DIY autumn wreath of acorns “Breath of Autumn”

This will decorate any interior.

Materials:

  • Tree branches (willow, willow);
  • acorn caps;
  • scissors;
  • sewing threads (light green, dark green, brown);
  • jute cord;
  • wool for felting (orange, yellow);
  • liquid soap;
  • water;
  • soup plate;
  • hand towel;
  • felt (light green, dark green);
  • album sheet;
  • a simple pencil;
  • Super glue;
  • sewing machine or sewing needle;
  • glue gun

1 step

We tie the willow branches together in a circle. Let's grab the branches with sewing thread so that it doesn't fall apart. Having given the wreath its shape, we finally secure the branches with a jute cord in a circle.

Step 2

We felt an acorn from wool using the wet felting technique. Felt small pieces of wool into an oval. Using the acorn caps we adjust the size of the wool acorn.

The number of acorns depends on the size of the wreath. It didn’t turn out very big for me, so I needed 10 acorns. It turned out 5 orange and yellow acorns. Let the wool ovals dry completely, and then glue the hats with super glue.

Step 3

Let's make 2 templates oak leaf. They should differ in size and shape.

Using the template, we cut out leaves from light green and blue felt, 6 pieces of each color.

Sew the veins using a machine, but you can also do it manually with a regular sewing needle.

Step 4

Using a glue gun, glue the felt leaves together and glue them onto the wreath.

Glue acorns on top of the leaves.

Step 5

Let's cut one and a half meters of jute cord and fold it in half.

We form a loop 15 cm long and make a knot at the end.

Natural materials are easy to collect during an autumn walk, they are stored for a long time and can serve as raw materials for making crafts at any time of the year.

Even if you are far from needlework, you will definitely be able to make a wreath of pine cones with your own hands in a simplified form - in the form of a panel. This design not only looks original, but is also stronger than the standard version. The decorations can be used as a New Year and Christmas wreath or for everyday home decor.

Preparing materials for work

To make a souvenir from the gifts of nature, you will need the following materials:

  • sheet of cardboard,
  • scissors,
  • sackcloth,
  • a stick of silicone glue in a special gun,
  • 8 fir cones,
  • 4 pine cones,
  • a couple of dozen acorns, preferably with caps.

Step-by-step master class

First of all, make a blank for the base of the wreath. For this purpose, you can use any type of cardboard you have on hand, for example, the lid of a box of chocolates. Cut out a ring of the intended diameter from it. Considering the size of the ring, cut the burlap into strips up to 7 centimeters wide so that their total length is enough to wrap the cardboard ring.

After securing the edge of the strip to the base using a few drops of silicone, wrap the ring tightly with burlap in a clockwise direction.

The prepared base can be decorated. To this end, armed with wire cutters, carefully cut off half of the pine cones.

The center of the cut part of each cone must be generously greased with silicone and, turning this side down, attached to a base wrapped in burlap.

Place a pair of fir cones between the pine trees. Also attach them using silicone glue applied to the side, with the tops facing outward.

Between fir cones in a standing position, glue one acorn onto the wreath. Attach another acorn in the gap between the cones in a horizontal position.

The decorative inflorescences will be the caps of acorns, attached with the inner side up in the middle of each pine cone.

Now you can move on to making a rosette - attaching a wreath of pine cones to a wall or other surface. To do this, you need to cut out a cardboard circle with a diameter of 5 centimeters and glue acorns to it in the shape of a flower on a layer of silicone.

Form a loop from several strong threads of the burlap used in the process. Secure the ends of the loop firmly to the back of the inflorescence circle.

At the last stage of work, the round mount with a loop must be connected to the main product. For this purpose, burlap fibers are again used. Having cut the required length, place them on silicone, one edge on the inner surface of the inflorescence with a loop, and the second on the back side at the top of the wreath.

This is how beautiful and colorful the pine cone wreath turned out, following a master class with step-by-step photos prepared by Olga Shakhovskaya for readers of the online magazine “Women’s Hobbies.” It will become an original, eye-catching accessory that will perfectly diversify the interior of the room. To give your craft a New Year's touch, sprinkle it with gold sparkles and decorate with tinsel.

Read about what other crafts can be made from this affordable natural material. To prevent the cones from opening in the heat, they can be coated with varnish.

