Felt cats. Felt cat with patterns of different sizes How to sew a felt cat pattern

To sew such a cute cat you need very little materials and time. It will make a nice souvenir for friends or as a keychain for keys or a bag for your loved one. The pattern can be enlarged and sewn as a pillow cat.

Paper pattern.
Medium density felt, in this case half an A4 sheet is enough.
Threads are similar in color to felt.
A felt-tip pen (crayon or soap) for transferring the pattern onto felt.
Needle.
Filling (sintepon, padding polyester, cotton wool or soft tissue scraps)
Scissors.
Finished eyes and nose (if there are no ready-made eyes, pieces of white (light beige) and black felt, 2 black beads).
Universal glue (for example, dragon).

Felt was chosen for making a soft toy because it is soft, quite dense, its edges do not fray when cutting, and there is a huge selection of colors and shades. Fleece is also suitable for soft toys, especially large ones.
So let's get started.

Lay the felt out on a flat surface. Trace the pattern along the contour in direct and mirrored form.

Place the pieces right sides inward and sew together. You can use machine stitching or sew by hand. The most commonly used hand stitch is backstitching with a needle. The seam should be laid at a distance of at least 3 mm from the edge of the part. You can sew the toy from the front side, so as not to turn it inside out later, then you should use contrasting threads and sew with a loop (edge) seam.

Sew along the contour of the toy, not forgetting to leave an unsewn part through which you can turn the sewn toy right side out.

Turn out carefully, if necessary, use a stick with a blunt end (pencil or pen without a rod). At this stage, if there are no ready-made eyes and nose, cut out circles for the eyes from white (light beige) felt, sew on the pupils from black beads, and cut out the nose from black felt. Sew on the eyes and nose before stuffing the toy.

To give volume to the cat, you need to take a soft filler, such as padding polyester, padding polyester, or, in extreme cases, cotton wool, or you can use scraps of soft tissue. Using a stick with a blunt end, distribute the filler evenly over the toy, paying attention to the tail and paws. The degree of filling is determined visually; too tight stuffing can damage the seams.

After all the filling has been placed in the toy, you should sew up the hole with neat stitches from the outside.

Attach the finished eyes and nose, if necessary, adjust their position before gluing. Glue with universal glue suitable for gluing fabrics and other materials (for example, Dragon).

To decorate the finished cat, you can use ribbon bows, hats, or nameplates. In this case, the cat simply got entangled in the green ribbon.
P.S. The toy is quite simple to make and can be made together with children 5-6 years old. Joint creativity brings joy to communication, develops perseverance and handicraft skills. And the result is a beautiful soft bright toy, valuable because it was made with your own hands and a piece of your soul was invested.

A charming cat made of felt will not leave anyone indifferent. You can make such a cute souvenir for Valentine's Day with your own hands. To create such toys from felt yourself, you do not need a sewing machine - the parts are sewn by hand. All you need is a few materials and careful work. Master class “Cat with a handbag - do-it-yourself felt toy”

1) Pattern for a toy: The pattern can be copied directly from the computer screen: attach a sheet of paper and draw a translucent outline with a soft pencil (the size of the picture is pre-adjusted in the word program).

2) To sew one cat, you need to cut out the parts in the following quantities:

  • body - 2 pcs.
  • big heart - 2 pcs.
  • handbag - 2 pcs.
  • ear inserts - 2 pcs.
  • belly - 1 pc.
  • muzzle - 1 pc.
  • small heart - 1 pc.
  • ponytail - 1 pc.

3) Place the parts of the body next to each other and sew them together with a buttonhole stitch. We leave an unstitched area of 3-4 cm under the foot to fill the toy with padding polyester. It is advisable not to break the thread; after stuffing, we use it to sew the cat up to the end.

4) We push small pieces of padding polyester using the tips of scissors, first into the ears, head, paws and, finally, fill the tummy with stuffing.

5) Sew up the hole under the foot and break the thread.

6) Drop a drop of glue onto the muzzle and glue a red rhinestone - this will be the nose.

7) Then, using black thread, folded in half, we embroider the antennae and separate the cheeks with a stitch under the nose. All knots should remain on the wrong side.

8) Lubricate the back side of the pink parts with super glue and glue them to the body of the animal.

9) Glue plastic eyes onto glue (they can be replaced with black beads).

10) We select threads to match the felt from which we will sew the handbag. We sew the parts together in the same way as the animal - with a buttonhole stitch. We don’t break the thread at the end, we pass it through the cat’s head and fasten the knot on the other side of the bag.

11) We sew the heart together with red threads, fill it with small pieces of pre-loose padding polyester and sew it up to the end. Place the resulting heart in your purse.

12) To make the cat more elegant, decorate the ear and tail with bows. We select a ribbon to match the handbag and cut 2 pieces of 6 cm each, burning the ends. We fold the ribbon so that the ends overlap each other by a few millimeters, sew the middle with a regular basting stitch and tighten it. The result was a simple bow. It can be sewn or glued to the ear.

