Millions of people know these charming Texans thanks to the TV series Supernatural as brothers Dean and Sam Winchester. Before Jared and Jensen began starring in the popular series, they did not know each other, but during the time spent together on the set, they became even closer to each other than the Winchester brothers: the actors are not just colleagues, but also the best Friends. Before each of them got a wife (and they did it almost simultaneously), they lived together!

Jensen: Nine out of twelve months of the year we were constantly together, 24 hours, seven days a week, almost every minute! And even when we weren't busy with work, it turned out that we were constantly hanging out together.

Jared: We even lived together!

Jensen: Yes, we lived.

Jared: And we were at each other's weddings!

Jensen: Were.

Jared: And when we left Canada during the holidays, we would join our families to celebrate Christmas in Texas together!

Jensen: This is true. But I always say that if you compare our relationship in life to the relationship between Dean and Sam on screen, the difference is huge. Jared never makes me angry.

Jared: I wouldn't say never.

Jensen: No, well, of course, you make me mad. We can say and do whatever we want to each other, but I think this is very common for guys our age, and besides, we never take each other's antics seriously.

Jared: Yes. And if we fight, then it’s the initiative of both of us!

Ackles and Padalecki seem like the perfect friends, with some even ranking them as the most amazing celebrity friends ever. They are not shy about hugging in public... In fact, they really hug a lot!

And in some photos they are wearing the same T-shirt - and who can guess whether they are just two identical T-shirts or whether they really have one for both of them?

“When I met Jared, we became friends almost immediately. He's five years younger than me, but that's cool. I know what it's like to be an older brother, and he knows what it's like to be a younger brother—our rhythms matched, so to speak. He’s like a brother to me and I love him,” Jensen admitted in an interview.

The actors are united by an incredible sense of humor - it’s not for nothing that they became heroes of popular Internet memes. In one of the interviews they were asked the question: what are the most positive traits in your friend? To which the actors responded:

Jared: Nice ass!

Jensen: Amazing smile and laugh!

IN Lately Questions from concerned fans began to appear on the forums. It began to seem that within the framework of the show, the heroes of Jared and Jensen are fighting various evil spirits, from demons to werewolves and even angels, but in real life the actors had to face something more daunting - fatherhood.

Ackles and his wife Danneel Harris welcomed their daughter this summer, while the Padaleckis are expecting their second addition to the family. Perhaps it was because of this that the friends began to communicate with each other less often, but this does not mean that Jensen and Jared moved away from each other.

“It's great that we're two guys from Texas and our roles on the show are very similar. I don't feel like we have any rivalry. I think he's my biggest supporter, and I know I'm his biggest supporter too,” Jared says.

“We are best friends now. But, actually, he is my best friend for life. I don't think it's that big of a deal, but it's really special anyway,” Jensen admitted.

Chapter 1

Jared did not lose hope that the chance would present itself. And I was not mistaken. There is justice in the world! He can’t endure the damned Eccles’ bullying forever.
They were already filming the 7th episode of the first season, and they, two “acrobat brothers,” were still in a state of cold war, which sometimes, however, turned into real ones fighting. A war that began almost from the moment we met. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki don't like each other, what can you do? And if Jared “didn’t love” quietly, to himself, then damn Ackles tried in every possible way to hurt and humiliate his partner on the set. He laughed at the mistakes in the dialogues, criticized the performance of the role, and even the phrase “how did you just get through the casting, big guy?” Jared has heard it countless times. Jared even sometimes thought about breaking the contract, and only pride and the desire to put this bastard “big brother” in his place kept him from making harsh and final decisions. Outside of filming, Jared and Jensen did not communicate. What kind of communication is there when you want to punch your film partner in the face?
During the filming of the episode "Hook Man", it was not Dean who made fun of Sam, but Jensen who made fun of Jared. Therefore, from the outside, both the older brother’s jokes and the younger brother’s indignation looked very convincing. What was the cost of the scene with painting the student’s back, where Jensen even gave a gag in the form of “just below the back is not yet finished.” The director liked it and left the phrase. Jared could only shoot his eyes at Ackles and grit his teeth so as not to say too much. In the scene where the brothers climb to the second floor of the dorm, Jensen told Jared that such a hulking giant as Padalecki would never climb up, the stuntmen would have to play it out. As a result, by the end of filming the episode, Jared was angry as a thousand devils and obsessed with revenge on his “beloved brother.”
To make the situation even worse, Jared recently began to notice that damn Ackles has fluffy eyelashes, plump lips and freckles. Such observation began to interfere with Jared's already difficult work with Ackles. Instead of clearly following the script, Jared was distracted by looking at Jensen’s lips and earned even more snide remarks and chuckles from him.
And then one evening Jared walked to his trailer. As Jared walked past Jensen's mobile home, he heard a woman's laughter. Interesting. He stopped when he heard the door open. Not knowing what he was doing, Jared took out his phone and turned on the camera. The door swung open, and Jensen and a new assistant appeared in the illuminated doorway. They cuddled for a bit, laughing and whispering something in each other's ears. Then Jensen hit the girl on the butt. She squealed quietly and began to carefully climb down. “Bye, my sweetie! See you tomorrow,” the hero-lover shouted and closed the door.
A girl's figure flashed past Jared, standing near the trailer, and disappeared into the darkness. Jared watched the footage, chuckled, and turned off the camera. Well, a jelly truck overturned on his street. It is unlikely that Ackles will want his precious Dannielle to see this video.
The next morning, Jared plopped down in a chair next to Jensen in a great mood. Cameramen, set designers and installers were spinning and running around, preparing the set for the “Beetles” episode.
“Obliged to what? “- Jensen asked gloomily, without looking at Jared, “do you want to please me with the news that you finally came to your senses and realized that your calling is to deliver pizza?” Jared chuckled, “Don’t be rude, partner. I really wanted to make you happy and show you an interesting movie with your participation. You came out damn attractive. I think your fiancee will also appreciate it and be happy for you.”
Jensen turned to Jared, looking at him dumbfounded: “Did you have too much to drink yesterday, Padalecki? What are you hanging?".
Jared silently took out his cell phone, turned on the recording and, holding the phone in his palm, extended his hand to Jensen: “Look.”
After a minute, Jensen pulled away with an impassive face: “So what next?” Jared, feeling like the ruler of the universe, broke into a malicious smile: “You don’t want your beloved to see this? At the same time, I can put it on the Internet. Fans will be delighted - the star of the series “Supernatural” sleeps with everyone on the set. And I can’t even describe how happy Eric will be. Your ratings will jump several points!”
Jensen looked at him with a scathing look: “I knew you were an asshole, Padalecki. But you exceeded all my expectations."
Jared choked on air: “Am I an asshole? Well, you...yes, you...made fun of me...". He couldn't find words to express his outrage! “And this bastard dares to claim that I am a bastard! Well, just wait, I’ll make you cry some more,” Jared thought angrily. And he said to Jensen through clenched teeth: “In short. Come to my trailer today after filming. I’ll think about what to do with you.” Jensen pursed his lips in disdain and turned away.
They were unable to film that day. When the same scene was filmed 6 times, the director burst into abuse and sent the “unfinished actors” to rest: “You look on the screen like your worst enemies! You are fucking brothers! So play kindred feelings! Rest until tomorrow."
Later, Jared lounged on the couch in his trailer, waiting for his “brother.” He appeared, opening the door without knocking and stood in front of the sitting Jared: “Let’s lay out how much you want for this video.” Jared smiled and shook his head: “It won’t work, Ackles. I don't need money, I have it. I want you too to feel what it’s like to be humiliated.”
Jensen laughed, “Poor little Jared, are you being bullied by a bad guy? You can’t even make a more or less witty remark in response!”
Jared clenched his fists and simply turned white with anger: “Oh, you rubbish! Well...now you will get it! Listen to me. If you don’t want the whole world to see you hooking up with a girl of unknown origin, you now...” Jared paused and looked around. To invent? Maybe make him clean the trailer? No, it's too small. Yes, and stupid. We must not sell ourselves short here.
Jared looked at Jensen, who was grinning, and let his gaze linger on his plump, pink lips. A completely crazy thought flashed through my mind. At first, Jared drove her away with horror, but then... Not believing that he was actually saying this out loud, Jared suddenly said in a hoarse voice: “I want you to kiss me, with all the tenderness that you are capable of. And so that I can feel it. And the record is yours. If not, I’ll put it into circulation.”
The rage and bewilderment reflected on the “brother’s” face brought unearthly bliss. “Surely, the heavens were clearly on my side when I found myself outside that bastard's trailer that day! - Jared thought, “I hope I didn’t go too far?”
Jensen looked at him dumbfounded, “Are you crazy? What kiss? I'm not gay! Jared snapped: “Yes or no. There is no third".
Jensen sat down next to him: “What an asshole you are, Padalecki! You flawed giant piece of idiot! And a fagot, too...” “Shut up and get on with it, bro,” Jared grinned wickedly.
Jensen sighed and moved closer to the blackmailer's face. Jared suddenly felt his heart pounding faster and his palms suddenly sweating.
And then all that was left was the feeling. Soft lips. Warm breath. The smell of coffee and mint gum. An eternity later, Jared opened his eyes, unable to breathe. Jensen looked at him dumbfounded, licking his lips and breathing heavily. Trying to control his racing heart, Jared slowly pulled out his phone and handed it to Jensen. He clicked the buttons, then stood up and threw the phone on the sofa. “Pervert,” Jensen muttered as he walked away. But Jared could have sworn he was smiling.
The next day, the entire film crew waited in horror for filming the scene where the brothers go to a small party with their “future neighbors” and are mistaken for a gay couple. Everyone with bated breath expected Ackles and Padalecki to fight, quarrel and something like that. But to my surprise film crew Jared and Jensen got into character so much that Jensen even gave an impromptu slap on the ass." younger brother” and the words “okay, baby?”
After filming, Jensen approached Jared and, smiling slyly, said: “You know, man, I recorded something on my phone. Well, those words of yours when you offered me to kiss you. Jensen: I think it’s also just the common love we share for the show. We really look out for each other when we’re working with guest directors or whatnot. And I think that it’s just that we truly want this to be a great program. So when we’re working, if I see something that he’s doing or he sees something that I’m doing, there’s this, you know, very open relationship. We’re able to talk to each other & be like, “Hey, let’s do this. Let's lock this down. Let's get this going. I think we’re missing a beat here.” So it’s really neat to have that relationship with your co-star.

Jensen: I think it also has to do with our common love for the series. We help each other when, for example, we work with guest directors or someone else. This is because we sincerely want to make it a great show. And when we’re working, if we notice that something isn’t working out well, we can always say: “Listen, let’s do it like this. Let's remove this and add it here. But here we are missing something.” When a relationship with a filming partner works out like this, it’s a great success.

Jared Padalecki: I think the reason Jensen and I got along so well was because we didn’t really go about bonding… It didn’t feel like a blind date. It felt like we were continuing a relationship as opposed to saying, 'All right, we're supposed to hang out with each other, so let's go play basketboll or something.' We just sort of hung out… We just hit it off immediately . There's no rhyme or reason to what happened. I’d rather get along somebody than not, and Jensen’s the same way. If we don’t get along, then 125 crew members are miserable and the show sucks. It’s very flattering, because we’ll have guest stars and guest directors come to do the show, and they’re like ‘Man, y’all get along so well. Everything is fun. We come to the set and y’all are having a good time and laughing’. We just want to work hard and make sure our crew is happy.

The actors do work hard – very hard – but whenever they get the chance, they like to hang out off set.
Padalecki: “When we can. we love to go out and have a drink, watch football, or catch a hockey game now that we’re in Canada. Growing up in Texas, there weren’t a whole lot of opportunities to see hockey games. But yeah, whenever we get the chance, we’ll hang out, play basketball or work out or something…”

Jared: I think Jensen and I got along so well because we didn't try hard. It didn't feel like being on a blind date. It seemed as if we had been friends before, and not as if we had gotten together and - “so, we kind of need to become friends, let’s go and play basketball or something...” We just went and became friends, everything immediately came together by itself. Just like that, out of nowhere.
I think it's better to be friends with others, and Jensen does too. Just imagine - he and I didn’t get along. As a result, 125 team members suffer, and the show is a complete failure. You know, it’s very flattering when invited actors and directors come to us and say: “Listen, it’s so cool here, you’re so friendly! We were only waiting for work, but here people are having a good time and having fun.” We work hard and try to maintain warm relationships in the team.
The actors work really hard - they give it their all - but if the opportunity arises, they are happy to relax away from the set.
Jared: When it works out, we like to go for a walk, drink, watch football or hockey - we’re in Canada. Growing up in Texas, we had very few chances to watch a hockey game. So, whenever possible, we have fun, play basketball, work out on exercise machines or do something else...

Question: Do you and Jared often hang out after filming?
Jensen:Oh yah, quite often!
Which means, we’re filming about 12-15 hours a day, so there’s not much time left for hanging out, is there?
So mostly after filming, i just go home, prepare for the next day, get some rest.
Furthermore, when shooting “Smallville” and “Dark Angel” i already spent most of my time in Canada and i still have many friends here, so i’m perfectly used to it. And yet, there are still many adventures in different places to be discovered…
However, Jared has become a real close friend to me. I was really surprised how close we’ve become during the show and it feels as if we already became “real” brothers and as if I’m watching my little brother growing up.

Question: Do you and Jared hang out a lot after filming?
Jensen: Oh yes, very often! Although, if you do the math, we work 12-15 hours a day, and there is not much time left for rest. Usually I go home from the site, prepare for the next working day and relax.
Plus, Smallville and Dark Angel were filmed in Canada, and I still have a lot of friends here, so it feels like home. And yet, there are still unexplored places to visit.
And Jared became a really close friend to me. I was very surprised at how close we became during filming, it feels like we actually became brothers, and it’s like I’m watching my little brother grow up.

Jared: Then Jensen and I just get along really well, we’re great friends and we have a great time filming with each other. HOST : Yeah, I imagine it’s gotta be different from most filming experiences because it’s the 2 of you guys week in and week out. I imagine you have to bond or else it’s going to self destruction.
Jared: Yeah, if we didn’t bond I think the show would have been canceled long ago. Um but we do bond and we have a great time and we have a tough schedule because it’s only of us. We're working insane hours but on the flip side we watch out for each other and we're there for each other and you know, we're there like if he's having a tough day I'll kick him in the ass and tell him to bring it up and if I'm having a tough day he'll you know slap me in the face and tell me to bring it up.

Jared: Jensen and I get along great, we're great friends and we really enjoy filming together. It’s cool because we see each other’s shortcomings and point out them - for example, in some take we can say: “Dude, you leaked this, let’s do it again. You’re not doing well today.” We just have each other, and I don’t know of any other TV shows that have a permanent pair of main actors.
Leading: Yes, I can imagine, because here, unlike other series, it’s just you two, week after week. Probably, if you hadn't become friends, the show would have collapsed.
Jared: Yeah, if we hadn’t gotten along, the show would have been closed a long time ago. But we get along, we have a great time and we have a tight schedule due to the fact that it's just the two of us. We have to work a crazy amount of time, but we look out for each other, we take care, and you know, sometimes when he’s having a hard day, I give him an inspiring kick and make him get ready, and if I’m having a hard day, he quickly brings me to my senses and makes me work.

Exclusive: Supernatural Stars Flattered By Fan Devotion (february 2007)

Interviewer: Is it important to your on-screen relationship that you and Jared get along so well in real life?
Jensen: I think it's incredibly important. I don’t think the show would have succeeded the way that it has, had he and I not bonded the way we did. I can’t imagine working with somebody that I didn’t get along with. In almost 40 episodes, he and I have come at each other one time, and that was just because we were super tired and super strung-out. Immediately following, I went into his trailer, it was squashed, we gave each other a hug and it was done. We're truly like brothers. I pick on him and he fights back. It’s a very comraderic type of relationship. I’m very proud to know him and I hope he feels the same. I think it’s a very cool aspect of the show that we get along the way we do.

Journalist: Is it important to your on-screen relationship that you and Jared are actually friends?
Jensen: I think it’s incredibly important. It is unlikely that the series would have been such a success if we had not become friends with him. I can't imagine working with someone I don't like. In 40 episodes, we only had a fight once, and then only because of fatigue and severe overexertion. After the quarrel, I immediately went to his trailer, the trailer was damaged, and we hugged and made up. We are truly like brothers. I tease him, he snaps. Such a very friendly relationship. I'm proud of how we met and I hope he feels the same. I think our friendship is a very cool bonus that we got from filming this series.

Interview: “Supernatural’ stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles: Chemistry is crucial (March 2010)

“The most important thing I’ve learned from working with Jared is how crucial chemistry is for something to be successful in this industry,” Ackles says. “I think if the two lead actors — whether it’s brothers, or a husband and wife — if they don’t have chemistry, then it’s not going to work. Good friendship and solidarity has been a crucial aspect of our success.”