Wreaths of pine cones decorate the house and fill it with an atmosphere of magic. They are associated with cheerful winter holidays and create a special mood. By the way, making such a wreath with your own hands is not at all difficult. We bring to your attention options for its production.

Hanger as a base

This option is the simplest. Take a clothes hanger made of bendable wire. The hook should be left unchanged, and the hangers themselves should be given the shape of a circle. One end of the hanger will have to be untwisted in order to string the pine cones onto it. By the way, they can be painted, for example, with gold paint. Glue small plastic rings to the pine cones. String cones with rings onto a circle. Twist the free edge of the wire. Attach a large satin ribbon bow on top to cover the hook and decorate your wreath.

Newspaper wreath base

Make a ring base from newspapers, rewind it so that it is held tightly with thin wire, thread or rolled paper. Cut a strip of organza (width 15 cm, length 1.5 m), wrap it around the frame, and secure with a glue gun. Wrap the frame with green rain imitating spruce branches. Glue pine cones, small fake vegetables, flowers and leaves.

We use ready-made materials for creativity

You can take a ready-made base for a wreath. They are sold in abundance in departments for handicrafts. Glue acorns, halves of walnut shells, small cones and beads to it, and make bows from brown linen rope (this is how bags used to be tied). Your wreath is ready!

Twigs as a base

Tie pliable thin branches so that you get a base that resembles a nest without a bottom. Attach pine cones, decorative twigs and beads to the base. Paint the pine cones with silver paint.

To make the wreath look impressive and elegant, you can paint it with spray paint, sprinkle it with sparkles, and decorate it satin ribbons, bows, small Christmas tree decorations, beads, etc. The more decorative elements, the better. Arts and crafts shops sell beautiful twigs, stars and flowers for decoration.

You can make a wreath that will be combined with the general design idea, for example, decorate it in the same color scheme, like the Christmas tree or vice versa, make it as natural as possible. It is very convenient to fix decorative elements with transparent silicone glue, a glue gun, or using thin wire.

Most often, such wreaths are decorated front door, or quite possible.

Acorn wreath master class

What you will need:

  • Ready-made straw base for a wreath (everything for creativity is sold in stores);
  • Acorns without caps;
  • Glue gun.

Stages of creation.

Everything is simple here. Apply thermal glue to the base for the wreath and immediately glue the acorns, tightly joining each other. The offset placement of acorns looks very beautiful, so from the outside it seems as if they smoothly intertwined the base, and from a distance they even resemble snake scales. So it is necessary to cover the entire base completely from the end part and along the edges.

Finally, if desired, the wreath can be painted with spray paint in any color you like: red, yellow, green or white. After the product has dried, it will remain on top to tie a ribbon or rope woven from pieces of natural fabric. This wreath doesn’t require any more decorations; it looks very decent even without them! He will definitely be provided with attention from those around him.

Crafts from acorns in interior decor + MK

You can create many different compositions from acorns that you can use for interior decoration. Today we decided to show a few ideas with visual master classes.

DIY acorn wreath

To create a wreath of acorns you will need:

A bag of acorns (you can use only the caps or just the grain itself)

A circle made of any material for the base (tightly wound straw, foam, plastic, wood)

Glue (hot glue gun)

Decor (spray paint, ribbons, glitter, tree branches, etc.).

Acorn wreath step by step:

The process of creating such a wreath, like other acorn crafts presented in our article today, is quite simple!

Take a pre-prepared base suitable shape and begin to carefully glue each individual acorn onto it in a given direction (Figure 2-3).

As a result, you will get a rather original wreath, which can be left in in kind and color, and paint it in any desired color. Finally, you can decorate it to your taste with beads, sparkles, spruce branches, and leaves.

DIY balls and acorn tree

Below is a visual master class:

Compositions from acorns (we decorate a vase)

Acorns themselves are quite a beautiful material, so you can simply pour them into a glass vase and get a rather unusual decor. What if you paint them a given color?

Acorns in the decor of a candlestick

Necessary materials:

Glass vase or jar

Rope

Scissors

Fill a vase or glass jar 3/4 full with acorns. Then start wrapping the rope around the center of the vessel. Once you have wrapped it to a sufficient width, cut the rope and secure it.

Now you can add something to the vase to make it more interesting. You can put a candle or dried flowers, reeds, sticks in it.
