Various options for making horses with your own hands, many ideas, as well as descriptions of the work. Textile horse Do-it-yourself soft toy fairy-tale horse

A DIY horse is not only a cute soft toy! The horse is the symbol of 2014! Let's make cute New Year's souvenirs together and get into the good graces of the hostess of the coming year)

Fabric horse

Everything you need to create this toy can probably be found in the bins of any needlewoman:

  • Cotton fabric (two colors) - base
  • Holofiber - filler
  • Color matching threads
  • Wool - for the tail and mane
  • Buttons - fastenings for legs
  • Beads - eyes
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Needles and pins
  • Fabric marker (chalk)

We print this pattern on paper and transfer all the elements except the ears (we will return to them later) onto fabric folded in half.

Please note that there is only one piece for the legs, but for convenience when cutting, you can make 4 identical patterns.

Before cutting, we sew all the details, first of all, the dart on the head.

After making a small allowance, we cut out all the details. Then we make small cuts along the allowance in the places where the curves are rounded.

We turn the parts inside out and start stuffing them with holofiber. You don’t need to make your horse too dense with your own hands, but don’t skimp on the filler either.

After this, we sew up all the holes with a hidden seam.

Using buttons we attach the horse's legs.

The next step is to give our toy a mane. Let's wind the prepared yarn onto a piece of some small cardboard.

Sew the mane along the seam on the horse's head.

For the tail, we repeat the algorithm with the mane, only this time you don’t need to cut anything. We make a kind of tassel and sew it on the back. The DIY horse is almost ready.

Now it’s the turn of the ears, which we forgot about for a while at the beginning. With them you need to do the same thing as with other parts of our horse’s body, only without folding the fabric in half, but by combining pieces of different colors.

After stitching the details, iron them and tuck the bottom edges of the ears inward.

Using the blind stitch technique we attach the ears.

IN final stage We make eyes for the toy and sew on beads.

We rejoice at the resulting masterpiece. Agree, sewing a horse with your own hands turned out to be quite easy!

Coffee rocking horse

Soft toy-a horse with your own hands can be made in the likeness of a wooden horse if you attach a rocking arc to its legs. You will get a wonderful rocking horse, familiar to us all from childhood. This toy is also interesting because it is tinted with coffee solution and painted acrylic paints.

To make such a horse, you need to print out the pattern, cut it out and transfer it to fabric (preferably cotton), cut and sew the parts, and stuff it with filler. Next, we reconnect the parts with each other and make the mane and tail.

To tint our toy, we use the simplest method.

Dilute one teaspoon of instant coffee in 50 ml of water. Apply the resulting solution to the toy using a brush. After the first layer has dried, apply the second. While the surface is still wet, we paint the horse with acrylic paints to create an interesting blur. We also paint the hooves and seams. Then we paint the spots: first with light brown paint, then with dark brown paint on top. We make the eyes in the same way. Using black paint we draw the eyelid, eyelashes and nostrils.

The most best toy and even a piece of interior decoration – a hand-made horse. This is an exclusive product in a single copy, the embodiment of individual creative ideas. It is impossible to make a similar toy, each of them has its own character and differences. You can play with it, give it as a gift, or use it to create an original interior. She will become a real and irreplaceable friend.

The article offers only a sample of such a toy, a master class on how to make it. Interesting option in a combination of two horses, but this is an individual decision, creativity does not recognize templates and limitations.

Materials:
1. Fabric, various textures and colors. Here is white cotton.
2. Yarn, wool threads for the tail.
3. Sintepon.
4. Finishing materials: ribbons, brooches, suede.

Manufacturing process:

To begin with, take a horse pattern, height – 15 cm, width – 11 cm. The figure shows the notches necessary to prevent the fabric from puffing up, and the place for the tail.

We cut out 2 pieces of fabric; to do this, fold it in half with the front side inward. Pin the pattern, mark a 1cm seam allowance and cut it out.
We put the threads for the tail together and stitch it in the middle to form a tail.
We fold the horse parts with the front side inward, pin the tail to one of them so that it is located inside, between the parts. Baste and stitch along the entire perimeter, except for the lower part of the legs. These areas must be open, through which the horse turns out and is stuffed with padding polyester.
We make notches in the designated places, not reaching the seam. Turn it right side out. The corners can be straightened with a needle or scissor blade, the main thing is that they are all sharp and without creases.

Let's start stuffing the toy. You can use long sticks to evenly distribute the padding in all parts of the horse. The main secret is that the toy must be tightly stuffed so that there is no sagging or looseness. Lumps should not be allowed to appear; the filler should be distributed evenly.
Let's start shaping the hooves, recommended fabrics: suede, leather, thick drape. Circles are cut to fit the bottom of the legs with a small allowance.
The parts are attached to the leg and sewn to the bottom according to the allowances of the hoof, figuratively speaking, the part envelops the bottom of the leg. In order for the horse to stand firmly on the surface, it is recommended to quilt the hooves. We connect the hoof tissue with stitches to the padding polyester inside the leg. The work requires patience and skill. All that remains is to cut strips from the same fabric. They will cover the stitching area of the leg and the allowances of the lower part, and will form the appearance of the hoof as a whole. It is advisable to use curly scissors; the parts will have a neat appearance.

