DIY New Year's rooster costumes for adults. DIY cockerel costume for a boy – colorful template

There is still more than a month left, but preparations have already begun. Usually, before the holiday itself, festive events are held in kindergartens and schools, children show their talents, dance and sing, and participate in the New Year's performance. And parents are anxiously awaiting the distribution of roles. After all, everyone wants to see their child as the leading actor, and teachers note his acting talent and courage on stage.

However, with the role and the words that the young artist needs to learn, he is tasked with coming up with something with a costume. Some kindergartens and schools have their own fancy costumes for productions, but most can only offer a mask of the chosen character. Sometimes this is enough, but any child wants to look the most beautiful at the holiday, so that he is recognized immediately, not only by his mask. And creating a costume at home is not at all difficult. Even if the child has to play the main character of the New Year - the bright and active Rooster.

Cooking process

So, the task has been set. You need to build, get somewhere or purchase a Rooster costume. Of course, it’s easier to look at it in a store, but the choice at retail outlets is small, and they sell out quickly, especially since you can make a mistake with the size. Typically, such suits are delivered in batches only for special orders. It's rare to find a whole range of sizes. It’s easier and cheaper to make a rooster costume for a boy with your own hands. Often ready-made items cost a decent amount, but if you wear a suit for one time, is it worth spending the money?

So, it's decided. If you are a needlewoman and are comfortable with a sewing machine, then it will not be difficult for you to sew beautiful suit. However, even beginners won’t bother for long. What is the manufacturing process?

A sketch of the future model - what does it actually consist of? The body, a head decorated with a bright crest, wings with bright feathers, a fluffy tail and legs. Of course, the image is not easy, and there is a lot of work to be done. Each piece must fit and hold tightly, so you need to think carefully about everything.

Choice of material - anyone who has ever seen a live rooster will remember the bright colors, defiant behavior. Roosters loudly announce themselves with all their appearance. They have bushy tails, red crests on their heads, firm gait and proud posture. The rooster is the real king of his chicken coop. Its colors are yellow, shades of blue, green, maybe orange and, of course, red. After all, the year of the Fire Rooster is coming. Therefore, we select fabric or paper to match these shades. Nylon would be an excellent option. It is easy to cut and comes in different colors. For a do-it-yourself rooster costume for a boy, you can cut out parts for wings and a hood from paper or nylon. Multi-colored ribbons are good for the tail, because you want them to flutter beautifully.

Costume options

The basis of the future suit can be a ready-made T-shirt or T-shirt with trousers or shorts. You need to select things so that the colors match the colors of the rooster or choose plain ones to then embroider with pieces of fabric or paint. DIY rooster costume for a boy, photo, the top is then white or regular yellow, maybe orange, and the bottom is dark. Brown or blue. Can choose Alternative option: sew a jumpsuit from fabric with a hood, to which you already attach a comb. Then the problem of the cap will be solved, the main thing is that it holds well and does not fall when moving. Sew other details to it too - the tail at the back, and the “wings” to the shirt. Therefore, a shirt or turtleneck is more convenient. Even a shirt is better, it “breathes”, the child will not sweat as much later.

Important: the details must be harmoniously combined with the base, creating a single ensemble of the costume.

What you will need:

Turtleneck or shirt, most importantly long sleeves. Color – orange, yellow or light green.
scraps of the desired fabric colors;
padding polyester;
several buttons;
ordinary rubber gloves;
sewing scissors.

Procedure:

First you need to make the shirt front of the future suit according to the pattern. Measure the length yourself, depending on the height of your child. The main thing is that the length of the shirtfront should reach below the chest. Next, transfer it to the fabric, then trace it, then cut it out. For beauty, the edges can be trimmed like teeth to imitate feathers. Next, cut out other drop-shaped parts from the flaps. Sew so that the next row overlaps the previous one slightly.

The sleeves of a turtleneck or shirt should be wrapped into wings. First, from a thick piece of fabric, first cut out the cuffs, all with teeth, to resemble wings. Decorate one edge with a loop, the other with a button. Instead of fabric, colored cardboard will do.

DIY rooster bone for a boy; patterns for the bottom are not required; you can use an existing base of trousers or shorts. If you want to make them fluffy panties, trim the edges and sew teeth to the edges. For a cool room, you can wear regular tights in a white, nude or ocher shade under your panties. On your feet, wear simple slippers or sandals, the main thing is to match the colors.

The main thing is a bright comb. Take fabric without patterns, red, first cut out two parts of the same shape. Either wavy at the edges or jagged. Sew together and then fill with plain cotton wool or prepared padding polyester to keep their shape. Then carefully sew the finished comb to the cap or hat to hold it in place. You can attach it with a glue gun for reliability.

