DIY witch costume for Halloween: patterns, instructions. Witch's cap and other magical attributes from legends and tales Casual clothes for a witch

On the eve of All Saints' Day, or Halloween, it's time to think about choosing a suitable costume.

If you prefer bright and colorful images filled with mysticism and mystery, you the outfit will suit witches. This classic character has long become a regular at fashionable masquerade parties, carnivals and youth gatherings.

And the image of a fairy-tale witch, enchanting and funny, was especially loved by children and teenagers.

So, let's get started?

Step 1. Choose the appropriate type of image!

Before you start going through your wardrobe in search of a “witch” outfit, you need to think about the type of your character, the details of his appearance and costume.

Which image of a witch you should choose depends on your imagination and preferences. The most popular options are:

  • Elegant dark sorceress;
  • Old Witch;
  • Dear witch;
  • Fairytale witch.

Each type of this image has its own characteristics.

We will explain below exactly how they differ and how to create the basis for them.

Elegant dark sorceress

This look is perfect for those who prefer sophisticated outfits. A seductive witch can wear a beautiful tight-fitting dress (preferably an evening one) or short skirt and a corset. A deep neckline in a suit is especially welcome.

Shoes or boots will serve as a unique addition. high heels.

The prototypes for your image can be characters from famous films: “Maleficent”, “Dark Shadows”, “Viy”, “Snow White and the Huntsman” (in the first photo), “American Horror Story: Coven” or “Snow White and the Huntsman”, “Grim” shadows", "Salem".

You can see them in the photo below.

Effective, isn't it? This look will be the brightest and most eye-catching at any costume party.

Old Witch

If you already transform, then thoroughly.

If these words are about you, then choose the image of a scary old witch.

Such a character will resemble the well-known Baba Yaga, with her unkempt shaggy hair, hooked nose and dark, lean skin.

In addition to the classic appearance of the Russian Yaga, you can opt for its foreign version: an old witch with bright green skin, a hooked nose and warts on the skin.

The outfit of such a witch does not at all resemble clothes from an expensive boutique - on the contrary, for a costume you will need the oldest and most unusable dress (or robe), which can be specially cut or frayed for greater effect.

Cute witch

Not all sorceresses are evil. Among them there are also kind, cheerful characters.

Let us remember, for example, Sabrina from the series of the same name or the heroine Cassie Nightingale from the series “The Good Witch”. Such witches resemble people more than evil spirits, but a certain mystical charm and element of mystery are not alien to their image.

The advantage of such a witch's costume is that it does not require a lot of makeup, although you can spice up the appearance with the help of elaborate body art on the face or false eyelashes with rhinestones.

Fairytale witch

This image came straight from the pages of well-known fairy tales.

A typical witch in a long mesh skirt, with a broom and an old scarf on her head, tied with a bow in the style of Solokha from the famous “Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka.”

However, you can modernize this image by making it look like characters from the fantasy world - fairies and elves.

The costume of such an enchanting witch will suit both children and adults. It may consist of a long dress, a beautiful tiara and a cloak.

And to make the witch look even more like a fairy, you can attach wings to her back (they can be made from wire and colored mesh or light fabric).

Step 2. Apply spectacular witch makeup

For creating bright image Whether you are a good sorceress or an evil witch, you need to find the most colorful cosmetics in your arsenal (perhaps even in the most unusual colors for you). Makeup should cover not only the face, but also open areas of the body - neck, décolleté, arms.

Let's consider the traditional version of the “witch” make-up:

  • First, we will prepare the skin of the face.
    Apply cream as a base.
  • Witches are usually quite pale.
    Therefore, we will apply white powder or light color to our face. Foundation, distributing it evenly over the skin.
  • For the eyes, you can use combinations of black, blue and silver, lining the contours of the eyes with elaborate ornate lines.
    Step by step application of this eye makeup style smoky eyes shown in the figure.
  • Another eye makeup option is long black arrows and bright pink eyeshadow.
    You can see how to apply cosmetics correctly in the following video.
  • If you are a fan of face art, you can draw abstract patterns on your face, luxurious ornaments, images of plants or wings (here you can give free rein to your imagination).
  • Eyelashes and eyebrows need to be painted as brightly as possible, because the image of a witch cannot be imagined without an expressive look.
  • If you like paleness, you don’t have to apply blush.
  • Eyes and temples can be decorated with stylized designs of cobwebs and even decorative spiders. We offer options for makeup ideas with cobwebs in the photo below.
  • Ready?
    Now the final touch is to paint the lips. For this you will need dark lipstick rich colors - red, burgundy, black or brown.

If you want to apply makeup rather than makeup, next video will be useful to you. It shows how you can visually change the shape of your face and its features, creating the image of an evil witch.

Children's witch makeup is created in a similar way: after applying the base, the face is painted in desired color using blush, powder or foundation.

Since children's skin is delicate, you should check its reaction to cosmetics (for this cosmetic product applied to the skin of the child's hand).

You can also use special children's hypoallergenic cosmetics.

One of the makeup options for the image of a witch for a girl with elements of body art is shown in the pictures:

For an older girl, you can do simple, elegant makeup with a light hazy effect, shading the cheeks and highlighting the eyes.

One of the most spectacular images for a party is considered to be a cat one. We'll tell you how to choose a costume and create an original one.
And if your partner chose the brutal image of Dracula, we’ll advise you on the costume and apply the makeup yourself.

Step 3. Witch hairstyle

There can be several hair styling options to create the image of a dark sorceress. Most of them will require you to let your hair down and make it full.

A slight carelessness of the hairstyle is even welcome.

However, if you choose the image of an elegant witch, you need to style your hair neatly and stylishly. They can be straightened, giving the strands perfect evenness, or curled, adding volume to the hairstyle.

You can also do a bouffant in the style of Elvira (a kind of “hello” from the eighties).

It is ideal for middle length hair and those who have bangs. (pictured left)

The hairstyle of a fashionable witch can be complemented with colored or gray (pictured on the right) strands. To do this, you can use special artificial curls or paint cans for temporary hair coloring.

Don't be afraid to experiment with your hairstyle! Try to create a real “witch” styling with an asymmetry effect, using the strongest hold varnish.

Another hairstyle option is the popular Crow's Nest. To do this style, you need to twist the strands in the form of a nest and secure them with 10 bobby pins.

Step 4. Do a Halloween manicure

When creating the image of a witch, you need to pay attention to details, in particular, manicure. There may be several options:

  1. Solid coloring of nails (black, red, burgundy, brown, purple).
  2. Elements of simple ornaments.
  3. Special stickers for nails.
  4. Professional manicure with a pattern.
  5. Overhead tips.

For a manicure It’s better to choose bright varnishes and pattern colors for nails, because the shockingness of your image will depend on this detail.

STEP 5. Where to get a witch costume for Halloween?

A witch's outfit consists of several traditional elements that are integral attributes of any witch.

So, the wardrobe of a dark sorceress includes the following:

  • Hat. Its classic version is a tall cone of black, green or purple with wide brims. It can be made from thick cardboard and fabric, and decorated with various buckles, straps, stars, nets, cobwebs, toy spiders or bats.
  • Skirt. The dark skirt is classic version outfit for a witch. An elegant look will look great with a sophisticated long skirt, calmer - with a short one, and fabulous - with a mesh baggy skirt reminiscent of rags.
  • Cape or cloak. This element of the costume can be added at will. It can be made from light glossy fabric or mesh, and decorated in the same way as a hat.
  • Fishnet tights. They are ideal for elegant sorceresses and cute witches.
  • Belt with buckle. Large plaques on the belts will make the witch’s outfit especially expressive, and will also create the effect of antiquity.
  • Corset. If you decide to wear a skirt, be sure to match it with a corset - it will perfectly highlight your figure and make it slim.
  • Shoes. Typically, witches wear long high-heeled boots or black boots. One of the shoe options is black shoes with turned-up toes (they can be made from old shoes by attaching a tip of the required length to their socks and pasting it over using the papier-mâché technique).

Children's costumes can be made from similar elements. They will have one distinctive feature- color spectrum. Colorful outfits are perfect for girls, which can be decorated with flowers and bows.

Step 6 – Finally, let's select accessories

As we complete our preparations for the Halloween party, let’s pay attention to the accessories for the witch look.

It can be:

  • unusual handbags a la Shapoklyak;
  • brooms;
  • magic wands with stars at the ends;
  • toy spiders;
  • lizards, snakes or bats;
  • ribbons, silk bows;
  • antique pendants, large earrings;
  • talismans, tarot cards and other attributes of a true witch.

Follow the tips above and your witch outfit will stand out at any costume party!

Appearance is the most striking indicator of a witch's nature. Many people endowed psychic abilities, have a noticeable flaw or a bright, catchy appearance.

Hair color and length are the most striking feature. Often witches have fiery red or blue-black hair. long hair, which seem to be filled with power. If a woman carefully braids her hair in public or, on the contrary, constantly wears it loose, strictly ensures that her hair is not touched by strangers and scrupulously destroys hair removed from the comb, then you can take a closer look: it is possible that this woman knows the secrets of nature and familiar with the concepts of energy metabolism.

External flaw is the second extremely important indicator. Strabismus, lameness, or noticeable birthmark is considered a mark indicating the otherworldly power of the owner of the imperfection. However, the absolute, striking, perfect beauty of the face and figure is also a clear sign of this woman’s abilities.

Rare eye color is another sign of witches, who often have green, black or blue eyes. Also, women with a penchant for extrasensory perception and witchcraft often have the ability to put a person in their place with one glance or to win them over.

If a woman from your not-so-close circle causes you irrational fear or, on the contrary, you cannot resist her silent participation and tell her all your secrets, and she sits silently and does not take her eyes off you, then you are almost certainly a witch.

The wardrobe of women with witchcraft abilities is often characterized by a predominance of dark and natural colors, natural fabrics and loose fit. But if, naturally, on certain days, your colleague or friend, who constantly wears elegant, discreet and modest clothes, suddenly puts on a bright, flashy dress and drives the entire male half of the team crazy, then most likely this is not without reason: witches, due to the attention of others, can raise and feed your energy.

Jewelry and accessories unusual girls often incomprehensible to many people: for example, witches rarely wear a combination of silver and gold, they can wear an incomprehensible symbol on their necks and do not allow anyone to touch their jewelry, much less try it on.

What does her behavior say about a witch?

The behavior of a witch in almost any life situation will be different from the behavior of an ordinary woman. There are several of the most obvious signs of a person’s unusualness and the presence of certain abilities.

The ability to predict the future is perhaps the fundamental characteristic of a witch. Many women, who do not want to be suspected of having abilities, deliberately hide them, but spontaneous predictions can be impossible to hide.

For example, if your colleague always guesses what mood your boss is in and never falls under hot hand”, speaks about some matter and subsequently always turns out to be right, or in a bad mood she gloomily wishes “good” to a colleague who irritates her, and her words come true after a while - then you are probably looking at a witch who has the power of words and the gift of fulfilling her plans.

Love for animals is another sign of a modern witch by which one can recognize her. A witch will never throw a kitten into the street and will not be afraid of a street dog. She will talk to the dog as if it were her own, and she will take the cat from the street, wash it, and in some incredible way place it in kind hands in a couple of days.

A woman with abilities is very rarely afraid of spiders, snakes or mice, almost certainly gets a black or red cat - the color of her hair, and is able to “negotiate” with an evil yard dog so that she will sincerely rejoice at every meeting with a witch, hating everyone else neighbors.

Witches have knowledge of edible and medicinal herbal roots, adding them to almost any dish and constantly experimenting with spices. And this does not spoil the food, but on the contrary, makes it more tasty.

The witch loves unusual teas, is often scrupulous about the use of utensils, and in response to a complaint about a headache, she can offer a herbal mixture that will help.

Speech and manner of speaking will help to recognize a witch: these women carefully monitor their speech, as if weighing every word, especially when they are angry or upset.

Even at the peak of emotions, you won’t hear useless curses or screams from a witch: she knows that her words can come true, and if she wishes evil, then it is measured, thoughtfully, and in such a tone as if she is saying goodbye forever.

Learn more about such essential attributes of witchcraft as the witch's cap, cauldron, coven and other magical terms. Some of them exist only in legends, but some of the attributes are actually used by witches.

In the article:

Witch hat - legends and truth

The witch's hat is her traditional attribute. It is difficult to find a person who has not seen such a headdress. It is becoming extremely popular on, which is celebrated by both ordinary people and magicians and sorcerers. Along with a cauldron and a magic broom, a pointed hat is mentioned in the media - film and cartoon witches and magicians use these attributes. So, even the heroines of the series Charmed used caps in one of the episodes, despite the fact that they are modern residents of the metropolis.

The history of fashion mentions many types of hats similar in shape to the one preferred by witches. These are gennins, Phrygian caps and other delights of fashion from different times. The earliest example of a pointed hat was discovered by archaeologists in China. Black felt caps date back to the fourth century BC. They were put on the mummies of three women. These hats made famous Subeshi necropolis where they were found.

Historians do not know exactly when society began to consider pointy hats part of a witch's outfit. Medieval depictions of witches, including records of inquisitors, show witches naked, without any headdresses, jewelry or other components of the outfit. Their only attributes attributed by medieval authors are a potion cauldron and a broom.

Beginning in the 17th century, witches began to appear in illustrations of children's fairy tales. Of course, the authors could not leave them in their original form - the ideas of medieval artists were not compatible with the new rules of decency and morality. At this time, fairy-tale and folklore witches began wearing caps. It was only in the 18th century that they began to be depicted wearing pointed hats. G. Jensen is sure that this was a way to hint at belonging to the world of magic in the illustration.

However, the question of the connection between caps and magic remains open to this day. According to legend, in medieval Europe, discovered witches were forced to wear headdresses that symbolized church spiers. This symbolized the salvation of the lost soul of an accomplice of evil spirits. In Spain, witches were burned dressed in ridiculous robes and pointed hats. Another opinion is the similarity with the horns of the Devil.

Witches use the cap to make potions

In the 13th century, the Catholic Church required Jews to wear similar hats to distinguish them from Christians. This made it easier to persecute the Jews. Witches were also persecuted by the church, perhaps this is the hidden meaning. Later, the Devil and heretics began to be painted in such hats. As a badge of honor, the hat was used by Quakers, who were often considered witches. But their headdresses were not pointed.

Before the advent of our era, high headdresses had a sacred meaning. This is how the priests stood out from the crowd; they depicted gods in similar hats. In ancient European burials, caps that were gilded were found. Some symbols were discovered on them that could be an ancient ritual calendar.

After the end of the Middle Ages, the pointed cap remained a symbol of punishment. Chinese revolutionaries wore such hats on enemies of the people. In America and England they were used to punish children in schools. Nowadays, the conical hat has remained only a detail fancy dress. Witches do not use it to complement their ritual attire. However, the sacred meaning of the hat was repeatedly described by them - it connects the wearer with those convicted of witchcraft in the Middle Ages, symbolizing the concentration of the mind and high intelligence.