Jensen: The biggest thing I learned from working with Jared is that chemistry is vital in our industry. If there is no chemistry between the two main characters - brothers or husband and wife - nothing will work. In our success real friendship and cohesion played a decisive role.

I love it when a plan comes together

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki spoke with a correspondent from a Dutch magazine STARS and answered several questions. The interview is of a humorous nature, and sometimes the translation from Dutch into English and then into Russian resembles a game of broken telephone. Jared vs Jensen.

They didn't know each other, but thanks to the series Supernatural, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles became not only colleagues, but also best friends. These Texas guys, like the Winchesters, share everything except vacations and girlfriends. STARS Magazine spoke with the TV brothers and asked them to answer a few questions about their characters so we can finally decide which one we love more.

Tough guy or good guy?

Jared: Because Dean is the macho guy on Supernatural and Sam is the quieter guy, people often think I'm the softer of the two of us.
Jensen: And they are not wrong.
Jared: Okay, I admit, I can be a big softie.
Jensen: Weren't you crying over a book recently?
Jared: Yes, but at least I have the courage to admit it. And you still believe in that old-fashioned “real men don’t cry.”
Jensen: There's nothing wrong with old-fashioned values.
Jared: Do you know what else he is? He doesn't worry about trifles. I once watched in admiration as, after having just been told off by a producer, he simply said, “Are you done? Let's go have a beer." I need to think and digest everything that they tell me.
Jensen: But on the other hand, you are also a little like that. You are reserved and relaxed, and don't like to get into fights. You like to be left alone so you can do your own thing. You're not a weakling at all.

Friends or brothers?

Jensen: It's almost impossible to explain. Because of the filming of the show, we have to spend nine months of the year together. And even during breaks between filming, it is absolutely impossible to do something just for yourself. We are together all the time. But if you want to compare our relationship and Sam and Dean's relationship, there is a huge difference between them. Jared never makes me angry.
Jared: Brothers and sisters quarrel from time to time. Or even worse, they can’t get along at all. Jensen and I never had a fight. I don't think you see this very often.
Jensen: We're best friends, so it's nothing special.

Optimist or pessimist?

Jensen: I'm a big optimist and usually try to see the good in people. I am open-minded, but I am not an extrovert. I am known as a hardworking and practical person who does not like unnecessary complications. I prefer to stay away from paparazzi and reds carpet runners Hollywood, focusing instead on his career.
Jared: I'm like that too, as Jensen said. Nothing to say! And I am no less an optimist than both Winchester brothers together.
Jensen: Buddy, this is probably too much.

Loves to show off or indifferent to appearance?

Jared: You're the first to answer!
Jensen: Well, of course, thank you very much! I was once a model and I was taught to care about how I looked. No, rather, never forget about how I look. I love a good suit and, yes, I do my hair before I leave the house. But that's all. I'm not the kind of person who will go to beauty salons.
Jared: When it comes to clothes, I'm not picky. In fact. I wear what I like and usually these are the things that catch my eye when I look around my room in the morning. Like today, for example. I put on a beanie because my hair isn't having a great day and I wasn't wearing anything special. However, I take care of my body. My biggest fear is becoming fat.
Jensen: One day he had to film a scene where he was digging up a grave without a shirt. I laughed so hard. He whined about this for weeks and did not leave the gym. Although, for the sake of fairness, it is worth saying that it was not in vain. However, the moment we started filming the scene, his pants tore. But the most remarkable thing is that the camera was right behind him at that moment! I rolled on the ground laughing for half an hour. Especially when he said, “Damn, did I really train this long just to have my pants fall apart?”
Jared: Now I really want to tell you some story about you that will make you feel ashamed, but I can’t remember anything.
Jensen: Because such stories don't exist.
Jared: Besides the fact that you often stuff your mouth full of food, and that your pants fall down to the middle ***, and this certainly has nothing to do with beauty.

Superstitious or not?

Jensen: I wouldn't call myself superstitious, but I believe that there is something more between heaven and earth than meets the eye. I am open to the perception of the supernatural, although until now I have not had to take salt and ward off evil spirits from the threshold.
Jared: I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. This may sound melodramatic, but I don't believe in randomness. I also believe that we are not the only living beings in this universe.

Nerd or heartthrob?

Jensen: Botanist! What a funny word.
Jared: Also a nerd! Although people used to say that I looked like Matt Damon, and now that I look like Brad Pitt.
Jensen: Yeah, I'm daydreaming!
