DIY lamb costume for the New Year. New Year's goat costume for children

If you are allergic to mimimi, quickly close this page: a sheep costume is the height of charm, not everyone can tolerate such a dose. First, you will be moved by the process of making a sheep costume, then you will shed a tear when you see it put on for the first time, and then you will become the cause of everyone’s long-lasting emotion. This outfit is perfect for both a cute little lamb and an adult playful sheep. In general, you can dress the whole family in a small herd by appointing one person as a shepherd or shepherdess. So, take a deep breath and let’s get started!

Making a white body

You will need: a white T-shirt, a vest, a sweatshirt (you will have to cut off the sleeves), possibly with a hood, a lot of cotton balls, a needle and white thread.

  • Choose a suitable suit that will become the basis of your sheep's body, lay it out.
  • Take cotton balls (you can buy them at a drug store or home improvement store) and start sewing them onto the base.
  • Sew tightly so that the balls create a continuous surface. If you are working with clothing that is not too loose, periodically try on the resulting body - it should not begin to wrinkle or shrink.
  • Shake the finished structure thoroughly to check how tightly the balls are sewn. Individual elements may need to be secured additionally.

A few useful sheep secrets:

If you don't want to or don't know how to sew, you can simply glue the balls - especially if you have a convenient glue gun:

The finished suit can be trimmed around the perimeter with faux fur, then the sheep will turn out to be the most touching:

As a base, you can use not only a wide vest, but also any other comfortable clothing. So, you can inexpensively buy white sports overalls or pajamas, and also sew a sheep costume with your own hands - especially when it comes to an outfit for a baby.

To go classic black and white, you can color some of the cotton balls black. Just do this ahead of time and let them dry before you start sewing or gluing. This will create a natural dividing line between dark and light coats. In addition, you can simply put black limbs under the white body using tight trousers and a turtleneck. To make the costume really fun, use... tights. Durable black tights, worn on your legs and arms, will turn you into a real graceful sheep!

Ears and horns

If you are lucky with a vest equipped with a hood, then you just need to not stop and continue gluing the balls - so the hood will turn into a sheep's head. The ears can be cut out of white or black felt. If desired, you can hem them in soft pink. The main thing is not to forget to make a black dot on the nose - you will immediately have a very sheepish look:

In addition, the headdress for your sheep costume can be a whole head - for this you can use a large toy sheep or sew it according to a pattern, gluing on expressive eyes:

Alternatively, you can use a curly round wig as a base - in this case, the ears should be attached to the inner mesh. Completely “sheep” wigs can be purchased, for example, from us. Remember that if you are a natural brunette or brown-haired, a large and light halo around your head will require you to give up too wide eyebrows and, possibly, lighten your skin - this way your face will not appear too dark:

Very cute sheep masks can also be purchased, matching them in tone and style to the costume. This is what one of the soft fabric masks looks like:

And this is a version of a purchased cardboard mask:

A wonderful version of the mask can work out if you have... a disposable plate:

You will need a white plastic plate (the size depends on how large the head is for the mask), the same cotton balls, black and brown markers, glue, hairpins or an elastic band:

  • Cut out the plate as shown in the picture - you should have the base of the mask, horns and ears.
  • Glue the ears and horns onto the base of the mask.
  • Bend the nose slightly and color it. Paint the horns brown or gild them - this is in fashion among sheep!
  • Now stick cotton balls on the top, choosing a thickness of wool that suits you.
  • Attach bobby pins or an elastic band to keep the sheep mask on your head. The mask is ready!

There are horns - now hooves!

