I wanted to continue the tactics I had begun of item-by-item listing and, following the bags, gutted the shoe shelf. But I realized that first it wouldn’t hurt to devote one or two posts of excellent tediousness to more global issues. If only because they will arise constantly. So let’s better settle things with them right away and live in peace.

One of the main phobias regarding a basic wardrobe is related to the colors of the things in it. I’ve even gotten used to starting almost every conversation on the topic of the base with a promise that it won’t be all gray. I won’t draw feathers in rhinestones there either, but I can guarantee one thing: you can make a basic wardrobe of even the most “gray” color type moderately cheerful. In short, today we’re talking about universal shades.

It was not in vain that I mentioned the color type. Bayan, but still once again: the basic wardrobe differs from person to person not only in the list of his personal “universal” things and styles, but also color scheme. Therefore, alas, there is no single list of shades that each of us can rely on when compiling our base. And these googling illustrations of a basic wardrobe are absolute evil for the majority:

I’ll say right away that the base above is not very typical, because it was compiled for deep coloring in a very creative style. But in any case, from the palette to the basic wardrobe, I usually drag a shitload of shades from 50 to 70 percent of the shades, depending on the individual person. And these are not conventionally gray, black or white. I take a little of everyone - but only those that pass the test with my three favorite rules of #cruelscreening.

So. Rule number one: white and black are not allowed into the competition

Okay, I bent it a little. Bright and cold color typesmay be considered True textbook white and black colors as base colors. Actually, because these are two very bright and very cold colors that are able to interrupt the appearance of the vast majority of the Slavic population. After all, many of us, as you know, are distinguished by natural softness to varying degrees expressiveness.

But this is already closer to the second rule, so let’s move on.

Rule number two: basic shades are the most complex and incomprehensible

This, it seems to me, is very logical and straightforward Golden Rule. The point of a basic wardrobe is the ability to easily combine outfits with absolutely any of your acquisitions, even the most extravagant ones. In our case today - tucked in color.

It's only on beautiful pictures street style, under the most incredible thing there is another perfect incredible thing - and together they look like a killer set. In our harsh reality, at best, you have to spend unplanned money on a “companion”, which most often turns out to be completely unsuitable for any other use in the wardrobe. At worst, you’ll have a hysteria in front of your closet about “there’s nothing to wear” or wear it as is. All options are unworkable.

It is complex shades that cope best with the task of basic things. That is, those in which several colors are already initially mixed. Because such “incomprehensible” shades will somehow resonate with any bright or accent colors of your outfit. And therefore - to create a harmonious inflorescence that is pleasing to the eye without any mental effort on your part.

Let me make it more clear using specific shades as an example. In the top row I placed a simple shade of red that was unsuccessful as a base, and below were its more universal, comfortable analogues.

For myself in a store, I usually recognize basic shades this way: if I can’t immediately name the color or something with two or three dashes (gray-brown-crimson) starts to roll around on my tongue, then the shade is what I need. Let's take it!