Felt makes excellent soft toys because... This is a very pliable and pleasant to the touch material; when cutting, its edges do not fray, and the choice of colors is quite wide. For example, you can make a cute cat out of felt as a gift, or use it as a keychain for a woman’s handbag or a bunch of keys. And if you increase the size of the pattern, you can sew a decorative pillow in the shape of a cat for a nursery or living room.

Cute cat

To work you will need:

  1. Orange felt (medium density);
  2. Paper pattern;
  3. Threads to match the base material;
  4. Sintepon, cotton wool or synthetic padding for stuffing the product;
  5. Scissors;
  6. Finished nose and eyes;
  7. Glue "Dragon".

Work process

We cut out a cat pattern from thick white paper, after drawing a drawing with a pencil.

We lay out a sheet of felt on a flat table surface, apply the pattern, and trace the contours of the part. We put the same pattern next to it, only in a mirror image, and outline it.

Using scissors, carefully cut out both parts of the future toy.

We fold the two parts face inward, sew them together along the edge with a backstitch with a needle, retreating from the edge of the fabric at least 3 mm. You can also use a standard machine seam. Or sew the toy manually from the front side with threads of a contrasting color, using a loop stitch. The last option will be an additional finishing element of the product.

When sewing the parts from the inside out, we leave a small section unsewn so that through it you can turn the product inside out and stuff the toy with soft filling. If you can’t turn out small parts with your hands (legs or tail), we help ourselves with the back of a ballpoint pen or pencil.

If there are no ready-made toy eyes and nose, at this stage they can be sewn to the face, having previously been cut out from scraps of black and white material.

To give the product volume and softness, we stuff it with any filler (sintepon, padding polyester, scraps of soft fabric, cotton wool). We distribute the filler evenly throughout the toy, helping with the back of a pen or pencil. We pay special attention to the tail and legs so that they do not remain empty inside. But you also don’t need to stuff it too tightly, because... The seams may not hold up and come apart in places, and such a product cannot be called soft.

After filling, sew up the missing section of the contour with a hidden seam or on the outside with neat small stitches. We glue ready-made eyes with a nose to the stuffed toy, having previously adjusted their location on the cat’s face.

You can decorate such a toy in different ways: glue a nameplate, attach a bow near the ear or a butterfly on the neck.

Cheerful cat-fey

This toy will cause a lot of positive emotions and will quickly lift your spirits. It’s not at all difficult to make, you just need to have some material on hand with a good mood to boot.

To work you will need:

  1. 1.5 m of gray thin felt;
  2. A piece of knitted fabric in gray tones for the legs and belly;
  3. A piece of black and white leather;
  4. Red ribbon for scarf;
  5. Hollow fiber for stuffing;
  6. 2 eyes;
  7. Threads with a needle;
  8. Scissors;
  9. Sewing machine;
  10. Paper pattern with a design.

Work process

On a sheet of white paper we draw a cat figurine, marking the areas with knitted inserts. Carefully cut out the cat along the contour with scissors, cutting out areas with knitwear (3 legs and tummy).

We place the pattern on a sheet of gray felt, trace it along the contour, not forgetting to mark the holes for the inserts. Cut out the cat and holes for knitted inserts. If the head does not fit on a standard sheet of felt, then it can be cut out separately and then sewn to the body with a connecting seam.

We also cut out the back - the back part of the toy, only without holes, in a mirror image.

You can use any old sweater or golf shirt of a suitable color as knitted inserts. If you don’t find such a thing, then small parts can be knitted separately by hand from gray and white yarn with knitting needles or crochet. The size of the knitted parts should be slightly larger than the holes provided for them so that they can be sewn in neatly. It’s better to cut off the excess after sewing.

From white leather (you can use any other material) we cut out two circles for the eyes. Cut out a nose from black material. We glue the resulting parts, and for reliability we additionally sew them with black thread. We randomly embroider a mouth with a mustache using a stem stitch, making preliminary markings with chalk or a pencil. We also glue or sew a piece of white material onto the tip of the tail.

Now we pin the knitted piece of fabric to the hole on the stomach, and sew it on the machine with threads of a contrasting color (in our case, red threads). We perform the same operation with the pads of the three paws. We cut off all excess knitwear with scissors, stepping back 0.5 cm from the edge. We embroider three claws on each foot with black thread. This completes the work on the front part of the toy.

Now we put the upper part of the toy on top of the lower one. For convenience, we chop off the parts in several places with pins.

We begin to sew along the contour using a sewing machine with gray threads, making a seam allowance of 0.5 cm from the edge. Gradually, when sewing down the parts, we fill the toy with holofiber or other filler, filling it not very tightly.

Having completely sewn the parts together, we tie the threads in a knot and hide the ends in the fabric. If there are any unevenness along the contour, carefully align them by cutting them off with sharp scissors. The cat is almost ready, all that remains is to glue the toy eyes and tie a scarf around his neck.

These toy cats can be made by the whole family; children will especially enjoy the work. Kids can be tasked with cutting and gluing parts. Older children can embroider themselves or sew parts together under the strict guidance of their parents. Moreover, all the presented patterns are quite simple, and the toys are easy to make. Working with your hands will bring you and your children a lot of pleasure, and felt cats will always please the eye. Good mood and creative success to everyone!