Now all that remains is to make the hooves. Don’t forget that the sheep has four of them, so you’ll have to work with both hands and feet. The easiest option is to choose shoes and gloves (or mittens) to match. Alternatively, you can use black hoof-shaped foam bracelets. To make your sheep costume even more realistic, don't shy away from the idea of getting yourself a short, round tail. This could be a piece of fabric with several cotton balls or a cute voluminous tail stuffed with synthetic padding:

In addition, if you are sewing yourself a wonderful sheep's overalls, you can take care of the hooves (at least on the hind legs) in advance. Simply make your own soles from a very thick shiny fabric by gluing or sewing matching stripes on the instep. And if a sheep costume is made for the smallest lamb, the hooves can be made pink:

Feel free to decorate your costume. The sheep wear bells and bows! For example, like this:

See how easy it is to make a sheep costume! If your imagination requires something more, be bold. Maybe you can do something even more original while still maintaining its undeniable sheep-like quality. And yes! Don't forget to learn how to bleat well!

Options and ideas

It’s easy to make a lamb costume with your own hands in different ways from several types of materials. Options could be:

  • in the form of a blouse with or without sleeves;
  • warm or light, with terry or plush inserts;
  • the voluminous muzzle is made integral with the costume;
  • overalls, the continuation of which are slippers in the shape of hooves;
  • separately sewn hooves (like mittens and boots);
  • a vest and a hat with horns, the rest was selected from ordinary things;
  • only a muzzle in the form of a cap.

A DIY lamb costume can be made from white or brown material. The most important thing is to make clothes that will make it comfortable for a child of this age to walk, sit, and not feel hot. If you are making an outfit for a baby for a photo shoot, even warm fabric and a model in the form of overalls will do, but for a preschooler going to the Christmas tree, where he will actively move and dance, it is better to provide something lighter - a vest with a hat, for example. Choose other accessories based on comfort as well.

What you will need

In order to make a lamb costume with your own hands, you need to prepare the following:

  • the fabric from which you will sew the product, or ready-made clothes that match the color, which can be modified to match the sheep;
  • pattern paper and pencil;
  • scissors;
  • threads with a needle;
  • pins;
  • a sewing machine, although you can do everything by hand;
  • cotton balls, openwork yarn, wool or acrylic threads to imitate sheep skin.

DIY lamb costume for a baby

To make a model like the one shown in the photo below, do the following:

1. Buy a ready-made jumpsuit made of soft fabric or use an existing cotton one, make a pattern and sew it yourself according to the sample.

2. From pink fabric (blue for a boy), cut out the details of the ears, chest and cuffs.

3. Sew all the parts into the appropriate places, pre-processing the cuts.

4. For the feet, ordinary white socks are quite suitable, which can also be decorated.

5. Sew satin ribbon bows.

The first version of the costume is ready. If you need something lighter to keep your child from sweating while in the costume, try another idea.

You can sew this option yourself by cutting out the parts from an existing bodysuit or jumpsuit, or take a finished item and cut off the legs and sleeves. Don't forget to trim the edges. You can take any shoes and sew them on top, or simply put on terry or fluffy leg warmers, which are easy to make by folding a strip of fabric of the required width and sewing one seam.

In this case, it is assumed that the child will be wearing it on the Christmas tree for at least an hour or two, so the outfit should not be too warm.

If you need to make such a thing quickly, take the following:

  • white turtleneck and pants (preferably sports);
  • Czechs;
  • hat;
  • black material, for example, fleece (for finishing), and also white - for making the muzzle and tail.

The sequence of work will be as follows:

  1. Cut out strips of black material to trim the bottom of the sleeves and legs.
  2. Sew each element into a ring, stitch the part in the right place.
  3. Make a hat from two semicircles or four petals.
  4. Make a tail, ears and muzzle.
  5. Connect all the elements.

You can try it on!

Cotton ball suit

Another fun option that will require more time and perseverance, but in this case you do not need to know how to cut or sew. Choose suitable clothes for the base. A turtleneck, vest, T-shirt will do. The outfit is made both with and without sleeves. Buy cotton balls at the pharmacy and simply sew them tightly onto the product. If you don’t want to work with a needle and thread at all, glue them to the base. It's great if you have a heat gun.

Don't forget to shake the costume after decorating. If something falls off, you'll have to sew it on tighter. To make this outfit even more original, paint some of the balls black or brown. Use them for decoration. The pigment must be applied before sewing to the base. The paint must dry thoroughly. You can decorate a hat or knee socks with cotton balls. Instead of balls, you can use pompoms made from white or brown yarn. It will also be very original.

So, you have seen how different you can make a lamb costume with your own hands. The photos given in the article clearly show this. Choose an idea based on the amount of time you can spend making it and your sewing ability. Please your child with an original New Year's outfit. Even a beginner can make a beautiful thing.

The main detail of the New Year's lamb costume is a hand-sewn hat with cute ears. This fun costume is suitable for babies from 3 months to 2 years. You can wear it to celebrate the New Year at home, to a matinee in a nursery and to a New Year's party in the theater.

What you need

The main material of the costume cap is soft plush of white or milky color; faux fur to match the sheepskin is also suitable. You can get by with regular fleece. You will need about 45 cm of fabric.

The lining is a plain soft pink flannel, also about 45 cm.

You can make a sheep costume with your own hands in a different “sheep” color: use dark gray flannel for the top, and make the lining from white plush. It is desirable that the lining fabric be natural, cotton, so that the baby in the hat is comfortable.

Scale the pattern:
the side size of the pink square is 1 inch (2.54 cm)

Let's start cutting

Choose the appropriate size for the lamb costume pattern and glue the paper parts of the cap and strings together, they should be one-piece.

From the main fabric you need to cut:

    2 mirrored side parts of the cap with ties;

    2 mirrored ear parts;

    a rectangular piece in the middle of the cap measuring 9 x 29 cm (9 x 31; 9.5 x 34; 9.5 x 37; 10 x 39 cm for other sizes).

All parts also need to be cut from the lining fabric.

Sewing order

1. You need to start sewing a sheep costume with your own hands from the ears. Place the main and lining fabric pieces face to face in pairs and stitch. Having carefully trimmed the allowances, turn the ears inside out and fold each in half with the lining inside, as shown in the photo.

2. On the sheep costume pattern, two dashes indicate where the ears will be sewn on. Pin them to the upper side parts of the cap with the fold forward and stitch.

3. Then sew the side pieces with ears to the long side of the middle part of the hat. Do the same with the lining details.

4. Place the top of the hat and the lining face to face. Sew along the entire outer edge.

5. In one of the middle seams of the lining, support a small section of the seam about 10 cm and turn the product inside out. Sew the hole by hand.

The DIY New Year's lamb costume is almost ready!

What to add to the suit?

Just a hat may not be enough to create a full-fledged image of a sheep. Choose a soft blouse or vest that matches the color of white plush. If there is no ready-made one in the closet, then sew using the simplest pattern from the same material.

If you choose a dark hat, then according to the natural “sheep” colors, you need to choose a fluffy white blouse with short sleeves. Sleeves and tights should match the cap.

I'm a little sheep

Cotton wool sheep!

The New Year holiday is coming soon and every parent wants their child to look interesting and beautiful.
Today we will make what I think is an interesting and original sheep costume.
The dress from which we will make the suit should be comfortable and loose.

To make a sheep costume we will need:

1 - An old white T-shirt or vest.
2 - Black shorts.
3 - White Hat.
4 - Black stockings - for legs.
5 - Black stockings - for hands.
6 - Cotton balls.

Costume making method:
We will use an old T-shirt or vest to make a suit. We will glue cotton balls onto it with special fabric glue. If there is no glue, then carefully sew the cotton ball onto the T-shirt with white thread.

In this way we sew cotton balls all over the T-shirt.
Don't worry if you have empty spaces, the T-shirt is white and therefore it won't be noticeable.

This costume took 2 hours to make, but if you glue the cotton balls together with glue, it will take less time.

Now you need to make a head rest for the costume. We can find a white cap or sew it ourselves. We also glue cotton balls onto the cap or sew them on. We make the cap without spaces. We attach two long triangular pieces of black fabric to it on the sides - for the sheep these will be the ears.

We sew the cotton balls together, then sew them to the shorts and secure them in the shape of a ponytail.
