The current calendar week will end with a wonderful holiday - Happy Easter!

And even though it is not customary to give any significant gifts on this holiday, it is very possible and necessary to please your family and friends with bright felt eggs made by yourself :) This will create a festive spring mood!

They can also be used to decorate festive table or a beautiful Easter wreath made of branches. Well, kids will probably love making these eggs as gifts for grandparents for Easter;) After all, the process of creating them is quite easy, interesting and very creative!

So, in order to sew bright felt magnet eggs, you will need:

pattern;

felt (both plain and with a pattern);

scissors;

ordinary threads;

floss threads to match the felt and in a contrasting color;

vinyl magnetic sheet;

needle;

glue moment crystal;

a little synthetic fluff;

a simple pencil or tailor's chalk;

various decorative elements for decorating eggs (buttons, beads, lace, half beads);

When all the materials are ready, let's get to the fun part - creativity! :)

1. Translate to Blank sheet pattern of the egg and cut it along the contour.
2. We choose felt for the base of our decorative egg and, applying the pattern to it twice, trace it along the contour with a simple pencil or chalk.

3. Carefully cut out.

4. Now we cut out the middle part from the pattern with the inscription “XV” (Christ is Risen). This part will be decorative, it will decorate the egg. And so we cut it out from felt of a different color or from felt with a pattern.

5. Well, we have prepared three main parts for creating our future felt Easter egg.

6. Now we put the back part aside for a while and start decorating the front part.

To do this, first we chop off the base with the middle colored insert and sew them with a regular seam forward of the needle using small stitches in one thread. We lay the seam at the top and bottom, retreating 2mm from the edge.

7. Now let's close the seam beautiful lace, also sewing it into one thread with very small stitches with the seam forward of the needle. Such lace, as shown in the photo, can be sewn both behind its base and behind the “pattern”, so that in the end the lace ribbon fits tightly to the felt base. Carefully trim off the excess to the shape of an egg.

8. Visually focusing on the inscription “ХВ” (Christ is Risen) on the pattern, we transfer it to our testicle using a simple pencil or chalk.
Don't make the line too thick. Otherwise, you may tear the felt or the line itself may be visible after embroidering.

9. Using a needle back stitch and three strands of floss, we embroider the letters using neat and even stitches.
10. Now we add a little more decor, using bright buttons, beads, and half-beads.
11. And now we can sew the two parts of our testicle together. We put them on top of each other and pin them together with a couple of pins. Make sure that those sides on which the pencil line of the egg outline may be visible are on the inside of the product and not on the outside.
12. We sew the two parts of the egg together with a decorative overcast stitch using six strands of floss. To begin with, we hide the knot inside the product and then “go around” it around the entire perimeter, trying to lay the stitches at the same distance from the edge and between each other.
13. When almost the entire egg is sewn together, we stop and leave a small (2-3cm) hole for stuffing. We don't cut the thread!

14. Using padding polyester (holofiber), carefully and evenly stuff the egg. You shouldn’t make a pillow for them, it will be a magnet. This means it must be quite flat.

15. When you think there is enough stuffing, we finish decorating the egg by sewing up the hole with the same overcast stitch.

16. Our felt Easter egg is almost ready!

At this point you need to decide how you will use it.
If you hang a willow bouquet as a toy, for example, then simply thread a needle and thread through the top of the product and tie a knot. This will create a pendant.
If you just put an egg on everyone's plate as a napkin decoration, for example, then leave it that way.
Or you can make an egg with a bright holiday magnet;)

17. To do this, cut a small oval out of a sheet of vinyl magnet and use Crystal Moment All-Purpose Adhesive to glue it to the back of the egg. Press firmly so that the glue sets.

So, what do you need to make beautiful felt Easter eggs?

First, you'll need felt. Wool felt is preferable. It sews well, looks cozy, and you can find great colors in their range. You will also need embroidery floss. Use any colors you like (like we used in the first egg, the photo of which you can see above). Or use just one color for a simple, classic egg.

You also need a needle. We used 3 strand floss, so we recommend size 5 or size 8 needles. Plus you will need some soft filler. A bunch of cotton balls will work great in this case. And finally, you will need a template, which you can download below. This template is full-size, so you don't have to do any expansion.

There are also a few extras to help you stitch the best stitches of your life! Fabry's self-adhesive non-woven fabric is great for transferring patterns onto felt (as you will see below), it's easy to use, and the stitches on it are even and beautiful! Such non-woven fabric can be easily purchased at a craft store.

Step-by-step instructions with photos

So let's start sewing felt Easter eggs.

Step 2: translate patterns

Trace the patterns carefully along all the lines with a pencil on self-adhesive non-woven material.

Cut each piece with a gap of approximately 3-4 mm. Glue the interlining onto the felt.

Step 3: Embroider the design

Next you need to embroider the design. You will sew directly through the stabilizer and felt. We used a combination of the following stitches: back igloo, running stitch, lazy daisy, and French knot. Below we will show you how to make them if you are new to embroidery and these stitches are not familiar to you.

Back stitch

To form this stitch, insert the needle into the fabric from the underside about 0.5 cm from where you want to start sewing. Then insert the needle from the front side to the starting point of sewing and move it from the bottom 1 cm forward. Bring the needle up from the bottom (see picture below).

Running stitch

This is the simplest stitch. Simply insert the needle and thread into the fabric from bottom to top and top to bottom at equal intervals.

Stitch “Lazy daisy”

To form this seam, bring the needle out from the bottom up and immediately insert the needle back into the same place from top to bottom. You should have a loop formed. At some distance, bring the needle up from the bottom, pick up this loop and bring the needle back to the same place.

French knot

Bring the needle up from the bottom. Wind 2 turns of thread onto the needle, then pass the needle to the same place from top to bottom.

For all seams we used 3 strand floss. For this egg we embroidered with white thread using Norwegian blue felt. For the sample above we used straw colored felt.

Repeat the embroidery for all four wedge shapes.

Step 4: Trim along the outline

Once you are done with the embroidery, trim all four pieces neatly along the lines.

Step 5: Remove the interlining

Now you need to soak the stabilizer. To do this, place all the pieces face down in a bowl of cold water and let them sit there for about an hour. The stabilizer will become viscous and soft. Rinse it under cold running water. If any pieces are difficult to separate, simply run them under a strong stream of water and they will come off. Don't rub the surface of the felt - just let the water do its job.

Set the pieces on a towel and let them dry. Do not wring or twist them, even slightly. Just place them wet on a towel and let them dry.

Step 6: Sew the Pieces

Place the two egg pieces together with the embroidery facing up and sew them together along one edge. We used a running stitch with small stitches, which leaves a nice ridge along the seams of the egg. If you want a smoother finish, you can use a finishing stitch to stitch the edges.

Attention: be careful not to mix up the ends of the parts! The front of each piece is longer and thinner, while the back end is shorter and not as sharp.

Repeat for the second pair of pieces.

Step 7: Sew the Egg

Sew both pieces together, making sure the ends are positioned correctly. Leave 4-5 cm of the last seam open for stuffing.

The easiest way to sew an egg is if you roll it into the shape of a deflated football.

Add soft stuffing to the craft, then carefully sew up the hole.

You will need

● Main fabric - thick cotton fabric, linen

Description of work

Step 1: cut out the pieces

Select ribbons and braids that match the color of the fabric on the upper side and arrange them in a certain order for testing. From the main fabric, cut 2 rectangular pieces for the sides of the bag with a seam allowance of 0.5 cm on the sides and bottom and 4 cm for the hem of the top edge.

Step 2: Sew the bag parts

Sew the bag parts along the sides and bottom. Sew the seams with a zigzag stitch. Fold the two pieces so that the side seams are aligned, stitch the corners across to form a flat bottom, as shown in the photo. Fold the hem along the top edge to the wrong side 2x and sew by hand.

Step 3: Sew on the handle

Sew the ends of the tape to the side seams to the hem on the wrong side, while tucking the ends of the tape inward.

Step 4: sew on ribbons and braids

On the front side, manually sew ribbons and braids in a certain order using hidden stitches, while tucking the ends at one side seam.