Witch's egg is one of the rarest mushrooms

Witch's egg

A disgraceful person, a cheerful person, an upstart, a stand-up person, an immodest phallus, a morel, a devil's or a witch's egg- one of the rarest mushrooms. Versions of the name, both folk and Latin, are due to the appearance of the mushroom - it resembles the male genital organ. The mushroom exudes extreme bad smell, similar to the “aroma” of rotting meat. Its unusual nature has given rise to numerous superstitions. At the initial stage of growth, the mushroom looks like a chicken egg.

They began to call it the witch’s egg, since this mushroom is very popular among witches and healers. With its help, many diseases are treated. A witch's egg can be eaten until its natural decomposition processes begin. This can be done to prevent diseases; the mushroom is very useful in its raw form.

Smotnik is a natural aphrodisiac. You can do it on it, like most plants with similar properties. This mushroom can also help you become more attractive; anti-aging masks are made from it. Not only the pulp of the mushroom is used, but also an alcohol tincture based on it, which is used to treat wounds and tumors.

Where are witches' spells stored - what is the Book of Shadows

Witches' conspiracies are extremely rarely kept in memory and are transmitted orally. It would be extremely difficult to remember this amount of information. Witches keep records, regardless of which tradition they prefer. They are usually called Books of Shadows. Modern witches also write such books, which are increasingly in electronic form.

Books with spells are usually passed on by inheritance or given to other witches if there are no children or they are not interested in witchcraft. Sometimes they remain without an owner until someone finds the records that were not transferred before death. For example, the notebook of Seraphima the Black, known to most practitioners, is one of the family grimoires of a whole family of witches, found by chance.

Personal grimoires contain magical experiences, recipes for potions, spell words, and particularly striking examples from practice. This is something like a diary, but it must be of practical use to another witch, and not just information about how a representative of the previous generation lived. Sometimes such records are deliberately made incomprehensible to the uninitiated, using a special code.

Witches' Sabbath - what happens at magical gatherings

The Sabbat is a meeting of sorcerers and witches, and in some legends also representatives of evil spirits, to jointly perform rituals for various purposes. In Christian mythology, the witches' Sabbath has a rather sinister meaning. If you believe these legends, witches fly to sabbaths on brooms, handles and other household utensils. Sometimes there are references to the use of livestock and unfaithful husbands as transport, who can fly through the air during the trip.

Satan, or one of the higher demons who replaces him, personally comes to the Sabbaths in the form of a goat. A candle burns between his horns. The witches report to the representative of the demonic nobility about everything they have done since their last meeting. According to ancient legends, with the help of magic they spoiled the harvest, caused damage, stole milk from cows and ruined people's lives in many other ways.

After the report, rewards and punishments were distributed, and then the feast began. Some legends also mention orgies with the participation of demons, devils and demons. This description of the Sabbath is characteristic only of Christian times, when people with magical abilities began to be persecuted. Sabbats were also called pagan holidays in their traditional, familiar form centuries ago.

In the modern sense, a coven is a meeting of witches for the purpose of performing a ritual. As a rule, witches gather together for witchcraft holidays, for example, Samhain, Beltane and others. Sometimes new and full moon days are celebrated as separate holidays. A coven can also be synonymous with a coven - a group of witches who practice one type of magic and conduct joint rituals.

Witches cauldron, bowl and other important witches tools

The witch's cauldron, along with the pointed hat, is one of the popular symbols of witchcraft and attributes of witches. It is believed to be used to make potions and other concoctions. Unlike the hat, the cauldron is still a magical instrument to this day. Traditionally, witches use it to prepare potions, as well as to burn components of rituals that take place indoors.

The boiler can be made from almost any material. The most popular option is cast iron, durable and reliable. Magical symbols are engraved or drawn on the sides of the cauldrons, which perform witchcraft and aesthetic functions.

The bowl is used for drinking juices or wines during rituals. In some branches of European traditions, bowls and cauldrons are used for offerings to spirits and gods. Both the bowl and the cauldron - female symbols, dedicated to the Great Mother Goddess.