For the tail, take the remaining long flaps, cut two identical parts from each to connect them. Each “feather” must be made with a padding polyester base; for this, during stitching, leave a small space, which after stuffing, sew it up. You need to place a long feather in the center, then there will be short feathers along the edges. Don’t be too zealous with padding polyester; you need to make the “feathers” voluminous, but soft enough so that they lie freely, but do not stand up.

One of the most traditional heroes of various fairy tales is the rooster. His image - multi-colored, colorful and bright - stands out from others, so if your child has such a role at a matinee or carnival, then you need to seriously approach the preparation of the appropriate costume.

However, this does not mean that you need to go shopping and buy or rent an expensive outfit, because you can sew it yourself.

Preparatory stage

Are you ready to feel like a real fashion designer? Don’t be alarmed – you won’t have to do anything too complicated, just rely on your imagination and creative ideas.

The image of a cockerel can be made quite simply (this will be especially true for very young children who have no need for believable costumes): dress the child in a yellow or white T-shirt and red pants with suspenders, plus - use only characteristic elements, for example, sew on a comb and beak to a cap, add a bright collar or cuffs to a blouse, decorate the legs or sleeves with sparkles, etc.

If you need to sew a carnival costume for an older boy with your own hands, then you will need a pattern, fabric of different colors, and all kinds of fittings or accessories.

Let's start working on the image

  1. Start with your headdress. This can be a separate hat with a comb (it can be made according to patterns - cut and sew two halves, and then sew the gathered comb on top). The comb can also be voluminous - two parts need to be cut out of red fabric, sewn together and filled with foam rubber. Such a comb can be sewn onto either a bandana or a simple children’s hat with strings. If you don't have time to mess around, use carnival mask cockerel
  2. There is a slightly more complicated option - to make a solid upper part of the costume, that is, sew the hood to the cape, which will represent the wings of a cockerel, and sew a comb into the inner seam of the hood, plus add eyes and a beak. For the eyes, cut an oval out of white fabric, and sew a small circle of black fabric onto it. You can add a bead or shiny threads. The beak can be sewn from fabric (sew a red triangle filled with filler in the center) or made from paper (paint the cardboard with gouache with the addition of PVA glue and cover it with yellow or red fabric) or papier-mâché. Sew red beards on the sides of the headdress (you can also stuff them with padding polyester or leave them flat).
  3. It is best to sew a shirt using the bat principle. You can use a regular blouse, just decorate it with a multi-colored collar or shirtfront, add puffy cuffs to the sleeves, and add teeth to them like feathers. And if you tie a large, voluminous bow around your neck (it’s better to use shiny fabric), you’ll get a real cockerel beard. You can attach a shirtfront with feathers to a turtleneck or T-shirt (only with long sleeves) - it will act as a chest. To do this, you need to cut out an oval from the fabric, and make teeth along its edge (they will also imitate feathers), and then sew on a lot of multi-colored patches (cut them in the shape of droplets). From a large semicircle, you can make a chic cape in the same way by sewing it to a blouse on your arms (also embroidered with shreds of feathers. By the way, just such a cape can be one-piece with a hood - a headdress). If you don’t want a cape, cut out feathers from a template. fabrics of different colors and sew them in a checkerboard pattern, starting from the shoulder. Sew a lot of feathers in several rows to give the costume brightness and diversity.
  4. The bottom can be bloomers, trousers or even shorts. It's good if the trousers are slightly below the knee. Decorate the bottom with cloves or sew the same feathers as on your arms to make the carnival costume look harmonious. As feathers for the top and bottom, you can use many multi-colored ruffle flounces from scraps artificial silk or satin ribbons.
  5. If your child wears Czech shoes or sandals, then choose colorful, bright knee socks for him (either plain ones - yellow, white, or multi-colored or striped). You can make almost real boots with your own hands. To do this, simply make paper tops with cuffs and buckles for your shoes, then paint them, cover the buckles with foil and place them on tape. You can imitate paws by sewing soft chuni with three toes on the foot.
  6. For an adult carnival costume you can add other interesting details, like a vest or a sash made of red satin with tassels. Interesting idea For adults, creating the image of the famous rooster from “The Bremen Town Musicians” will also be an option.
  7. The most important part of your work is the tail. Be sure to take into account the convenience and comfort of the child so that he can move normally in the suit, sit, dance, without fear of breaking or ruining something. Therefore, a wire frame is not suitable for everyone. Try the "soft" version. Cut out many feather blanks, glue them on the wrong side with non-woven fabric and apply padding polyester. Sew the details. Divide the tail feathers in half. Taking the longest feather, put another, shorter one on top of it, and stitch, on top of both of them - another one, until you reach the smallest one. Do the same with the other half of the feathers. Then connect the two parts by stitching the two longest feathers and sewing two Japanese sticks into each of them at the junction (this will make the tail more rigid and stable). Make a belt out of Velcro and sew the tail in the middle.

