One piece of advice: when you start assembling an origami cube, make the folds and bends as accurately as possible so that everything turns out nice and even, otherwise, when finally connected, these errors will overlap each other and the cube will not be stable.

Let's start assembling our master class on origami:

Fold the sheet in half to create folds, then fold it back out.

Now, relying on our fold, we fold the sides towards the center.

Turn the sheet over and fold each corner toward the center to create a trapezoid. Fold only opposite corners.

The next step is to bend the corners of the trapezoid towards the center on the opposite side.

Now release all the corners and repeat all these steps for each leaf until you have 6 origami cube modules.

Simple origami paper cube

Method 1

In order to fold a three-dimensional cube with six sides, you will need a square-shaped sheet of paper and that’s it. The work takes place without glue. And you can use scissors once, when you need to cut off the material protruding beyond the edge. In addition, when the manufacturing process comes to an end, it will take a lot of air from your lungs to inflate. But everything is in order.

Progress:

  1. Take a sheet of A4 paper, fold it diagonally and cut off the excess. It turns out to be a square. Next, we fold this square again diagonally, and then in half. With these movements we outline the fold lines;
  2. According to the diagram, taking into account the diagonal lines, we make a triangular figure, turning both edges inward on the left and right. We bend the corners that are free near the base of the geometric figure towards the top. We do this on all sides of the triangle;
  3. We bend the opposite corners from the side into the center. You need to focus on a vertical line. We do the same with the second side. We also bend the free corners twice where there is a conical protrusion, and then carefully insert them into the pocket corners;
  4. Repeat the same steps with bending and tucking the corners into pockets on the other side;
  5. The result is a cube when folded. To give it a 3D shape, we look for an open corner and blow air into it.

Method 2

Before starting work, find thick paper, a ruler, a simple pencil, glue, and scissors.

You can use a ready-made template, or you can draw such a template yourself, observing the dimensions. All you have to do is take a pencil and draw 4 squares one after the other vertically, and then 2 more squares on both sides. Don't forget to leave some space for gluing.

Now cut everything along the lines and carefully bend the marked lines to form edges. Lubricate with glue and connect the walls of the cube together.

Before starting work, prepare 6 sheets of paper of different colors (you can take 2 sheets of one color, 2 sheets of another, 2 sheets of a third color). There is no need to use cardboard here, because the reusable connection of the modules will result in a rather dense structure. You should be prepared to spend a lot of time, but the results are worth it. You just have to strictly follow the scheme and follow all the steps one by one.

How to do?

  1. On a square sheet of paper, fold the fold lines: first in half, and then divide each plane into two more. Next you should fold the lower right corner and the upper left.
  2. Fold the bottom to the center and then the top. The reference point is the horizontal line in the middle. Fold inward those corners that we did not touch at the previous stage on one side and on the other. You should get a figure similar to a parallelogram.
  3. Place the workpiece face down on the surface and bend the corners towards you. You will see a small square with bent corners. Repeat the design of the modules 5 more times.
  4. Connect all the elements into a single structure. To do this, tuck the corners of each module into the niche plane in the middle, located on the elements nearby.

Advice! To ensure that the cube lasts a long time, is strong, and the elements do not fall out and the corners do not stick out, fix everything with glue. You just need to use it in moderation and at the stage of assembling the craft.

A simple origami cube for beginners is assembled from one square sheet of paper. It can be made in two ways.

The first method is a water bomb, familiar to many adults from childhood. The model is assembled from the basic “double triangle” shape. To understand how the basic figure is formed, just use the visual diagram presented below:

A bomb is formed from the assembled “double triangle”: turn the lower corners of the top layer of the figure upward. Bend and straighten the resulting triangles in the middle. Align the side corners of the triangles with the center.


Bend the upper “ears” down and tuck the resulting triangles into the inner pockets of the side corners.


Turn the figure over and repeat steps 1-4 for the other side. From the bottom side (a small hole should form there), blow into the workpiece so that a cube is formed from it.


Several multi-colored origami bomb cubes connected to each other with a string will make a garland. If you put peas inside a bomb made from a thick sheet of paper, you will get a real rattle. You can also decorate an electric garland with bombs (as in the photo).

How to make a modular cube

Make a cube in modular technology origami is quite simple. The main thing is to gradually understand the method of assembling each module separately and the principle of connecting them together. The result should be a nice multi-colored cube.

To assemble a more complex modular cube, you need to prepare 6 square sheets of paper. The origami cube will be more cute and fun if you use sheets of different colors to make it, for example, 3 yellow sheets and 3 green ones.

How to do it: fold the sheet in half and align the top and bottom edges with the middle of the sheet and straighten it out. Fold opposite corners inward, focusing on the outermost folds. Fold the edges again as in step 2.


Bend the corners and side edges diagonally (as in the picture) and straighten it out. Tuck the corners along the folds inward and turn the figure over.


Fold the corners diagonally and unfold. Repeat steps 1-7 for the remaining 5 squares.


Connect 3 modules together with corners for one side and 3 for the other, as shown in the photo.



Align the two sides, tucking all corners into the pockets.

If you connect small modular cubes together, you get a movable sonobe cube. First you need to make 9 small cubes (3 rows of 3 cubes each), without tucking the last tab inside, and then assemble all the origami elements into a single figure. For this you will need:

  • colored paper – 3 sheets;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • glue (if necessary).

Below is step-by-step instruction sonobe assemblies: mark each sheet into 18 squares 4x4 cm (each cube consists of 6 modules, therefore, a total of 9 cubes require 54 squares). Cut out the marked squares.

Connect the modules together to form a cube, do not tuck the last tab into the pocket.


Repeat the steps first for all remaining squares. Connect the cubes together in a row, inserting the protruding tabs into the pockets of the opposite cubes.


Place the rows together and stick out the corners of each cube opposite each other, insert them into opposite pockets.


The cube is a fairly universal figure. Due to the fact that the polyhedron is regular, it can be used as a stand or a decorative element.

Making a cube with your own hands is not difficult. It can be created from almost any available materials - paper, wood, fabric. The cube base can be used for decoupage or other purposes.

To make such a cube, it is better not to use thin printer paper, however, it is quite suitable for training. Thick photographic paper or drawing paper with a density of 160 gm2 or more is suitable.

For testing, take an A4 sheet of paper. Place the sheet horizontally in front of you. In the center of the sheet, draw two horizontal parallel lines so that the distance between them is 5 cm.

Next, divide the resulting rectangle into squares with a side of 5 cm. You should end up with four squares. Having retreated 3 squares to the left, draw one more square on top and bottom of the third square. The figure took the shape of a cross. If you intend to connect the cube with glue, then on the long side of the template you must leave 5 mm indentations along the entire length.

Where the fold line will be, it is necessary to make small cuts of 5 mm in the form of triangles. Then, when assembling, you won’t have to bend the corners and there will be no risk of crushing the cube. Bend the cube along all fold lines so that there are no distortions.

For ease of assembly, you can follow the fold lines with a ruler or fingernail. After this, glue is applied to the indentations. It is best to apply it not with the tube spout, but with a thin brush - this makes it easier to control the process. Then you should carefully connect all the edges.

If other elements are supposed to be applied on top of the cube, then you can connect the edges using transparent adhesive tape. In addition, you can use colored tape to make the product original.

Using the same scheme, a cube is created from cardboard. It will be stronger and more durable.

Wooden cubes are the most practical. They are environmentally friendly, they can be used as a basis for further artistic works and given to children as toys. For children's toys, aspen, linden, poplar and alder are usually used.

You can take harder rock, but it is more difficult to process. Coniferous species can be used for blanks, but they are not suitable for children's cubes. To make a wooden cube, you will need a minimum set of tools: a simple pencil, a ruler, a hacksaw, a jigsaw and a grinding tool or sandpaper.

The easiest way is to make a cube from a rectangular block. Then all that remains is to mark the block into equal parts and saw off the required number of pieces.

Then the cubes should be sanded. If the workpiece does not allow this, it is first sawed with a hacksaw so as to obtain one of the sides equal to the side of the future cube. After which, the workpiece is sawn into fragments. The cube is decorated depending on its further purpose.

It is best to coat children's toys with a safe, colorless varnish. You can stick various pictures on children's cubes. You can also make a puzzle. To do this, you need to measure the size of a square consisting of 9, 16, etc. cubes, and print a picture of this size. Then, the picture is marked into fragments and pasted onto the cubes.

Polymer clay cube

Polymer clay gives a lot of room for imagination. You can make multi-colored figures from it; its softness is slightly harder than plasticine.

There are two types of polymer clay - the kind that dries naturally and the kind that needs to be baked in the oven to harden. The baking temperature should be the same as on the packaging with the materials. If this marking is not present, it is better to refuse the purchase.

  • the room should be well ventilated;
  • be sure to wear gloves and a respirator;
  • remove all food products from the room where the product is baked (so that steam does not reach them. For example, in the refrigerator);
  • It is strictly forbidden to bake polymer clay and food products at the same time;
  • Upon completion of work, the oven must be disinfected and washed thoroughly.

Cube of polymer clay very easy to make. This shape can be easily sculpted by hand or cut with a knife. In its soft form, pieces of polymer clay are easily connected to each other. From multi-colored pieces you can make a Rubik's cube, or make original dice, and even earrings.

    1) The first method is based on folding:

    Mark the curves first and then start folding.

    2) But the second method involves gluing and pre-cutting a figure with connection valves:

    Everything is much simpler here - you bend and apply glue to the valves, placing them from the inside.

    In order to make a cube out of paper, you need to draw 6 identical squares on the paper on the left side so that there is one square on top, three at the intersection and two below. In this case, the two side ones should have trapezoids measuring 1/6 square; they should be on three sides. The top square has one trapezoid. Cut along the contours and fasten with trapezoids. All is ready.

    The easiest way is to cut out a cross-shaped template from paper:
