How to do deep bikini sugaring

Sugaring deep bikini is the most popular procedure in beauty salons ahead of the holiday season. This method of getting rid of unwanted hair successfully replaces painful waxing and expensive and not always possible laser hair removal.

Before talking about the benefits, it is worth understanding what sugaring is. The procedure involves removing unwanted hair using a paste of boiled sugar. This quite ancient, but undeservedly forgotten method of depilation for a long time has become quite popular today.

Sugaring of the deep bikini area has the following advantages:

  1. To make high-quality pasta, only natural ingredients are used.
  2. Hypoallergenic.
  3. High efficiency. With proper manipulation, hair in the bikini area is completely removed and does not grow back for at least 2 weeks.
  4. Low cost of materials.
  5. Availability for independent use.
  6. Low pain.
  7. A small number of contraindications.
  8. Low morbidity. With proper preparation for the procedure, there are no microtraumas, burns or bleeding.
  9. Slight chance of ingrown hairs.

Contraindications

Sugaring of the bikini area has a number of contraindications:

  1. Presence of mechanical damage (scratches, abrasions, wounds, sun and chemical burns).

Is it possible for pregnant women to have deep bikini sugaring?

Whether it is possible to do hair removal with sugar paste in the bikini area during pregnancy is a controversial question. Most experts agree that bikini sugaring is unacceptable in the first trimester, regardless of the level of pain threshold. Manipulation with a warm mass in such close proximity to the uterus can tone it and provoke spasms and bleeding.

As for the later stages, if sugaring of a deep bikini was a common procedure before giving birth and after pregnancy the pain threshold has not changed, the manipulation can be carried out, but with caution, controlling your sensations. It is best to do hair removal after examination by a gynecologist and in the absence of any complications. If the pain is severe enough, adrenaline in the mother's blood can enter the blood of the fetus and cause complications. Before childbirth, manipulations in the intimate area can trigger the birth process.

You should definitely not choose sugaring for bikini hair removal during pregnancy if you have never used it before.

What are the bikini zones?

The bikini area is usually called the groin area. The classic bikini is the removal of unwanted hair along the panty line in the groin fold. The name "Brazilian bikini" in salons is given to a deep bikini.

The name “deep” bikini means that hair is removed from the entire surface of the groin area: groin folds, pubic area, inner thigh. Total hair removal in the intimate area, including the labia and the area around the anus, is called the “Hollywood bikini” in some salons.

Which pasta to choose

Ready-made pastes differ in degree of hardness. Sugaring of the intimate area is done using mixtures of the following varieties:

  1. Soft. Suitable for fine hair. It melts quickly, so it is used for the bandage method.
  2. Medium density. A universal paste suitable for manual removal of moderately hard hair in the bikini area.
  3. Dense. Universal paste for removing coarse hair manually.
  4. Very dense. It is used for depilation of sensitive skin both manually and with applications.

Sugaring paste contains water, citric acid and sugar. This is caramel. Manufacturers may add other simple sugars, molasses, honey, plant extracts, essential oils and skincare ingredients to their product. The composition of the depilatory mass includes substances that suppress hair growth, for example, walnut extract. High-quality paste can be stored for 3 years.

You should not purchase a sugar mixture that contains preservatives, flavors or other chemicals that can cause an allergic reaction or skin irritation. The color of quality caramel varies from light pink to amber.

Making your own paste is easy: 8 tbsp. l. granulated sugar, 2 tbsp. l. water, mix the juice of half a lemon, bring to a boil under the lid over low heat. Cook until the mixture acquires the color of light beer. When the paste stops bubbling, pour it into a convenient container and allow to cool for 2 hours. It is better to choose a saucepan with a non-stick coating.

Preparation for the procedure

Preparing for deep bikini sugaring begins with growing your hair. Hairs smaller than 1.5 mm will not be captured by the paste. The minimum acceptable hair length for sugaring is 2-3 mm. With this length, the maximum number of hairs will be removed the first time. You should not pull out hairs that grow earlier than others with tweezers. It's better to remove them all at the same time. Next time the hair will grow back more evenly.

There are several rules on how to prepare for sugaring correctly:

  1. To ensure that all hairs are the same size before the procedure, a week before the procedure you should shave your bikini area with a safety razor or use a trimmer.
  2. 2-3 days before hair removal, you need to exfoliate the intimate area to facilitate hair pulling and reduce pain.
  3. It is worth using moisturizers to care for the bikini area to soften the skin, but you do not need to apply any products to the skin immediately before the procedure.
  4. Steaming the epithelium in a bath or sauna makes the procedure easier. This is possible at home. The cosmetologist will use a warm towel.
  5. Before epilating your bikini, it would be a good idea to take a shower and thoroughly clean your skin without using a washcloth. This will protect against inflammatory reactions later.

Anesthesia

The skin in the bikini area, and even more so in a deep bikini, is delicate and thin, and therefore any method of depilation in this area will be painful. To reduce pain, you need to take some measures.

Ice should not be used. Its effect on the skin can cause muscle spasms and aggravate the pain of sugaring. It is better to apply ice after hair removal. You should not drink coffee or alcohol before sugaring if they reduce the pain threshold. When choosing a day for sugar depilation, it is worth considering the phase of the menstrual cycle. The highest pain threshold is observed in the first week after menstruation. During sugaring, you should monitor your breathing. The procedure is least painful at the stage of deep inspiration.

To reduce pain with medication, local anesthetics or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are used.

NSAIDs are used in tablet form 40 minutes before the procedure. These may be Indomethacin, Diclofenac, Ketoprofen, Ibuprofen, Tempalgin and others. The exception is acetylsalicylic acid. Due to a decrease in blood viscosity, taking this drug before sugaring the bikini area can cause “bloody dew” and subcutaneous hematomas. In any case, the use of tablet drugs should be agreed with your physician.

Lidocaine and Prilocaine are used as local anesthetics. These drugs have several medical contraindications, including individual intolerance and side effects, so they cannot be used without a doctor's permission.

Lidocaine is used externally in the form of a 10% solution, irrigating the depilation area, or in the form of subcutaneous or intramuscular injections. Before the drug begins to take effect, you must wait from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on individual sensitivity. Prilocaine acts more slowly but has fewer side effects.

Emla cream and patch for external use contain a combination of Lidocaine and Prilocaine. It has a proven analgesic effect, but for this it is necessary to apply a pressure bandage to the treated surface for an hour, which is somewhat difficult in the bikini area. But the effect lasts 2 hours. To treat the groin area you will need 5-10 g of cream. Emla is not applied to damaged skin.

Another remedy for pain relief from depilation is Light dep gel, the main active ingredient of which is anestoderm. It is applied to the skin several times for 15-60 minutes, depending on pain sensitivity and, if possible, covered with a film.

How to sugaring the bikini area

Even if you decide to do sugaring yourself, at least for the first time you should contact a cosmetologist and master the technique using his example.

In the cabin

In a beauty salon, a specialist performs sugaring in the bikini area using a ready-made certified paste using the manual method or using a bandage. Before the procedure, local anesthesia is used at the client's request. The client makes the decision to take tablet medications independently. In the salon, an experienced specialist will perform depilation of the bikini area of any depth and shape. At home, total hair removal is difficult to do on your own.

Before sugaring, talc is applied to the skin to degrease. In addition, the powder protects the upper layer of the epidermis from adhesion to the paste. Otherwise, the top layer of skin may be torn off along with the caramel mass. Then the master applies the paste in the direction opposite to hair growth, stretching it by 5-10 cm, leaving it for 10-15 seconds and sharply tearing it off according to hair growth. The treated area of skin is treated with an antiseptic and moisturizer.

An experienced master can use the bandage method for the bikini area. In this case, apply the mass, heated to a liquid state, with a special spatula in the direction of hair growth, apply a bandage on top - a tape made of fabric or other material, leave until it cools and tear off in the direction of hair growth. This method is not used at home.

Sugaring bikini at home

Step-by-step instructions on how to do sugaring of a deep bikini yourself manually look like this:

  1. The skin, prepared according to all the rules, must be treated with lotion against hair growth in order to lift it. You can use an antiseptic or anesthetic solution. Then the skin should dry completely.
  2. We apply talc to the entire area that we plan to epilate.
  3. Homemade or purchased paste should be heated in a water bath or in the microwave to a temperature of 35-37°C.
  4. Take a piece of paste measuring 3 by 3 cm and knead it in your hands until it turns whitish.
  5. Apply the prepared mixture to the skin against hair growth with force for better adhesion to the hair. You should not immediately grab an area of more than 5 cm, because without practice, picking the paste quickly may not work and will be painful. You can use a mirror to monitor the process. Leave it for 10-20 seconds.
  6. You need to pick up the edge of the mass and sharply tear it off in the direction of hair growth parallel to the skin. Before this, the skin must be stretched with your free hand to reduce sensitivity.
  7. Remains of sugar mass are easily removed with warm water.

The manual application method is most suitable for beginners and those with coarse hair in the groin. The method differs from the classic one in that the densest paste is chosen for the procedure. It is heated to 35-40°C. The pieces are applied to the skin for 1-2 minutes in the form of applications, and then torn off. The paste manages to adhere well to the hair and removes it easily. You can apply up to 6 pieces of mass at the same time.

Skin care after sugaring

After removing hair with sugar paste, for 12 hours you should not visit the sauna or swimming pool, take a bath, sunbathe in the sun or in a solarium, play sports, apply talc or aggressive cosmetics to the skin. The day after the procedure, you should not wear synthetic or too tight underwear. Violation of these simple rules can lead to redness of the skin, irritation or inflammation.

To care for healthy skin after sugaring, it is enough to wipe it with an antiseptic to prevent infection from entering the hair follicles, and apply a moisturizer. In case of complications, treatment with a product such as Bepanten or Panthenol with a wound healing effect will be required.

If the procedure was not carried out correctly and the hair broke off rather than pulled out, it may later grow under the epithelium. To avoid this, on the 3rd day after hair removal and then 1-2 times a week, you need to peel the bikini area mechanically (with a sugar or salt scrub) or chemically (with organic acids). You can also use products with salicylic acid or special products against ingrown hairs.