On the eve of the New Year holidays, all parents are racking their brains about where to get their child a carnival costume and mask. And it’s completely in vain, because all this can be easily done with your own hands at home, saving money and time on searching. At least you won’t have any problems with the mask.

The main thing is to decide on the image. For example, the image of a cockerel will certainly suit the setting of any fairy tale, and besides, the brightness and beauty of such a character will appeal to both the child and everyone else.

Where to begin?

First, decide what the future mask should look like. Take into account the age of the child, since he should be comfortable and comfortable in this accessory, the general style of the image, how well the headdress will harmonize with the suit and appearance generally.

The role of the character also matters. If you just need to come to a matinee, then the mask can be quite simple and only emphasize the image, like a detail. But if your child plays one of the main roles in a school or kindergarten play, participates in a costume competition, or performs any other important task, then you should put extra effort into creating a mask.

There are several types of masks that you can make with your own hands:

  • an ordinary mask made of paper with slits for the eyes - put on the face, secured with an elastic band;
  • a half mask that covers most of the face (usually up to the lips), can also be made of paper or cardboard and attached to an elastic band, ribbon or ribbons (such a mask can also be held on a stick, applied to the face);
  • a paper headband - it’s easy to attach an image or the head of a cockerel to it (for very little ones) or glue three-dimensional details - beak, eyes, beard and comb;
  • in the same way, you can make masks from fabric with your own hands - choose either the simplest first option with transferring the template from paper to fabric, or try to sew a full-fledged cockerel headdress with patterns, fillings and decor (it’s best to do this from a cap);
  • the most labor-intensive and complex options are masks made of papier-mâché and clay, however, you can make them yourself if you wish.

Variations of paper cockerel masks

  • Take the template you like with the image of a rooster, print it, cut it out and glue it to cardboard (if you don’t have a color printer and the image is black and white, it’s not scary, because you can color it with your child). Don't forget about the holes for the eyes and for fastening. Thread a rubber band through the last ones. If possible, you can laminate the mask, and also decorate it at your own discretion: cover it with beads or sequins, add glitter, mother-of-pearl, gilding (there are special gels or shiny pencils), etc.

  • Now try to make a mask on the headband out of paper with your own hands. To do this, you need to measure the circumference of the child’s head and make such a “ring cap.” Cut and glue a wide strip of paper, then stick another one in a semicircle on top of the resulting rim. Make a beak from a square piece of paper - fold it in half so that a triangle emerges, bend its edges and smooth the fold lines well with your fingers. Unfold the square back and make a cut along the shortest fold line. This way you will get a beak, which will need to be glued to the center of the wide rim. Glue eyes on the sides - black ovals with white semicircles. Then cut out a shaped comb, fold its edges and glue it to the top strip of the rim with the fold. When everything is dry, the cockerel mask will need to be painted and decorated as desired.

  • You can do more on the rim complex mask. For this you will need a pattern. After cutting out all the parts, start connecting them. The darts on the forehead must be sealed, and the beak must be glued into the opening of the nose. To prevent the comb from falling over and to be positioned in an arc, connect it from several segments and glue it to the top of the mask with an overlap. Then glue on the goatee, just try it on first and make sure you place it correctly so that it doesn’t interfere with conversation. You can either immediately cut it out of colored paper/cardboard, or then paint the mask.

Making a mask from fabric and other materials

  • After drawing a mask on paper or taking a template, transfer it to fabric. To do this, you can choose felt or other soft but dense fabric. Cut out the blank, making slits for the eyes. Attach ribbons or ribbons to it. You can sew small details on top - a beard, a comb, a beak.

  • Take the base cap and sew all the elements of the rooster image onto it (take measurements from the person who will wear the mask). This can be done from simple fabric and padded with some kind of filler (then the comb, beard, and beak will be voluminous), or you can sew a headdress from foam sheets (you can use “Crystal” glue for joining). Cut the material according to the pattern and gradually attach all the parts to the base.

  • Another unusual option‒ mask made of disposable plates. It's very simple to do - take a plate and cut it in half. Paint it orange or yellow. Make slits for the eyes and cover them with brown or black colored paper (you can outline them with a marker or a glitter pencil). Then glue feathers all over the semicircle on top of the plate, and attach a paper yellow or red beak in the center. You will need to glue a wooden stick on the back side so that the mask can be held in your hand.