Witch amulets - what they are and what they are used for

Witch amulets are not all the decorations that you can see on a witch. Exist ritual decorations- these are those that are usually worn only on Sabbaths or during rituals. They are supposed to be consecrated in a special way so that they perform protective functions, help to concentrate, and symbolize the tradition that the witch practices.

Everyday amulets are necessary to solve problems that appear on the event horizon every day. So, every magician needs protective amulets. Attraction amulets are used from time to time - for good luck, money or love. In addition, magical symbolism in jewelry will help you find a like-minded person.

Regarding magical symbolism, there is an unspoken rule - you can only wear those symbols that correspond to your magical practice. If you have nothing to do with black magic, you should not wear inverted pentagrams and other dark symbols. Pagan symbols are traditionally worn by pagans, and no one else but them.

Fairy circle, or witch circle - legends and meaning

Elven rings, fairy circles and witch circles- these are circles of mushrooms that are sometimes found in forests far from human habitation. Their diameter can reach from several tens of centimeters to several meters. Such circles are most often formed by poisonous mushrooms, and they usually appear in rarely visited places.

Witches circle

European folklore attributes the appearance of witch circles to the dances of fairies, forest spirits, as well as witch gatherings and covens. According to legends, sometimes dead people were found in the center of such circles. The fairies invited passers-by to take part in their dances. They killed those who agreed in the morning, and punished those who disagreed with disease.

Another interpretation of the witch circle is one of the synonyms of a coven or coven, that is, a group of witches who practice the same tradition. There is also a magic circle - a sacred space in which the ritual takes place. It is created in various ways, as usual, it all depends on the type of magic.

In general, most magical attributes are attributed to witches exclusively by legends and tales of different times. But some of them are actually used by sorcerers even in our time. Some legends have a lot in common with the truth.

In contact with

Some modern Western gatherings of witches (covens) and many of the so-called. Solitary Witches are said to prefer to work naked. (Perhaps it came from Gardner...) They believe that in the Craft, clothing should only be the sky. (A play on the words "clad only by the sky" and skyclad - "naked") To some this seems to be the preferred and recommended practice. But in principle this is not always necessary. And it makes sense to strip naked when it is really necessary for some reason or for something. (For example, in purely Wiccan middle-class rituals... in nature, near a river and with round dances.)

It is convenient to walk around at home in such shirts and robes, that is, to walk around in “your” clothes. Sewn the way you want, free and decorated accordingly. (Much better than wandering around in terry robes, old dresses or a T-shirt with shorts.) A nice shirt can be used to receive less formal guests.

Material

It is better to choose “natural” material, that is, linen (note: it wrinkles very easily), cotton, wool, silk. Shirts of this type are worn on naked body and this must also be taken into account.

The color of special clothing is very important. Quite popular are ordinary white robes and colored robes for various public witch holidays. Or, for example, the Saxon priestess of Wicca is usually dressed in white, purple, or dark green clothes. And the rest just wear green, brown, yellow or blue dresses. But this rule is by no means a law, but just their own whim. (Especially since they say that Saxon Wicca was invented as a joke...) Clothes can combine different colors. The most traditional combinations are with silver or gold. Combinations of two colors are also common in such clothes. In the mantle, the color of the main and the color of the lining usually contrast.

Some witches prefer to wear black, knowing that it is a very “strong” color, or rather the absence of color. But American ideologists of Wicca, for example, sometimes warn against wearing ritual black clothes in in public places, believing that this could lead to confusion in the public’s understanding of witchcraft with Satanism, which is not good.

American Wiccans say that their witchcraft is a “religion of Nature”, that’s why they need to use bright “natural” colors... Well, not everyone has to listen to this nonsense. By and large, white is the color of day, black is the color of night. Neither is better or worse than the other. But black looks unnoticeable, and white catches the eye.

