How to cut fur slippers with your own hands, step by step with photos

Experienced needlewomen advise starting to sew slippers with simple slipper models. They can be open or closed from any available material. By making such slippers, you can learn the basics of patterning and sewing house shoes.

The technique is very simple. To begin with, a pattern is made. Using the pattern, the contours of the parts for sewing are applied to the material. For the sole, use dense and thick material. The parts are sewn together and the decorations are attached to the finished slippers. For ease of wearing, a low heel is glued to the sole. This can be done conveniently with a glue gun.

their unique sizes are taken, patterns are made

You will need to take the following measurements from your leg. Foot circumference along the outer edge, length of the top of the slippers along the inner edge, along the outer edge, heel.

Starts with the circumference of the foot. To do this, place your foot on Blank sheet paper. Old unused wallpaper is used for this.

You can tear out the middle of a notebook into a square. Outline your mark with a pencil or pen. That's it, the soles for the slippers are ready! The heel part of the “heel” is 1/3 of the length of the foot.

Now other measures are being taken. All measurements are taken on the foot in accordance with the already made sole pattern. To do this, place your foot on the pattern of your foot. For the top of slippers. The length of the top of the slippers is measured.

To do this you will need a “centimeter”. The “centimeter” is located from the edge of the big toe on the foot in a straight line to the level of 2/3 of the length of the foot.

The next foot width measurement is needed for the top pattern. This is the width along the inside edge along the rise line.

This measurement is measured to determine the distance from one side edge I molded the feet to the other. The measuring tape is placed across the instep of the foot.

The pattern piece is slightly shaped, but according to your measurements.

Everyone is ready with personal measurements for future shoes. And according to them, patterns are made according to the sketches of the drawings.

patterns of all parts are made from materials

First, the pattern figures are redrawn “by eye” from photos onto paper. Then they are adjusted taking into account the required dimensions. Cut out paper pattern with small allowances. Applying to the leg and finally corrected with scissors.

As an example, work is being done for a male model. For women's, simply take a different material, size and add decorations (optional).

For this you will need:
Top part:

  • Faux fur. An old fur coat or vest can come in handy here. For the top layer of the top of the slippers (on the left in the picture).
  • Batting or a piece of cloth for cleaning the floor (not used), for insulation (center in the photo).
  • Thin, pleasant fabric for lining (on the right in the picture).

Bottom, sole.

  • Something durable for the soles. It can be a piece of felt, thick and rough leather, or rubber. The sole is used from old shoes A little bigger size so that you can cut it out the desired shape detail (on the left in the picture).
  • Batting is also used here for insulation; a pad is cut out of it, slightly smaller in size than the sole (centered in the photo).
  • For insoles, dense but soft fabric is used. You can use ready-made insoles, which are sold at any hardware store. Buy a slightly larger size and cut it out according to the pattern (on the right in the picture). The size of an insulated pad.

An additional detail is an elastic band 3 cm wide or a synthetic strip of the same size.

To make women's or children's, you need to take the appropriate size, select the appropriate material and decorate with decorative elements.

Step-by-step instructions on how to sew fur slippers with your own hands

The details of the fur slippers are sewn together using a sewing machine or by hand sewing. It will be faster on a typewriter, but exclusive by hand. The choice is yours.

To assemble the parts you will need:

Needles for chopping parts to pin all the parts of the top together.

All three parts are attached together from the wrong side.

The stitched parts are trimmed 2-3 mm along the stitching. The protruding fur and the remaining threads along the edges of all layers are trimmed. It turns out to be a single piece of the top of the slippers.

The elastic tape is placed face down on the front side of the part along the inner edge of the top and stitched.

The sewn ribbon is turned on the wrong side and once again attached with a “multiple zigzag”. Special knit stitch on a sewing machine.

On the wrong side, the ribbon is cut very close to the stitching, at a distance of 2 mm.

The wrong side of the upper part is combined with the right side of the insole from the bottom. The middles of the parts must match.

The side marks are also aligned and secured with needles.

For convenience and even stitching of the parts, they are first swept out.

The insoles are sewn to the upper part. They work from the inside out.

Next, a ribbon is placed face down on the front of the slipper and the edge of the strip is folded.

The tape is attached to the front side of the slipper along the entire circumference using machine stitching

This is what we get in the end.

The tape is turned back to the inside of the slipper and secured with a “multiple zigzag” stitch. The entire upper part of the slipper is made.

The “heel-heel” is glued to the sole with a glue gun.

If the part is not glued very well, then it is heated with an iron, the glue will melt and firmly connect the parts.

In the same way, the sole and insulation are glued from the wrong side. To ensure a strong connection, iron it.