With such a variety of ideas, you can easily and quickly make a bright and unusual carnival cockerel mask for a fun holiday.

Almost all parents have encountered the problem when a child in a kindergarten or school gets a role in a play, but there is no appropriate costume. You have to either buy it or make it yourself. If a boy gets the role of a beautiful and bright rooster in a play, he can make it himself festive outfit. Making a rooster costume with your own hands is much easier than it seems. To do this, you need to remember what is remarkable about him: he has wide pants made of feathers on his legs, a lush tail adorns his back, motley feathers on his neck, and the head of a rooster is decorated with a crest. With a little effort, the suit will... New Year's holiday It will come out memorable and beautiful.

Materials

For the costume you will need:

  • Turtleneck in orange, green or yellow;
  • Children's hat;
  • colored pieces of fabric;
  • buttons;
  • latex gloves;
  • laces;
  • cotton wool or synthetic winterizer;
  • cardboard;
  • scissors.

Working on the costume

First of all, we start sewing a shirtfront, for which we need a pattern. If a pattern is used from the Internet, its dimensions will vary depending on the child’s height. The shirt front should be slightly below the chest, so the length is determined individually. Using the pattern, transfer the details to the fabric and cut out.

The costume will be more interesting if the bottom of the shirtfront is cut into teeth so that they resemble the feathers of a rooster. Cut colored pieces of fabric in the shape of drops, then sew in several rows. Each top row should slightly overlap the bottom row.

To make the turtleneck sleeves look like rooster wings, decorate them with cuffs. We cut out the bottom of the cuff with teeth, just as we cut out the shirt front. In order not to sew them to the turtleneck, a loop is attached to one edge and a button to the other. This allows you to remove and put on the cuffs and use them for other outfits. We are making a rooster costume with our own hands from available materials, so instead of fabric you can use colored cardboard. Cut out the cuffs from cardboard as you would cut them from fabric.

Surely the child will have unnecessary trousers from which he can make fluffy rooster trousers. The trousers should be cut so that they are slightly below the knee, and the hem should be decorated with teeth. If there are teardrop-shaped scraps of fabric left that were cut out for the shirtfront, then they are suitable for decorating pants. To keep your child warm, you can wear yellow, beige or beige tights under your trousers. white, and put on sandals, shoes or slippers.

The New Year's rooster costume will look more interesting if the shoes are made from rubber gloves. Fill the spaces for the fingers in gloves with cotton wool or padding polyester, leaving free space for the feet. The back of the gloves needs to be glued together and a cut made at the top so that they can be put on and laced.

The main detail of the rooster costume is the comb. In order to make it you need red fabric. Trace the outline of the comb onto the fabric and cut out two pieces. They can be wavy or jagged. Sew the two halves and fill with padding polyester, then attach the comb to a child's hat or hood. If there is no padding polyester, you can use cotton wool or cover cardboard with fabric in the shape of a scallop.

Design features

In the design of a New Year's costume, a rooster will be appropriate various decorations. In addition to the scallop, the cap may have a beak, beard and eyes. The material used is cardboard and thick fabric. Eyes can be drawn or made from buttons.

To sew a bright rooster tail, you will need scraps of fabric of different colors. We cut out a pair of identical parts from the scraps; in the future these will be “feathers”. One pair of parts should be larger than the others. Sew the halves together, leaving a gap of a few centimeters, then fill the parts with cotton wool or padding polyester. Attach the largest “feather” to the belt, then place all the others around it.

There are many ways to make a rooster costume for a boy with your own hands. The proposed version of the costume can be changed, supplemented and improved without limiting imagination. Use different fabrics, experiment with colors and decorations, hats and other details to make the costume original and memorable. Now matinees, performances and searching for a costume will not be a problem, and the child will have an unforgettable holiday experience!

Traditionally, the New Year is accompanied by matinees in children's institutions, costume balls, youth parties and corporate events. 2017 will bring a bright, colorful character into the arena of these events - the Red Rooster.

Symbol of the coming year main character many fairy tales, the colorful rooster will become popular actor among the others dancing round dances around the New Year tree. To emphasize this impression, it is necessary to create spectacular image. If you want to give such pleasure to your child or yourself, it is not at all necessary to waste time going to stores or rental shops in search of a carnival costume. You can sew it yourself using effective recommendations.

Assortment of materials for a suit

Considering such an important nuance as the color scheme of the rooster’s plumage, it is advisable to choose textured colorful fabrics for tailoring a suit. Depending on the age category for which the suit is made, the best fabric options will be: satin, silk, supplex, felt, fleece.