YELLOW colored robes are said to be good for those who practice divination. I find this strange. Yellow- one of the main four colors. And usually it means spontaneity and immediacy. He is active and expansive. But this activity is impulsive. In traditional psychology, it is believed that people who prefer it are inquisitive and fickle. Yellow color reflects liberation from shackles, denouement. Its emotional content is optimistic variability. In practice, clothes of this color can only be used in appropriate rituals. This color can be good as a complementary color. Yellow is the color of the Sun and its day is Sunday. BLUE color is considered to be for those who work with psychic energies and with the Oceanic, Sea appearance, the hypostasis of the Great Goddess. Blue color passive, sensitive and receptive. Blue ritual clothing is good for quiet meditation practice or, sometimes, mediumship. Blue is the color of calm waters, even temperament, femininity, and spirituality. It has significant depth and volume. It is the blissful embodiment of the highest ideals of unity, fusion and return to Gaia, mother of the Earth. Blue is infinity in time, embodying tradition and Eternal values. Blue is the color of Jupiter and its day - Thursday. RED or orange clothes are worn, for example, on Sabbat holidays or worn to perform protective rituals (which is not good for all rituals this kind, IMHO), or to work with the emanations of God (for Wiccans, God is always the Horned God) in his fiery manifestation. In general, red is always a desire to achieve success and results. This is the impulse and will to win, the most active color, also the color of competition. It usually symbolizes the blood shed in struggle, the fire that ignites human spirit, masculine. Orange color, as a mixture of red and yellow, means, among other things, active energy consumption. Purple, Crimson, VIOLET is said to be good for those who deal with "pure divine energy", that is, for magicians or for those who seek to identify themselves with the divine emanations of the Goddess and God. Purple (for simplicity, I will continue to name one shade), and all those mentioned here, as you know, are various combinations of blue and red. Accordingly, they exhibit, to varying degrees, the qualities of both colors. It combines the impulsive victoriousness of red and the soft compliance of blue, expressing precisely the idea of “identification”. This is a kind of charm, a dream that has become reality, a magical state. It is not for nothing that in fantasy literature the wizard is often dressed in violet or lilac attire. These colors are also quite unbalanced, so it is hardly suitable as the main color of permanent ritual clothing. Violet, purple colour- the color of the “fickle” Mercury and its day - Wednesday. GREEN-colored clothing is suitable for those who work with plants. But it is also the color of the ability to passively defend yourself and overcome obstacles. It is also a symbol of constant resistance to something and some tension. People who prefer green color, like to set their own rules for others. Green clothes are good for casual wear, or mass ceremonies, rather than for special ritual work. It is not for nothing that in Wicca it is the color of status. This is the color of Venus and her day Friday. BROWN clothes, as they say, are worn by those who work with animals, or with the aspect of the Goddess - the patroness of animals. The life principle of this color is not an active force, as for example in the color red, but is only passive, perceived at the level of sensations. Brown color is closely connected with the physical state of the body, with corporeality, animality. This is the color of “your hearth”, home, herd feeling, security. WHITE robes symbolize purification and the pursuit of pure spirituality, and are also preferred for meditation and cleansing rituals. White robes are worn during full moon festivals. White is the color of the beginning. Almost any additional colors go well with it, for example red, or red and black. This is the color of the Moon and its day - Monday. BLACK clothes are very popular. The color black symbolizes night and protection. This is, in essence, the absence, the negation of color. If White color- this is the beginning, then black is the end. Black color is the border beyond which ordinary life ceases. It’s as if he doesn’t belong to this world. That's why we love it so much. It is also extremely passive and affects any color that is nearby.

Variant of the classic Slavic shirt quite acceptable and personally loved by me. This is traditional ritual clothing, one might say - the first ritual clothing of European peoples as a whole.

