A modest birthday menu for colleagues. Birthday menu at work: sweet table

What can you treat your work colleagues on your own birthday, but still stick to the budget option? A birthday is a wonderful holiday, but to celebrate it you have to take care of many details. Since childhood, it has been a tradition that on your birthday you must treat your team and friends, and only then accept their gifts and congratulations. With age, the tradition does not change, but on the contrary brings more troublesome questions: buy or cook it yourself, turn to catering or do it yourself, and if you do it yourself, then what to cook and what to treat your work colleagues for their birthday?

A little about tradition

The philosophy is simple: on the occasion of your holiday, you, first of all, as the birthday person, show people respect and care. Even if among them there are unpleasant personalities. It is precisely so that the latter do not have a reason to speak negatively about you, it is necessary to prepare for the festival in advance, but not to harm yourself. Don’t think that treating your colleagues on your birthday with a budget option is shameful. The main thing is the approach.

Festive table and its nuances

It is necessary and needs to be thought through, so first of all the question of dishes arises.
Of course, it’s up to you to choose between “standard” dishes and plastic ones. But, given the specifics of the event that takes place in the office, we advise you to lean towards plastic. One of the advantages of this choice is the ease of movement (a plastic plate is easy to lift, unlike a heavy glass dish, for example). Also, plastic dishes cannot be broken - if you prepare a lot of different dishes, the plates will move from guest to guest, and the sound of fragments and broken dishes can somewhat darken the impression of colleagues from the holiday. In addition, plastic dishes do not need to be washed because... they just throw it away.

But other details that need to be prepared are no less important, namely:

To avoid mistakes with treats in advance, it would be good to know the preferences of your colleagues, but if time is lost, then it is worth remembering the special category of food and drink for teetotalers, dieters, religious people and vegetarians. For example, it may happen that almost all meat dishes are prepared from pork, and a person who adheres to the dogmas of Islam comes to the event.

Treats on the menu

Often at such events it is customary to serve sandwiches, spring rolls, tartlets with caviar, cold cuts or small elegant ones (canapés), which serve as a wonderful snack. All these dishes are quite inexpensive and easy to prepare.

Recipe: canapes with herring.

The dish is simple to prepare, but very tasty. You can easily take the ingredients with you to work and start cooking with your colleagues. For this you will need:

Cooking method

  1. Cut off the crusts and then cut the bread into thin slices. You can choose the cutting shape yourself. The more options, the more varied the canapes will look on the table.

It is important to choose bread that will not crumble too much. It is also necessary to take care in advance that the knives are well sharpened.

  2. Coat the resulting pieces with a thin layer of mustard. It is very important not to overdo it - guests may not like the spicy taste of this sauce or even cause heartburn. If you or your guests don’t like mustard at all, replace it with cheese cream or simple mayonnaise.
  3. We also cut the cucumber/apple/kiwi into thin slices or rings and place them on pieces of bread. You don’t have to choose between three options, but make different ones using cucumber and apples with kiwi. It all depends on your preferences!
  4. The fillet should be cut in accordance with the bread slices, so that nothing hangs down or falls out. Then place the fish on apple/cucumber/kiwi slices.
  5. We pierce the resulting dish with toothpicks and thread whole or thinly sliced olives onto them. If desired, you can decorate the appetizer with herbs and the dish is ready!

Recipe: pancakes stuffed with cottage cheese.

The main advantage of this treat is that it can be partially prepared in advance and fried just before serving. You can also put them in the freezer without frying, and then cook them in a frying pan according to the recipe without defrosting. The dish is very convenient because... you don’t have to cook it directly on the day of the holiday.
The fillings, by the way, can be completely different. From minced meat and pate to jam.

You will need:

  • Wheat flour - 260 g
  • Chicken egg - 3 pieces
  • Cottage cheese - 250 g
  • Salt - to taste (preferably one pinch)
  • Sugar - two tbsp. spoons
  • Vegetable oil (spoon - in the dough, 2 tablespoons - in the frying pan) - 3 tbsp. spoons
  • Milk - about 250 - 300 ml
  • Butter (pre-melt) - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 250 - 300 ml

Cooking method

  1. Break 2 eggs into the chosen form, add a pinch of salt and sugar, as well as one tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix everything well, and then add milk and mix again.
  2. Add a little flour to the resulting mixture. Be sure to use small portions to avoid the formation of lumps and monitor the consistency. The result should be a thin dough, reminiscent of sour cream.
  3. By the time the dough is ready, the pan should be well heated. Be sure to grease its surface with vegetable oil and fry the pancake on one side only.

The most convenient way to grease a pan is to use a silicone brush or half an onion.