Step 5: Fill your purse

Place decorative straw and colorful eggs alternately in your purse.

Embroidered egg warmers

You will need

● Canvas or linen for counted embroidery
● Embroidery threads
● Embroidery needle
● Hoop
● Ribbons for bows

Description of work

Step 1: do the embroidery

Transfer the motif to the fabric - you can use one of the motifs given in. Place the fabric in the hoop and embroider the motif with a cross. If desired, the motif can be embroidered on both sides. Iron the embroidery under a damp iron.

Step 2: Sew Egg Warmers

Cut out 2 parts for each heating pad so that the embroidery is in the middle of one of the sides at a distance of approx. 3 cm from the bottom edge, while allowing allowances for the side cuts of 1 cm wide, along the top and bottom cuts - see below.

Warmers can be sewn in two ways. First: when cutting, give hem allowances along the top and bottom cuts 4 cm wide. Sew the side seams, then double hem along the top and bottom sides.

Second: cut out pieces of double height with a hem along the entire contour 1 cm wide, fold them in half crosswise and stitch along the bottom edge so that the embroidery is located at a distance of approx. 3 cm from the bottom edge. Now stitch the sides together, leaving a hole in the seam for turning. Turn the part inside out and sew up the hole in the seam.

Step 3: tie a bow

Try the warmers on the eggs in the stands, gather the fabric along the top edge into folds, tie a bow and straighten the folds. Please ensure that the embroidery is clearly visible.

Easter bunny with colored belly

You will need

● Plain fabric
● Fabric with a pattern
● Sewing threads
● Pins
● Embroidery threads
● Embroidery needle
● Cotton wool for stuffing

Description of work

Step 1: prepare the cutting details

Cut out 2 parts of the body, 4 parts of ears (of different heights), 8 parts of legs from a plain fabric - cut all parts with allowances 1 cm wide. Cut out a part of the tummy and 2 internal parts of the ears from fabric with a pattern - cut all parts without allowances.

Step 2: Sew the details and embroider

On the parts of the tummy and ears, overcast the sections with a zigzag stitch, except for those that will be tacked into the stitching seam of the main parts. Sew the inner parts of colored fabric into the edge of the 2 ear pieces. Stitch the tummy detail to the edge on the front side of the body. Embroider the nose with pink embroidery threads and the eyelashes with black threads.

Step 3: sew the toy

Sew 2 pieces of ears and legs along the rounded edges, notch the allowances on the curves. Turn inside out and press seams. Pin the parts of the ears and legs to the front side of the body and secure with pins. Place the parts of the body face to face, with the paws and ears inside. Stitch the parts together, leaving a hole at the bottom for turning inside out. Turn the toy inside out, stuff it with cotton wool and sew up the hole in the seam.

Gift Easter eggs made of felt

You will need

● Multi-colored felt
● Multi-colored ribbons in Vichy check, approx. wide. 1 cm
● Narrow satin ribbons for bow
● Some cotton wool for stuffing
● Embroidery threads
● Small iron-on rhinestones (6 for one side of each egg)
● Textile glue

Description of work

Step 1: Cut out the parts

From felt of different colors, cut out 2 egg parts without allowances. Draw a flower, cut it out, transfer the contours to white felt, cut it out. Cut circles from yellow felt for the flower hearts. Cut strips of approx. wide from felt of different colors. 3 cm = width of the middle of the egg piece. Cut off pieces from the checkered ribbons = the width of the middle of the egg piece + 1 cm allowance at both ends. Cut lengths of approx. from the ribbons for the bows. 15−20 cm.

Step 2: decorate the details

Place a strip of felt (of a different color) on the egg piece and secure with glue. Place a checkered ribbon over it, tucking the ends, and also secure with glue. Glue a flower on top in the middle of the ribbons. Iron the rhinestones.

Step 3: Sew the Pieces

Fold the egg parts with the decor back to back, sew with embroidery thread using a langet stitch - see the description of the stitches in. Before finishing stitching the pieces, loosely stuff the egg with cotton wool. Sew a bow on top.