In Russia it persisted until the beginning of the 20th century. East Slavic witches performed their rituals in shirts (and very rarely naked). A shirt is wearable, both everyday and festive clothing, which was sewn from various fabrics. It is quite remarkable that (at least by the 19th and 20th centuries) girls, women and old women constantly wore belted shirts. A married women They were used only at work (mowing or harvesting flax).

Women's shirts vary in design. They can be solid, sewn along the entire length from solid panels of fabric. They can also be composite, made from two parts, sometimes made from different fabrics. Usually this is how the top and bottom of the shirt were distinguished. The top is made of the best or colored fabric.

The most archaic are considered to be tunic-like one-piece shirts. They were sewn from a sheet of fabric folded in half, forming the front and back. A small round hole was made in the center for the head and a small suprasternal incision. Long sleeves were sewn to the upper part of the cloth folded in half. Thus, the shirt, which was not yet sewn on the sides, had the appearance of a cross. The hem (in several rows), sleeves, neckline, and shoulders (where the main part of the shirt and sleeves are sewn together) were decorated with ornamental stripes. The collar and chest slit of such a shirt were trimmed with bias tape, often red.

How do witches dress? What clothes to wear for a gothic party? We turned to the stylist Marina Svartsevich with these questions. Marina is a graduate of the Andre Tan Academy of Style and Beauty.

Today our conversation will be on a very unusual topic - the dress code of a female medium or psychic, witch, sorceress (in the old fashioned way) or healer. Since not only women, but also men can be mediums (and they are sometimes even much more authoritative in matters of predicting and managing the future than women) - with this in mind, we have prepared separate material for them.

on the picture:Marina Svartsevich

This profession - medium - has a lot of names; there are significant differences in nuances, but not so significant as to indicate the style of clothing for each name separately. The meaning of the image of a female witch always remains the same: an aura of some mystery and a connection with otherworldly forces, inaccessible to mere mortals - rather, incomprehensible to mere mortals. But this is only because they do not pay enough attention to the development of such skills...

Expression " Woman's intuition“everyone knows it, and in most cases, intuition works flawlessly, especially if it concerns the woman herself.

How to become a medium? Where do such abilities come from? If you plunge into history, say, in the Middle Ages, then the concept of “witch” was extremely widespread. Moreover, it was with a negative connotation, but one could call witches (witches) and healers, because they treated people with the help of herbs and spells, so to speak, folk and natural remedies.

And here we can already make a division into “good” and “evil”, even if it sounds a little fabulous. This is where we will start from when developing a wardrobe capsule for a female medium.

The clothes of witches who were associated with unclean, dark otherworldly forces are always black clothes, Long Dresses, skirts, wide raincoats with hoods, hats. Accordingly, witches who have similar abilities, but use them for the benefit of people, dressed in light clothes. Integral accessories for both the first and second looks have always been various pendants, rings, and bracelets.

When I think about a wardrobe for a female medium - for me, like anyone to modern man, I’m sure, a strong association with a female witch still comes to mind. The stereotype is triggered in part appearance- something must be long and always black. Almost like in the movie “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark” (but not so frank!).

However, if you remember other modern films, such as"Witches of Eastwood"" or" All women are witches", in which the witches in their everyday looks and don’t look intimidating and unusual at all, then you understand that women of any profession, first of all, Women dream of looking nothing but attractive.

So, having combined the past and the present, stereotypes and modern views, and adding to all this the fact that a medium (witch) is already one of the modern professions, I bring to your attention a collage of how, according to a stylist, a woman can dress medium: so that the first glance is enough to determine what she is doing.

Please note that it gives the image originality and mystery - we owe this impression precisely to the abundance of vintage-style accessories.

And if you also create an appropriate make-up, for example, like the same Elvira from the film« Elvira - mistress of darkness» , then not only a female medium, but any girl who does not have the necessary abilities at all, can safely appear in such clothes at a Gothic party. And be sure to take a pumpkin-shaped handbag with you - it will serve as the best addition to your look!