As I wrote above, the insulating pad should be slightly smaller than the sole.

The toe part of the sole is coated with glue and attached to the toe part of the top of the slipper.

In the same way, the back parts of the sole and the upper part of the slipper are glued together.

The final step will be gluing the entire sole to the upper part of the slipper along the entire perimeter. It is recommended to iron the gluing areas with a hot iron for greater reliability. If the slippers are made of fur, then it will snag in these places. But it's not scary. Keep the fur side over the steam for a few minutes and everything straightens out.

So the house slippers are sewn. As you can see it is very simple and fast.

Fur makes warm, soft and beautiful slippers. They are easy to make and can be done by beginners. It is enough to understand the main points in sewing slippers and you can move on to more complex materials, such as leather.

Both parts are connected to each other with a strip of suede. Place the pieces facing inward. Turn inside out and steam with an iron.

The middle part of the “loop” is tucked inside the sandal and hemmed. Along the bottom of the resulting top, from the outside, another suede trim is sewn face to face along the entire circumference. Fold the resulting border onto the wrong side of the top of the sandals and hem it.

For the fastener strap, a rectangular piece is cut out, sewn face inward and turned inside out. The ends of the parts are turned inward and hemmed. Slots are made along the edges of the fastener for buttons and the edges of the holes are sewn so that the fabric does not fray.

The most spectacular house slippers are leather ones. They last longer and remain in excellent condition.

They are sewn as simply as other types of house shoes. The only thing here is that you will need slightly different tools and materials. But, all these tools and materials can be easily found in every home.

What is needed for production:

  • Faux and real leather. Priority goes to thick flaps. Login will go old women's bags, used shoes, furniture, old jackets, hats and raincoats
  • Not a thick piece of felt
  • Small piece of foam rubber
  • Disposable slippers
  • Non-woven fabric with adhesive backing
  • Shoe glue or Moment or even super glue will do
  • Special needle. Thick, curved edge. If you don’t have one, a crochet hook will do.
  • Old house slippers for pattern
  • For holes in the skin, a punch. If he's not there, it doesn't matter. A thick nail and pliers will do. hot nail on gas stove, clamped in pliers, you can easily burn the required number of holes.

The work begins with the soles of disposable slippers. Glue all the slots with glue and wait for them to dry.

But while the glue dries, without wasting time, unripe the old slippers in order to make a pattern out of them.

New soles are cut from the soles of disposable slippers using a pattern made from old slippers.

Four pieces of leather sole are required for the outsole with allowances of 1 cm along the contour. For the top of the slippers, 4 parts of the top are cut out, also according to a pattern from old slippers with 1 cm allowances, on the sides at the junction with the sole.

The 2 parts of the top are cut out of non-woven fabric, 1 cm smaller along the entire contour. Non-woven parts are glued through gauze with a hot iron to the front side of the top parts.

To continue making leather slippers, two upper parts are glued together. Coat the edges at a distance of 1 cm with glue and connect. This is done by weight, on the hands to give shape.

After the glue has dried, the parts are trimmed around the circumference with scissors.

The next step is to use a punch (or a nail heated on a fire) to make holes from the edge, retreating 0.5 cm and keeping a distance of 1 cm between the holes. This is done along the line coinciding with the rise of the leg and fingers.

A 7 mm strip of leather is also cut out, threaded through a needle and stitched over the edge going through each hole.

The ends of the leather tape are glued to the wrong side of the part with glue.

Now cut out insoles from felt or felt, 2 pieces. For this, an outsole pattern is used. Additionally, two half-insoles are cut out.

Two “heel” parts are cut out of foam rubber. All these parts are glued together like a “sandwich”.

First, the outsole is glued to it, the insole generously lubricated with glue is glued, then the “heel” is glued under the heel and the half-insole is glued last. This produces the basic blank for the bottom of leather slippers.

Leather soles are glued to this resulting workpiece on both sides. Apply liberally with glue along the contour of the leather parts.

The entire resulting structure dries well. Then the upper part is glued to the lower part along the side lines.

The steps are repeated with punching holes with a punch or burning with a nail. The distance is 5 mm from the edge of the slippers along the entire circumference and 1 cm from each other.

An additional cut leather tape with a thickness of 7 mm is used to stitch the entire edge of the slippers. The next one is glued to the ending leather tape and stitched in this place for strength.

To consolidate the result, the sandals are sewn again using a “loop” seam. An additional element is a felt or felt applique decoration attached to the top of the front of the top.

stylish sandals

The main parts, lining and soles are made of thin felt or felt. After drawing the pattern, cut out the upper parts from the main fabric. This is a one-piece sandal upper, insole and sole. Additional ones are a jumper and a strap for fastening. They are rectangular pieces.

