Enlarged pores on the face make few people happy, so women often use products to disguise them.

Beautiful healthy skin. Isn’t this what a woman dreams of when she looks at her reflection in the mirror every day?

However, there are various ways that can help tighten pores, which is what we will talk about in this article.

As a rule, this problem is relevant for owners of oily and combination skin.

Why is there a problem with wide pores?

Dermatologists' opinion

Due to excess oil secretion, pores expand, dust and dirt easily enter them, bacteria multiply, resulting in the formation of blackheads and pimples.

To change the current situation, it is necessary to take certain measures that will help narrow pores and reduce sebum production. But first, let's take a deeper look at the reasons why the pores on the face are enlarged.

According to dermatologists, pores are the “lungs” of the skin. This is explained by the fact that the skin is responsible for breathing, thermoregulation, protection from ultraviolet radiation, and participates in water-salt metabolism.

Therefore, with the slightest damage and malfunction, an infection can penetrate the skin and aesthetic problems arise.

Attention! If no measures are taken, enlarged pores lead to the skin becoming lumpy and becoming a gateway for the penetration of free radicals, toxins, and other harmful substances.

What are the causes of increased sebum secretion and enlarged pores?

  1. The hereditary factor plays a big role. However, daily care and cosmetic procedures help not to worsen the situation.
  2. Women often notice changes in their skin due to hormonal imbalance. This happens during pregnancy, menopause, menopause or puberty in girls and boys. In addition, endocrine diseases can cause a malfunction, in which case you need to visit an appropriate specialist.
  3. Nutrition and diet also play an important role: it is advisable to exclude or significantly reduce spicy, fatty, sweet foods, smoking, and alcohol in your diet.
  4. Metabolic disorders.
  5. Poor quality and unsuitable skin care products.
  6. Poor quality decorative products such as foundation and powder close the pores, which forces them to work harder. The use of waterproof products is especially harmful.
  7. Pollution of the large intestine leads to the fact that the skin is forced to intensively remove harmful substances through the skin.
  8. Ultraviolet radiation and dehydration.

Important! Complete or partial elimination of the above reasons will greatly help solve the problem!

How to get rid of enlarged pores

Wash your face properly

Skin cleansing procedures should be carried out not only in the evening, but also in the morning. What are we doing? We wash ourselves with special products - soft gel scrubs containing acids.

Use tonic

People with enlarged pores on their face simply need to use a tonic or lotion daily - this will help tighten the pores after the cleansing procedure. It is best to give preference to specialized professional cosmetics. Pore-tightening tonics contain astringent components: extracts of birch, calendula, lemon, hawthorn, rosemary. And if the lotion contains zinc oxide, then with its help you can not only narrow the pores of the skin, but also remove excess sebum. After toner, apply a daily sebum-regulating moisturizer to the skin.

Make masks from clay, starch, eggs

It is also necessary to use masks 1-2 times a week to cleanse and tighten pores. The most effective masks at home are those made from white and blue clay. Both of these clays are renowned for their ability to cleanse, disinfect and restore skin. Regular clay masks eliminate skin unevenness, improve blood circulation, smooth out wrinkles, tighten pores and tone. In addition to clay masks, masks made from starch and egg whites are good.

Dealing with enlarged pores is even easier if you contact a cosmetologist and undergo a course of effective procedures. Here are some of the most popular treatment methods:

Peeling

There are chemical peels with fruit acids, glycolic, salicylic peels, retinoic peels, TCA peels, and milk peels. The essence of chemical peeling is that the drug acts on the skin at different levels, which makes it possible to solve the problem of enlarged pores and give the skin a healthy color and even tone.

Cryotherapy

The liquid nitrogen cryomassage procedure helps reduce the secretion of the sebaceous glands and tightens the pores.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion, or micro-resurfacing using a special brush, microcrystals, diamond attachments.

Laser resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a procedure that removes and renews the surface layer of skin, and also affects the deeper layers of the epidermis, which helps reduce collagen fibers. Thus, the skin is tightened and the pore diameter is reduced. The procedure is considered the most effective.

In any case, if you have enlarged pores, you should visit a cosmetologist who will help you choose the right care for problem skin at home, and also tell you which method of treating enlarged pores will be most effective specifically for the individual characteristics of the body and medical factors.

Oily skin causes a lot of trouble, because a person is constantly faced with the problem of blackheads and acne, which appear in fairly large quantities on the forehead, nose and chin. Various masks, peeling, and mechanical facial cleansing help get rid of such an unaesthetic “decoration” on the face. However, all of the listed methods and procedures do not give the desired effect if the pores are not opened before using them.

Why enlarge pores?

Trying to get rid of blackheads by squeezing them out without first expanding the pores, you are unlikely to achieve the desired result. In addition, if the pores are not enlarged, you will have to put in more effort, and this will entail a number of negative consequences - you will damage the skin, leave scars on it, and they will either take a long time to heal or will not heal at all. Therefore, in order not to injure the skin and carry out a deeper cleansing of the face, be sure to expand the pores, and only after that begin the cleansing procedure.

Proper pore expansion

Before you begin to enlarge your pores, you must wash off all makeup from your face, because cosmetics will only get in the way. You should also wash your hands with soap and those utensils that you plan to use when cleansing your skin. Next, disinfect the same tools (for example, with perfume or alcohol).

Even oily skin cannot be kept over steam for a long time, not to mention sensitive skin. Normally, 15 minutes are enough to steam your face (sensitive skin will need less time). If you ignore this advice, do not be surprised when you discover a deterioration in her condition. And if you use professional cosmetics for cleansing, never use them without reading the instructions.

  4. If you don't really want to hold your face above the steam, try using another method. Go into the bathroom and close the door, turn on the hot water and wait until the room fills with steam. When this happens, just stand in the bathroom for a quarter of an hour. During the specified time, the pores on your face will be able to open, and you will then cleanse your skin. By the way, it is recommended to cleanse directly in the bathroom, since the steam present in it will not allow the pores to close.
  5. Use a mask of oatmeal and baking soda. To prepare it, you need to mix a quarter teaspoon of soda and a tablespoon of cereal, then dilute these ingredients with milk until you obtain the consistency of a thick slurry. The mask is applied to the face, and after 20 minutes it is washed off with warm water.
  6. The following recipe for a pore-expanding mask consists of honey and olive oil. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon of oil, as well as linden honey. Wash off the mask with a decoction of linden or chamomile. This mask will help soften the skin, nourish it and expand the pores.

What to do after pore enlargement?

After completing the facial steaming procedure, it’s time to move on to cleansing it. And here it is important not to make the mistakes that many people make. For example, it is not recommended to squeeze out blackheads with your fingers. Firstly, such effects are too aggressive for the skin; it is not yet ready for it. Secondly, the plugs that clog the pores on the face are most often hard and quite difficult to remove. The more force you apply when squeezing, the higher the likelihood of injuring the skin.

It is better to use soft scrubs for these purposes. They remove sebum and dead skin particles well, which clog pores. After gentle cleansing, you can steam the skin again. For what? The fact is that when you remove the plugs, after repeated steaming, your skin will become much softer and more pliable for further cleaning. In addition, there will be no pain.