Let's start decorating the horse. If the horse is made of fabric with a pattern, then you can skip this point. In this case, it is decorated with embroidery. To do this, figures are cut out of thick fabric to suit every taste: flowers, hearts, apples. They are then sewn to the horse's body using a blanket stitch. We pass over the parts with embroidery threads or ordinary sewing threads. The figures are completely filled with stitches, resulting in the effect of volumetric embroidery.
To complete the look of a cute horse friend, tie a ribbon decorated with a brooch around her neck. There are no limits to imagination here; you can decorate with flowers, bows, and beads.

Flirty horse friend is ready for adventure!

The holidays are approaching every day and although it seems that they are still far away, you can start creating for yourself Christmas mood right now. This weekend I really wanted to sew something. I found suitable socks and I decided to make a toy out of them. And since the symbol of the coming year is a horse, it seemed to me that DIY horse- an excellent option.

It didn’t suit me to make just a toy for the Christmas tree, or a decoration for a New Year’s composition, so the horse I created is not carrying gifts, but a very valuable cargo - the smell of New Year’s celebrations. You may ask how this is possible, I will tell you a secret, this is not just a soft toy - it is an aromatic sachet with the smell of tangerines, because it is this smell that I associate with the New Year holidays.

DIY horse toy

To make a horse with a sachet you will need:

  • socks,
  • scissors,
  • eyes,
  • needle and thread,
  • yarn for hand knitting,
  • fabric glue (PVA, superglue),
  • coarse sea salt,
  • essential oil tangerine,
  • felt,
  • filler (sintepon),
  • pastel.

Step #1. Take a sock and cut off the top of it, about one third of the sock, as shown in the photo. Set this part aside; later you will make a horse’s head from it.

Step #2. Take the rest of the sock and make a cut in the middle to the heel on one side (back legs) and approximately the same cut on the other side (front legs), rounding the ends of the strips.

Step #3. Using a hidden seam, connect the parts of the horse's legs.

Step #4. Using a wooden sushi stick, stuff the front legs of the toy.

Step #5. In the same way, fill the horse's body and hind legs with padding polyester.

Step #6. Stuff the head of the toy with padding polyester.

Step #7. Sew up the head with a blind stitch, cutting off excess fabric.

Step #8. This is the shape of the head.

Step #9. To create the mane, I stitched a chain stitch in the right place.

Step #10. Tie to the head wool threads forming the horse's bangs and mane. Trim off excess fur.

Step No. 11. Wrap several turns of yarn onto a piece of cardboard of the required width, or in my case, onto the hand of a beloved child.

Step #12. Remove the threads and tie them as shown in the photo. Cut the ring of threads.

Step #13. Sew the resulting tuft of wool to the place where the horse should have a tail.

Step #14. Cut out ovals for the eyes from felt and glue hemispheres or circles of black felt to them with superglue. To glue the eyes to the horse's face, I used PVA glue.

Step #15. Cut out two triangles from felt and fold them into ears as shown in the photo. Glue or sew the ears to the toy's face.

Step #16. To tint some areas of the face, for example near the eyes or inside the ears, use dry pastel, see step No. 14. This is the face my horse got.

Step #17. After all the details of the horse are ready, sew the entire toy, attaching the head to the body.

Step #18. For further decoration I needed red felt; I didn’t have it on hand and had to quickly felt it.

Step #19. Cut out two rectangles from red felt - these will be bags with fragrances.

Step #20. Cut out a “tangerine” from orange felt and stick it on any thin material that allows odors to pass through well. In my case it's chiffon.

Step No. 21. Trim the corners of your sachet bags and cut out a circle slightly smaller than a tangerine. Glue this element onto your handbag and the tangerine will let in the aromas of our sachet.

Step #22. Sew a red cap from the leftover felt and decorate it with a trim and a pompom made of white yarn. Sew handbags.

Step No. 23. Since our horse’s bags are very small, we will not use bulky natural materials as a fragrance. We use sea salt and essential tangerine oil (for 1 teaspoon of salt, 1-2 drops of oil, mix thoroughly, let the oil soak into the salt so as not to stain the sachet). You can also use fragrance to create soap, it does not have such beneficial properties like natural essential oil, but has a persistent odor and perfectly refreshes the air in the room.

Step #24. Well, everything is ready, hang your fragrant bags on the finished ones, and create yourself a New Year's mood.
While I was putting the fragrant salt in a sachet, a poem suddenly surfaced from somewhere in my childhood:
A man eats tangerines, and he throws the skins into the snow... and under the spruce vault it suddenly smells like NEW YEAR!
Unfortunately, I don’t remember the author of this masterpiece. . .

Decorate your home with inspiration and celebrate the holidays with pleasure!