The lining is sewn on a sewing machine to the main part, folding them right sides together. The allowance is cut very close to the seam, leaving 1-2 mm. Turn it inside out and once again sew a “straight seam” along the edge, at a distance of 1-2 mm.

Rectangular patches for straps and jumpers are each folded face inward and stitched, leaving one edge unsewn. Turn the open edge inside out and hem it. Then stitch along the edges at a distance of 1-2 mm on both sides. One edge of the jumper is sewn with a “cross stitch” in the center to the edge of the nose area of the front part. A loop is made from the free end and attached.

The strap for the fastener is made in the same way, but instead of a loop it makes a slot for a button and is processed with an overcast seam. A button is sewn on the sides of the sandals instead of a fastener.
The insole is attached to the upper part with a lining along the contour. Fold the allowances under the bottom of the insole and glue them. This creates a blank for the top of the sandal.

The last step is to glue the felt sole to the sandal blank.

But if the shoes we wear to go outside or go to work must meet certain standards, then you can choose any indoor shoes depending on your desires. We offer you several ideas on how to sew slippers with your own hands.

You can make many pairs of slippers for each family member and guests. The slippers can be different, or they can be made in the same style. Homemade slippers can also serve as a gift for a family member or close friend.

How to sew home slippers with your own hands. Instructions

In order to sew home slippers, you will need a durable soft material. The material can be old items made of thick knitwear, drape, leather, jeans or fur. Before you start sewing, decide on the model and color, sketch out a sketch and make a pattern. It is very easy to make a pattern based on the shape and size of the foot by placing the foot on a piece of paper and tracing it. For example, if you decide to make homemade slippers from felt, then making them may only take you half an hour.

To start, make a pattern as above, simply trace your foot, placing your foot on a piece of paper. Then, to the resulting drawn foot, draw two rectangles on the right and left, which will serve as a jumper holding the slipper on the foot. Once the pattern is ready, cut it out and place it on a piece of felt. It is enough to make a pattern for one foot, for example, the right one, its reverse part will serve as a pattern for the left foot.

Trace the pattern placed on a piece of felt with a pen and cut it out. Then connect the side parts of the jumper with each other into a ring, and try on the future slipper on your foot. Fix the jumper by adjusting it to the leg and sew. So you have a slipper. You can decorate it as your heart desires. Any decoration is suitable here: buttons, rhinestones, beads, fur.

Fabric slippers can also be made at home. In order not to fantasize with the pattern, you can tear up old slippers that have served their purpose and make a pattern in their likeness. If there are no old slippers in the house, then make a pattern yourself, also tracing your foot placed on a sheet of paper.

What to make the soles of house slippers from?

Stores sell felt insoles with pimples. For the sole, you need to buy these insoles (price 36 rubles and 70 kopecks) and trim them a little along the heel and toe.

Then, using “Moment - 1” glue, place the sole on the sewn or knitted slippers and carefully sew around the “gypsy” needle with thick thread with tight stitches. You will get a beautiful and neat sole.

Advantages of a “bumpy” sole

  • Felt breathes well and is washable;
  • Durable “pimples” give the product an anti-slip effect;
  • The inexpensive material is durable and abrasion-resistant, and the sole looks very decent.

And most importantly, you can make an excellent sole for slippers from it in almost 10 minutes!

If you don't want to use felt insoles as soles, look for another dense material. It can be several layers of dense fabric, leatherette, thick denim. After all, the main load falls on the sole, and if it is too thin, it will quickly fray and wear out. And walking in slippers with thin soles will not be very comfortable.

Good afternoon friends!

It turns out that you can quickly and easily create slippers with your own hands from scrap materials, and you don’t even need to look for a pattern of the right size. This is what Evgenia’s next competition entry and master class will cover.

Hello, friends. My name is Evgenia. For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in something, creating or performing something. I have favorite activities and hobbies, such as fishing. But I also like to try new arts and crafts or experiment with ones I already know. Different types My blog “” is also dedicated to creativity.

I’ve been thinking about making new slippers for a long time, but somehow I never got around to it. Therefore, the competition became an incentive for me.

It’s easy to make such slippers with your own hands, I will try to tell you in detail and show you in the photo.

Simple DIY slipper pattern

Patterns of home slippers with different sizes we won't need it. We will build patterns ourselves, from which we will cut out parts to fit your leg.

I have the patterns ready, I have been using them for several years. Therefore, I will describe this process briefly.

It’s better to make them on cardboard by tracing the foot - you will get a template for the sole. You will also need a cover for the top of the slippers. Trace the pattern of the sole from the toes to approximately the middle. Measure the rise of your leg and distribute this distance from the middle of the lid equally in both directions. Draw the corners of the lid to the extended mark.