The following elements are perfect for decorating the Rooster costume:

  • multi-colored silk ribbons,
  • lush rain of red, yellow, green and purple shades,
  • wide red leather or suede belt,
  • striped knee socks.

Components of a New Year's rooster costume

The main part of the costume can rightly be considered the headdress. Often it alone is enough to create the image of the Rooster. For such a headdress, you can use a ready-made hat or bandana of the appropriate shade, or you can sew it yourself according to the measurements taken from two cut halves.

An important detail of this headdress is, of course, the comb. It must be sewn from red fabric, mostly shiny. In order to make it voluminous, the comb, sewn from two symmetrical parts, is filled with padding polyester or foam rubber, and then attached to the top of the cap.

Quite often, the headdress is supplemented with elements such as the beak and eyes of a rooster. It is recommended to make the beak in a similar way to a comb. The eyes can be made of felt, sewn to the headdress with an applique stitch, or you can use plastic eyes, placing them on the fabric using silicone glue.

If you wish, you can not waste time on sewing a headdress, but limit yourself to making a mask for which the best option materials, such as felt, will become dense and resistant to deformation.

For making shirts, it is advisable to use the model “ bat" It can be smaller in size and serve as a shirtfront, worn over a white or other plain shirt or golf. To fasten this model, it is recommended to use a bright lace or ribbon tied at the front of the neck or a large button.

Feathers cut from multi-colored felt are sewn across the entire surface of a shirt or shirtfront from bottom to top in a checkerboard pattern, thereby imitating the chest and sweeping wings of a rooster.

As the bottom part of the suit, you can use ready-made breeches, shorts or bloomers in the same color as the main material of the shirt or shirt-front. An obligatory nuance is the length. The selected model should be above or just below the knee. To create the effect of rooster thighs, you can decorate shorts or breeches with plain or multi-colored lush flounces or ruffles made of satin or silk.

An original design would be a wide red belt or a silk sash, which can emphasize the effectiveness of the costume.

A special role is played by the rooster's tail, the production of which requires a lot of time and effort. Before working on its cut, think about how comfortable it will be for a child to sit behind the suit in a suit with such a design. festive table or move in a team. Considering this very important nuance, it is necessary to abandon the creation of a rigid structure or wire frame.

The most successful tail model would be to create this component of the costume from disparate fabric elements that imitate long multi-colored feathers. Blanks cut from satin or silk different lengths It is best to glue it with non-woven material or line it with thin padding polyester, and then stitch it.

You can connect finished feathers in different ways:

  • Fabric feathers are laid out one above the other from bottom to top from the shortest to the longest, after which they are connected with a seam and attached to the bottom of the costume. A tail created in this way will best adhere to shorts or breeches if it is sewn into the back seam connecting the legs.
  • Finished fabric feathers are laid out wide. The center of such a tail will be the longest feather. At the bottom of the laid structure, you can sew a ribbon, the free ends of which will serve as ties.

All that remains is the matter of shoes. If a child or teenager needs Czech shoes for the New Year's party, it is preferable to purchase them in red. The same goes for other types of shoes.

Imitations of rooster paws will be effective, which can be reproduced as follows:

  • sew three-finger soft chuni;
  • Cut the foot out of felt and secure it around the foot with tape or Velcro.

Costume "Rooster" for a schoolchild

For children of middle age, you can sew costumes from silk, satin or synthetic materials.

Often, parents of such children limit themselves to imitation individual elements suit, using a monochromatic, mostly white shirt or golf and shorts or yellow breeches, dressed with tights or striped knee socks.

In such cases, a headdress and a tail, which are made from multi-colored scraps of the same material as shorts, remain mandatory.

DIY youth New Year's rooster costume

Teenagers and young adults can work on their own to create a shocking costume for a party.

Excellent material options for such a product would be: knitwear, faux velvet, fleece, faux fur.

The most common models are suit-overalls and combinations of a jacket with a hood and trousers with cuffs imitating plumage and spurs. A suit with short legs requires the use of striped knee socks. A spectacular finish to the bottom will be voluminous, soft paw slippers filled with synthetic padding.

The rooster's plumage at the top of the costume can be made in the form of a cape in red or another color that contrasts with the shade of the main material. In addition to this option, it is possible to manufacture rigid wing structures that can be attached to the arms at the elbows and wrists using plastic fasteners or ties.

To depict the head of the symbol of 2017, representatives of the younger generation will prefer to use not a funny children's cap, but a creative voluminous mask that can be worn, completely covering the face, or over the hood of a suit jacket. To make such a mask, it is best to use the papier-mâché technique or thick felt and silicone glue.