  4. Depending on taste preferences, there may be something else besides cottage cheese, but further differences in the recipe are insignificant. So, the cottage cheese in this recipe must be whipped with a blender. Next, add sugar (50 g), an egg and one teaspoon of butter, which had to be melted in advance, into the resulting mass. Then beat again with a blender until smooth. The filling comes out creamy, but despite the consistency, it will not flow out of the pancake. There is nothing to worry about!
  5. Place the resulting filling on the baked side of the pancake and fold its bottom edge so that the filling is covered. We do the same with the left and right edges. The end result should be a neat envelope. The fate of the prepared pancakes depends on further plans. It can be frozen without final frying, which will not spoil its taste in the future.
  6. But if you are still going to serve the dish now, then instead of refrigerating, put the pancakes back on the stove and fry on both sides until golden brown. The treat is ready!

Hodgepodge

An excellent solution would be to allow the guest to choose the ingredients for their own. You can slice the bread (warm it if possible) and lay out the various sandwich ingredients. Among them may be:

Other goodies

In addition to the obvious option of preparing all the dishes yourself, fast delivery should not be overlooked. Especially if the budget allows it.

Pizza or sushi are currently recognized favorites at various kinds of holidays and, although this is not the cheapest option (especially if there are a lot of people), it is practically a win-win option and, among other things, will help you save a lot of time on cooking and serving!

Despite the obvious advantages of fast delivery, always order food from services that you have already tested. After all, you don’t want fast delivery to last for hours of waiting, and the taste of the food to turn out to be far from expectations. This is how you can simply please yourself and treat your work colleagues on your own birthday!

According to the advice of http://svadbagolik.ru

It is important to remember about drinks:

They must be chilled. Red wine should be opened a few minutes before guests arrive. You can include tea or coffee in the menu.

Holidays of this format have gained popularity and spread for quite some time. A buffet at work may be the best option for holding an event with colleagues. In our article we will look at successful food options and some tricks that will help you organize the best holiday.

When is a buffet appropriate?

It is not always possible to have a feast everywhere. Usually the main argument in favor of a buffet table is the lack of “seats”. Not every room can accommodate a full table with a tablecloth and chairs. You can organize a buffet at work for a birthday if your office is not spacious enough to comfortably accommodate your colleagues.

And such an organization of the holiday is also liked by those who like to dance and have fun. Guests can freely communicate with each other and walk around the room, holding glasses and plates in their hands.

What not to submit

If you are organizing a buffet at work at lunchtime, alcohol is simply unacceptable. Even serving light wine will put your guests in an awkward position.

There are a number of dishes that are not usually served at a buffet table. These include the following:

  • ice cream;
  • fish that has bones;
  • salads in common salad bowls;
  • soups, roasts, stews.

Any other dishes that are inconvenient to put on a plate and eat while standing are not suitable for the menu. If it is customary to eat a dish with a fork and knife, it is also better to leave it for another occasion.

What to cook for the buffet? Let's take a closer look at popular treats.

Sandwiches, canapés

It is believed that these are the best and most convenient recipes for a buffet table. The main condition is that the sandwiches should be small. You can buy a French baguette to make them.

Canapes are a delicious and impressive appetizer that can become a real table decoration. Use different types of bread, and the main ingredients include ham and smoked sausages, various types of cheeses, small cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, olives and pickled mushrooms. They eat canapés while holding them by the skewer.

Vol-au-vents, tartlets, profiteroles

The word "buffet" has French roots and literally translates as "fork". Keep this in mind when deciding what appetizers to prepare for your work buffet.

It is inexpensive to purchase ready-made vol-au-vents or baskets. Today, similar products are available in any supermarket. All you have to do is stuff them. You can make the base yourself, from puff pastry or choux pastry. Pates, soufflés, seafood, boiled meat with sauce are used as fillings.

Meat and cheese plates

Long-standing Russian table traditions require the presence of a plate of sliced food at almost any holiday. You can serve this appetizer at a buffet at work.

If you want your pieces of sausage, ham and cured meat to look delicious and be easy to eat, don't rely on a knife. Buy a ready-made laser cutting product.

But the cheese does not have to be cut thinly. It will break, and it won't be that convenient to eat. It is better to cut the cheese into cubes. The more varieties there are, the better. The cheese is usually served with nuts, grapes and honey.

Dessert

It’s impossible to imagine a buffet at work for a birthday without sweets. If you decide to serve a traditional cake, think in advance whether it will be convenient to cut it, place it on plates and eat it.

An excellent dessert option for a buffet menu is cups of jelly. Small cakes would also be appropriate. Be sure to pay attention to the mousse desserts in velor or magnificent mirror glaze that are fashionable today. They look elegant and modern.

A good idea for a themed buffet would be cupcakes decorated in the same style.

Chocolates at the buffet table are served without wrappers. It is acceptable to serve sweets in an open box, but it is better to transfer them to special multi-tiered plates in advance.

Fruits

Is a whole pineapple or a basket of oranges appropriate for a buffet table? The answer is obvious. Large fruits are cut into small pieces. Watermelon and melon can be served together with the rind, cut into small triangular slices. But it’s more convenient to make balls using a special spherical spoon. Berries can be served in small glasses.

Do you need bread?

This question is quite ambiguous. A basket with pieces of bread is unlikely to look natural at an elegant buffet table. But some people simply cannot live without it.

But shu buns, toast and diet bread may be quite appropriate. You can place different types of bread on a common plate.

Fashionable recipes for a buffet table

Today, along with the classic ones, many unusual recipes are also common. If you are planning to host a buffet at work, pay attention to these new items.

Snacks look impressive in ordinary vodka glasses. This is how you can serve salads. You can also serve sauces for fresh vegetables or nachos.

Sushi is also popular today. Of course, you need to take care of the chopsticks. The rolls are served with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger in small bowls.

A good idea for a buffet table would be sesame seeds wrapped in bacon. They can be served on a flat dish or in tall glasses.

Buffet tableware

Organizing a buffet at work is a troublesome task. It may be worth opting for disposable tableware. Of course, it must be of good quality and all in the same style.

To avoid unpleasant situations, make sure that there are 2-3 times more dishes than there are guests. It is unlikely that there will be an opportunity to rinse plates after appetizers.

At the buffet table, desserts are served with special forks, which differ from ordinary dessert forks. These forks have 3 tines, one of which is thicker than the others and has a sharp edge. This device is convenient for cutting pieces. Table knives are not needed at a buffet table, since it is still impossible to use them while holding a plate in one hand and a fork in the other.

To save space on the table, special multi-tiered dishes were invented. This presentation looks elegant and festive.

We hope our simple tips will help you organize a wonderful holiday for your colleagues.

I don’t know how relationships develop in other work teams, but in ours there is idyll and mutual understanding. We consider each other family members, and we are used to celebrating various holidays with the whole company. Of course, right at the workplace. The birthday of each of us is a special occasion. Since it turns out that the team is creative, each birthday person, when setting the table, strives to surprise his beloved colleagues. Or, at least, leave them satisfied and full.

Birthday table at work

After walking through the city's supermarkets, I picked up approximate options and combinations of products that can be used to decorate your holiday work table. There are 30 people in our team, I think about the same number of people work in your teams. For so many colleagues, a table of snacks and sandwiches is suitable. I offer you several options for not very expensive menus to celebrate your birthday at work.

It is better to mix the styles of different cuisines of the world, since it is unlikely that you will be able to guess the gastronomic preferences of each of your colleagues. Bringing only pizza or a set of rolls will not be very polite. Strive for variety. The cost of ready-made snacks is based on 30 people.

It was these options for refreshments for the office table that seemed the most interesting to me, since they satisfy different tastes and wishes. If you are pressed for time, you can order delivery of pizza or the same rolls, or purchase cheese, meat and sausage slices in the store.

Those who are seriously interested in cooking can prepare their own dish. So, some of my colleagues brought homemade manti or homemade dolma to work. There was a lot of finished dish, and the birthday boy received a lot of compliments and rave reviews.

Some birthday people have been accustomed since childhood to treating their friends to sweets on holiday. You can do this even in adulthood. Sweet tartlets with jam or ice cream, small cakes, sweets, and cut fruits will look good as treats.

Cooks can prepare their own treats: bake pies, donuts with powdered sugar or cookies.

There aren’t many options here anymore, because hardly anyone will bring homemade homemade compote to work. As a rule, they buy tea bags for the table (the packaging is just enough), a couple of boxes of juice or lemonade. Not all groups drink alcohol. If you decide to go with just such a drink, check in advance if there are any unspoken rules in this regard. Perhaps in some offices they allow you to drink a glass during your lunch break or at the end of the working day; in some places the strictest prohibition law applies. Otherwise, by your action you will not only receive the disapproval of your colleagues, but also risk tarnishing your reputation in the eyes of your superiors.

By the way, about gifts: each team also has its own rules on this issue. Someone collects money and gives a thick envelope, somewhere they chip in for a general gift, somewhere everyone gives something special. If your team has special traditions, try to observe them, even if you don’t have an extra hundred in your wallet. Remember that on your birthday you will also receive special attention from your colleagues.