Materials for making home slippers

You can make your own slippers from a wide variety of materials: thick fabric, old jeans, felt, felt, fur, leather, even.

These materials will go to the top of the slippers and insoles.

For slippers you will also need:

  • linoleum or thick leather for the soles
  • foam rubber 10 mm thick.
  • corrugated cardboard from a box
  • scissors
  • pen and marker
  • hook and thread.

Cut out the details of the slippers

On a piece of linoleum I draw a sole according to the pattern. Here you need to position the pattern correctly so that the sole does not end up on one foot.

I also draw the sole on the foam rubber; here the location does not matter. It is better to draw on foam rubber with a marker.

I draw the same sole on cardboard. It is better to place the pattern on the cardboard along or obliquely to the corrugations, but not across. This way the cardboard will not break while working and wearing slippers.

Now you need to make an insole that will cover the foam. Any dense materials are suitable for it, such as drape, soft felt, suit fabrics, denim or leather. I have thick knitwear. From the wrong side of the material I trace the pattern, but so that there is a distance of two centimeters between the patterns.

I start opening the lid. Here you need to select materials so that the lid holds its shape well. I will use the same jersey as for the insoles and use it to make a pattern for the inner part that will be in contact with the foot.

I will make the upper part of the lid from a dermantine base.

I do not place the pattern for the top close to the edge of the material, but leave about 1 centimeter along the edges and trace it.

Having finished drawing, I move on to cutting. I cut out blanks on linoleum, cardboard, foam rubber and the inside of the lid according to the drawn contour.

And I cut out the insole for the sole and the upper part of the lid with an allowance, that is, stepping back from the outline by about a centimeter.

Gluing blanks

To prevent the blanks from moving apart when piercing, I glue them together. For this purpose I use any available glue, for example “Titanium” or “Moment”.

I glue the foam rubber to the wrong side of the insole, and the bottom blank of the lid to the wrong side of the top.

There is no need to apply much glue, just lightly along the edges and in the middle.

After the lid parts are glued together, I cut off the corners. I do this for convenience when tying.

Piercing holes

With an awl you need to pierce holes on all the parts, stepping back from the edge about 1 centimeter, maybe a little less. The distance between the holes is approximately 0.7-0.8mm.

Sole binding

I will knit the parts with nylon thread, the kind used for knitting fishing nets. But you can take any other synthetic thread.

First I tie the edge of the linoleum sole. I make a loop on the thread, insert the hook from the front side of the workpiece and pull out the loop.

Having tied the entire sole, I cut the thread and fasten it.

In the same way I tie the foam rubber with the insole, turning the edge of the insole inward. This will give neat look the finished product, since the foam rubber will not stick out through the threads.

It is more convenient to start tying from the center of the heel or toe; below I will explain why.

Having finished tying the foam rubber, I do not cut the thread, but leave a loop.

I apply the insole to the sole so that they match. I insert the hook through the loop of the insole and under the loop on the sole and connect both parts with connecting loops.

Having connected the side parts of the parts in this way on one side, on the other there remains a pocket between the parts, into which I insert a corrugated cardboard blank.

It is more convenient to insert it into this side pocket, and the cardboard does not break. And it is needed to give the sole rigidity, and so that the heel does not sag when walking.

Having inserted the cardboard, I continue to connect the parts to the end, cut the thread and fasten it.

The sole is completely ready, I start tying the edge of the lid.

Tying the cap (top) of slippers

I tie the lid, like the previous parts, holding the front side towards me and tucking the edge inward. I start knitting from the right corner, this will allow me to connect the lid to the sole without breaking the thread.

Connection between base and lid

So, the lid is completely tied, I apply it to the sole so that the corners are at the same level. I connect the lid to the sole using connecting loops.

In the same way I tie and connect the parts of the second slipper.

These are your own DIY slippers - simple and quick!

Slipper decor

I wanted to decorate the slippers additionally; after all, they will be entered into a competition.

Choosing the right decoration for a colorful surface is not easy. After going through many options, I settled on bows left over from an old bag.

Carefully trimmed the protruding edges.

I chose the place where I would attach them and made holes with an awl. I inserted the legs of the bows into them, folded them on the wrong side and pressed them tightly.

I bring to your attention the resulting soft home slippers - slippers, which I made with my own hands.

Zhenya, thank you for your participation in the competition and the very beautiful slippers, we just needed non-knitted ones, and also special thanks for the great work on creating the master class! And these slippers are perfect for guests when someone comes home, there is always a problem of what to give them to wear, and they will be great for the New Year and any other holiday.
