a toothpick to make two indentations where the handles are attached. Next, insert the resulting arms into the holes.

Also form one large and one small ball from black clay. Flatten the larger one into a pancake shape. A small ball will serve to create a cylinder. Connect the resulting parts together. The result is a headdress. The brim of the hat can be raised slightly.

Place the hat on the snowman's head and press lightly on top. Roll two small balls from yellow plastic and stick to the hat.

Roll out a long sausage from yellow clay and wrap the future scarf around your neck. To create the appearance of knitting on a scarf, you can pierce the scarf with a pin along its entire length.

After sculpting the snowman, it is sent to bake in the oven; the time and temperature will be indicated on the polymer clay packaging. Afterwards, the craft should be cooled.

Cover the cooled man with sealant (matte) in several layers. Before applying the next one, make sure the previous one is already dry. The plastic snowman is ready.

Three snow friends

1 step. Roll out a small white ball (it will be the head of the snowman) and make a body from the same white clay bigger size as in the photo below. Don’t forget about the handles and carrot nose (we make it from orange clay), and prepare small balls of black plastic for the eyes and mouth. We do this for all three snowmen.

Step 2. We attach the arms to the body, decorate the heads with carrots and eyes with a smile.

Step 3. Blue clay use to create a scarf for the first snowman - prepare a ball, then flatten it and make a depression in the middle. Two stripes blue color will become the ends of the scarf - if desired, you can make a fringe using a stack or a knife. We do the same with clay. purple to create a scarf for the second person.

Step 4 You also need to remember to make warm headphones for the snowmen. We use clay desired color, roll two oval elements and a long sausage. Then we fasten them together and place them on the heads of our white friends.

Step 5 The scarf of the third snowman is made a little differently - for this you need to roll two long sausages of white and pink flowers and twist them into a spiral with each other. We also use the stack to create fringe at the ends of the scarf.

This scarf is wrapped around the body in this way:

The job is almost over, all that remains is to attach the heads to the bodies using wires. Snowmen are baked in the oven according to the instructions on the clay packaging. The white men are ready!

Master class with step by step photos"Doll Snowman Kudryashkin"

Let's make a snowman
Sculpts since the morning
Snowman baby.
Rolls snow globes
And laughing, he connects.

Below is the largest lump,
Slightly smaller lump on it.
Even smaller is the head,
We barely made it.

Eyes are cones, nose is a carrot.
They put the hat on deftly.
A bright scarf, a broom in his hands.
And the kids are happy.

So, let's begin our work!
First of all, we need to make a sketch to represent our Kudryashkin in all his glory.
You can also take a picture or drawing as a basis.
We begin work by preparing the base. Kudryashkin will consist of a mass of papier-mâché. This technique has long been known and loved by everyone, which is used both in kindergarten, school, for development fine motor skills, creativity, and in theaters, for making props. Necessary materials at this stage it is newsprint, a bucket or plastic bowl, water and PVA glue.
Finely tear the paper, soak it in water (15 minutes is enough), so that it becomes soft, pliable and plastic, then drain the water and squeeze out the paper lumps. Add PVA in proportion to create a kind of plastic mass that can be shaped.
In your work, you can use a mixer-grinder to increase the speed of work, and you can also prepare a frame made of foil - for less papier-mâché mass consumption.
You can also work with the entire form as a whole, i.e. as in the picture above, without dividing into parts (three balls), or you can do individual elements.
In my work I focused on a solid form. After the shape is formed using the mass, the most difficult thing remains - to wait for it to dry completely. While drying is going on, I complete the remaining elements of my doll.
The snowman traditionally has a carrot nose. To make juicy carrots, I will use baked polymer clay.

For the convenience of attaching the nose, I use a wire base, which before work I wrap with masking tape (in order to remove the sharp edge), and with threads along the entire length of the wire base (in order to firmly glue the murk and the snowman together). I help myself in my work with a stack, giving the desired shape to the carrot, and then bake it at a temperature of 130 degrees, as indicated on the clay packaging.
Next I start making the piles and legs.
As with the carrot spout, I use a wire base, masking tape and thread. I need wire cutters in order to measure and cut the required length of wire, a stack is also necessary for shaping.

As in the first case (with carrots), I wrap the edge of the wire and wrap it with masking tape. After this, I wrap the wire along its entire length with threads for better adhesion. You can help yourself with PVA glue

Next, we begin to shape our snowman arms.

Here again I use the papier-mâché technique, using newsprint, water and PVA glue.
Using a similar pattern, I make the legs of a snowman. I fill out the form with foil.

After all the parts have dried, I apply a leveling layer of putty to them. I apply putty to the arms, legs and torso.

I leave it to dry again and start making it. winter clothes snowman - hat, mittens and scarf. I use knitting threads and a crochet hook. I use the simplest diagrams, they can be found on the Internet, as well as detailed videos master classes.

When all the small parts are prepared, you can start assembling, but before this most interesting stage it is necessary to sand our dried elements.
I use an engraver for more fast work and then I use sandpaper and an abrasive sponge.

To give the desired shape and facial expression, I use special self-hardening plastic to make dolls; the set is sculptural, and also to complete the image of Kudryashkin - I use white doll curls.
After I have sculpted the desired facial expression, I let the plastic dry.

Now I can start painting the snowman, parts of the arms and legs, as well as painting the face. I use it for painting and painting acrylic paints.

I would like to note that I did not try to achieve a perfectly smooth texture when sanding, because a snowman made of snow is never perfectly smooth.
Now all that remains is to assemble the doll. For this I use a hot glue gun and clear glue.
I glue everything on: curls, a hat, a scarf and gloves. New Year's miracle ready! Have a nice time creative process and happy New Year!