Easter chickens made of felt

You will need

● Multi-colored felt, a small piece of black felt
● Threads in contrasting colors
● Paper
● Pencil
● Scissors
● Textile glue

Description of work

Step 1: Prepare the parts

Draw an outline of the chicks on paper, using the model in the photo as a template using stitch lines with contrasting threads. Transfer the outline to felt. Cut out 2 parts of the body and 2 parts of the wings for each chicken with allowances of 0.5 cm. From felt of a different color, cut out triangles for the beaks and small circles from black felt for the eyes, glue the eyes. Sew the beak by hand using straight stitches.

Step 2: Sew the Pieces

Fold 2 body parts back to back, insert 1 wing piece on each side. Sew along the contour to the edge, separately along the edges of the wings with threads of a contrasting color. Spread the bottom edge so that it forms an oval and place the chickens in a row.

Felt chicken - egg warmer

It is carried out according to the description of “chickens made of felt” - see. at the top, but without wings and cut the sections with zigzag scissors.

You will need

● Soft, “loose” fabric
● Sewing threads

Step 1: Prepare the Fabric

Transfer the silhouette of a rabbit from the photo of the motif onto paper and cut it out. According to the size of the motif for each side of the rabbit, cut out 4 square pieces of fabric, adding allowances. Sew the fabric along the contour, folding all the flaps right side up and pinning all the layers. Sew diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. Next, lay lines parallel to the diagonal at equal intervals. Using scissors, cut through 3 layers of fabric, leaving the bottom one intact.

Step 2: Prepare the Parts

Transfer the outline of the rabbit to the wrong side of the whole flap and cut it out with seam allowances along all sections. At the same time, pin the layers of fabric together with pins or stitch along the contour.

Step 3: Stitch the parts

Place the pieces face to face and stitch along the contour, leaving a hole in the seam for turning. Turn out the parts, stuff the rabbit with cotton wool, and sew up the hole in the seam. Then unfold the layers so that the sections crumble a little and all the layers are visible. You can also unroll the layers using a regular clothes brush, moving it left and right across the slits.

Easter bunnies made of felt with pompoms

You will need

● White felt

Step 1: Cut out the parts

Transfer the outline of the rabbit onto paper and cut it out. Transfer the outline according to the paper pattern 2 times onto white felt and 2 times onto colored felt without allowances in a mirror image. Cut out. Cross stitch along the bottom edge of the body. Sew beads in place of the eyes. Mark the place where the tape will be sewn (nose).

Step 2: Sew the Pieces

Fold 4 pieces: first, 2 pieces of white and a contrasting color, back to back, then fold 2 pieces each so that the pieces of the contrasting color are on the inside, while making a hole for the nose and putting a piece of gift ribbon into it so that the ends are on the inside, stick. Sew along the contour using straight stitches, leaving the bottom edge open. At the same time, sew through all four layers with the exception of the ears, see photo. Sew the mustache by making 3 stitches with a long loop and trimming the ends of the threads. At the back, sew a pompom in place of the tail.

Creative people strive to show their imagination when preparing for the holidays. What kind of material are Easter eggs made from: wood, fabric, satin ribbons. 1. First you need to cut out the details of the paper pattern. In this case, the egg consists of three parts, but four can be used.

How to sew an Easter egg from felt with your own hands, master class

First of all, we need a pattern for the egg, as well as flowers for decoration:

Egg pattern

Using the pattern, we cut out the details of the future Easter egg:

• Three parts of the egg itself made of yellow felt.
• Two leaves - a large and a small one made of green felt.
• Five petals made of pink felt.
• Flower core made of purple felt.

We sew three parts of the egg from yellow felt, leaving an unsewn place in order to turn it inside out. Turn the egg right side out and stuff it.

Sew up the egg with a hidden seam.

We collect the flower petals on a thread for assembly.

We tighten the thread. Sew the first and last petals.

We assemble the core of the flower, put a ball of stuffing material inside, and tighten the thread. It turns out to be a ball. Sew the core to the flower, sew on the leaves.

Sew the finished flower to the egg. The felt Easter egg is ready!

Here are some Easter felt ideas:
