For some people, preparation for the beach season begins several months in advance and in the gym. And for others - on the spot and by digging holes in the sand in order to literally hide there some of the extra pounds that are not so noticeable in a lying position. It turns out there are more humane ways to look great on the beach.

website I learned about tricks that will help hide flaws and highlight advantages, even if by the summer you still haven’t managed to bring your figure to the desired parameters. Check out how easy these tips are to implement.

1. Swimsuit style

The right color can visually balance almost any figure. Dark colors should be used for those parts of the body where you need to hide volume, and light and bright colors where you need to add it. For example, dark inserts on the sides - to visually create a waistline, light top and dark bottom - for a figure type with wide hips and narrow shoulders and small breasts.

In addition, for swimsuits, as for any other clothing, there is a technique with a horizontal pattern, which gives volume, and a vertical one, which elongates the silhouette.

3. Pareo

Many have heard that a pareo can hide figure flaws. But only if used correctly. There are many options how to tie this accessory so that the silhouette looks proportional. For example, for plump girls it is better to tie it higher on the waist, while for thin girls, on the contrary, it is better to tie it lower, on the hips. When choosing a pareo, you should also pay attention to the colors: girls with curvy figures should avoid large prints, while those with miniature figures will suit a medium-sized pattern.

4. Accessories

Small details can distract attention from flaws. Such life-saving accessories can be a bright beach bag, necklace, bracelets or glasses of an unusual design or color. The thing to remember here is that everything is good in moderation. A couple of details are quite capable of coping with the task and bringing harmony to the image. And an accessory such as a wide-brimmed hat will help hide the imperfect condition of your hair, which is especially important during a long stay at sea.

5. Self-tanning

Paleness against the background of many tanned bodies catches the eye unfavorably. Self-tanning helps solve this problem and allows you to visually make your figure slimmer. It also has another interesting advantage. Thanks to self-tanning, the skin appears smoother, this is especially true for the thigh area in women. The product should be applied a few days before going to the beach.

6. Posture

A prolapsed stomach and sides automatically become companions of a rounded back. Moreover, this is typical even for people who are not overweight. A flat, straight back, on the contrary, allows you to place the right emphasis on the chest and lower back. That's why you shouldn't forget about your posture while on the beach.

7. Food

To keep your stomach as flat as possible, you should, firstly, not eat heavily before the beach, and secondly, avoid foods that can cause bloating. These include, for example, peas, cabbage, corn, pretzels, crackers, sausages, as well as carbonated drinks and cocktails with fruit syrups and ice. The latter look especially tempting on a hot day, but another disadvantage is that due to their high sugar content, they give the body a quick boost of energy, and then just as quickly lead to a sharp decrease in energy, leaving a feeling of fatigue and exhaustion.

The best way to quench your thirst is with plain water. And you can snack on nuts - they have the ability to provide greater saturation in small quantities, as well as fruits. It is better to give preference to bananas, watermelons and citrus fruits. And you should avoid apples, pears, grapes and dried fruits, as they can cause gas formation.

8. Towel

A towel on which you plan to sunbathe on the beach also has the ability to create visual effects. To appear slimmer, it is better to give preference to a wide and long large towel.

It’s just the way the society we live in is such that the ideal body for a girl is considered to be a body close to the parameters 90-60-90. And it is absolutely clear that women who are even slightly overweight tend to be quite critical of themselves and often have complexes about this.

And what can we say about people who are really fat? They don't like their photos, they are haunted by the feeling that they look awkward, overweight and ridiculous. And the pose is not the same, and in general... But several centuries ago the ideal of beauty was completely different.

But let's leave thoughts about the past years, let's return to the 21st century, and to our task - we need to conduct a photo shoot of a fairly complete model. How to do it?

Yes, in Russia and the countries of the post-Soviet space, such photography is not as relevant as, say, in the States, where I now live, and where the obesity of the nation is one of the biggest problems, but I think this article can be useful here too.

Since I had very little experience in this kind of shooting, I turned for help to my close friend, also a photographer, who once admitted to me that he liked working with fat models more than with those with flawless skin and body, and who look like they just stepped off the cover of Maxim magazine and found themselves in your studio.

Andrey,” he told me then, “anyone can photograph such models.” As a photographer, and even more so as an artist, I am interested in photographing not only recognized ideals, like Victoria's Secret Angels or Johnny Depp, but in looking for extraordinary beauty in completely ordinary people.

And you know, my first experience, which I remember for the rest of my life, was absolutely amazing! The girl, completely by chance seeing the resulting pictures (usually he doesn’t show raw frames in RAW, my note), simply burst into tears with delight and happiness. All her life she considered herself “too”: too fat, too ugly, too big. And when I saw them, I realized how beautiful she really was, and it was great.

Well, now, let's move directly to his advice - how to photograph fat people correctly?

The first thing you should definitely do is to win over the person and establish contact with him. Talk to him about the upcoming photo shoot, ask what kind of photographs he would like to receive, what or who these photographs are for. Explain to the model that you shouldn’t hide your fatness, you can’t escape it anyway, but you need to find and emphasize the advantages of her figure and personality. And this is what you will do. This is not easy, but if you try, everything will definitely work out.

When communicating, pay attention to little things and details, look for the “highlights” and try to feel the model and her inner world. A girl may have absolutely stunning hands or lips or dimples when she smiles, and she may well have an inner alluring sexuality. All these points are worth noting and remembering; they will definitely come in handy later.

About clothes.

For overweight people, clothes in dark and cool colors are best, and for thin people, in light and warm colors; this is worth remembering, although there is an opinion that light clothes on a light background make you look a little slimmer.

It’s also worth experimenting with clothing styles and colors. For example, using a vertical strip of different colors on clothing or background, you can add a long scarf to the look. This will definitely add lightness and visually elongate the model, adding slenderness.

During shooting.

Fat people should not be photographed in profile or from the front. The 3/4 angle, semi-sideways is the most optimal. Turn the model around in this way, ask her to pull in her stomach and straighten her shoulders.

To make your model appear slimmer, ask her to keep her posture straight and try to reach up rather than inward. Chest forward, shoulders back, and head straight. But the main thing here is that the pose is natural and there is no tension in it, otherwise nothing good will come of it.

If a girl is sitting, ask her to “pull her toes a little”, as if to put her legs “on tiptoes”, this will lengthen her lower leg and add grace to the image. Also, you can’t sit her “feet forward”; it’s better, again, half a turn. In this position, you can ask the girl to throw one leg over the other, but so that they stretch out in one line (you can see this in the photo below).

If your hair is long and straight, be sure to take advantage of this! They should be disbanded, and there are several positive aspects here. First, loose hair will hide the excessive fullness and breadth of the face, and the cheeks will not stand out so much.

And secondly, if you use wind or a fan in the studio, the hair will develop, which again will add dynamism and a feeling of lightness to the frame.

You should not hold your hands near the body, this will visually increase its volume.

If you're shooting full-length, sit down a little, just a little! You can’t take pictures of fat people from below, as this will increase their fatness even more. And if you sit down a little, your legs will turn out longer.

You can hide a double chin by photographing the model from a high point and moving the camera slightly to the side. The same technique can be used if the model has a fairly full face. And if the light is placed at an angle to the face, you can create a shadow that will fall on the nose and make it thinner.

In our case, correctly placed light plays a huge role. The usual daytime absent-mindedness does not suit us. The correct combination would be to darken the figure along the contour, and, on the contrary, to highlight the curvy parts.
It is better to illuminate the model's face with soft reflected light, and in strong sunlight, use a flash.

You can't highlight your face from below - you'll end up with a double chin.

Well, going back to the very beginning, I advise you to look for the “highlights” of the model and highlight them. Believe me, there is a lot of beauty in every person, and your task as a photographer is to find it and convey it through photography. Attention to detail is important - emphasize the advantages, and then you will have not just pictures, but real Photographs, printing on canvas which will decorate any wall.

P.S. Be sure to check out photo shoots of famous plus size models, such as Crystal Renn and Tara Lynn. There you can see with your own eyes how professional photographers work miracles.

Modern fashion proclaims thin, slender girls as beautiful. They strut down catwalks and appear on the covers of fashion magazines, driving plus-size beauties into depression. Bright and colorful photos of skinny models look like works of art, but taking such photos is not that difficult. It is much more difficult to photograph real girls of real sizes, who differ from the recognized canons of beauty.

Overweight ladies are not only overweight, but also have a bunch of complexes. Of course, they differ in figure from slender models, but even in plump figures there is beauty worthy of sincere admiration. However, persuading such beauties for a photo shoot is not so easy. They are unsure of themselves and come up with a lot of excuses just to avoid becoming the subject of filming. To them, this activity seems like a waste of time: the photos will still come out mediocre and will not please not only the audience, but also themselves. As a rule, such ladies are rarely satisfied with their photographs, but perhaps it is not always the sitters. Sometimes they come across photographers who simply failed to show their beauty to the world.

In order to get attractive photos of a plump girl, you need to be able to shoot such an exclusive model correctly. It is important to be able to help her overcome her fear of the camera - many consider it to be too strict a judge, who cannot be won over to their side by any means. That’s why some plump people don’t even try.

Secrets of beautiful shooting of plus size models

First of all, you need to establish emotional contact with the girl. Many people start a photo shoot with a tea party, during which they can have a pleasant chat and get to know each other a little. Invite the model to discuss the details of the upcoming photo shoot, talk about her tastes and expectations - this conversation will help both of you get in the mood for work.
During the meeting, the girl must be carefully, but discreetly examined. Having made your professional conclusions, immediately share them with your sitter: tell her that you will focus on her charming smile with dimples, bright eyes or cute freckles. Explain that everything that she considers to be her shortcomings can easily be hidden by properly constructing the frame.

Selecting an angle

Most often, a photo shoot begins with a portrait. Good pictures are obtained if the camera is aimed slightly at the model from above. This way the look turns out to be more touching, the double chin is hidden, and the face seems more elongated. And one more thing - the cleavage appears in the frame from the most advantageous angle.
Pay attention to the choice of hairstyle - loose hair will help hide excessive roundness of the face. And it’s better to shoot half-turned - this technique has long been known and is widely used due to its effectiveness.
Don't forget about the basics of photography. Anything that is closer to the camera will appear large in the photo. In our case, we’ll have to do the opposite - this also works well, you’ll see!

Choice of clothes

Fortunately, photographers and stylists have long identified the best clothing colors for plus-size ladies. These are vertical stripes of all colors and sizes. By the way, if a model refuses stripes in her clothes, you can try to make her slimmer with the help of such a background.
You can also use a scarf - tie it so that the ends hang down to your knees. This technique will also make your figure slimmer and more toned.
In an effort to create a sporty image, many models resort to the now fashionable sports leggings, but the effect in the photo will be the opposite. Prevent your model from making this mistake.
A retro-style look is an unusual solution that may appeal to dreamy girls. This style is perfect for chubby women, making them practically pin-up models!
Use long and loose sleeves - they will hide the fullness of your arms, tighten your figure and make your photos more successful.

Choosing a pose

A successful pose will easily hide figure flaws; let's choose those that suit us in the case where the model is a plump girl. Posture should be straight - this is the basis of everything; additional slimness can be achieved by standing on your toes.

Pull your shoulders back, push your chest forward, and, of course, pull your stomach in - the pose is standard, but too drill-like. Play with the tilt of your head, the placement of your hands - and you will get a great photo!
You need to be careful when photographing a sitting plus-size model. The folds on the abdomen must be hidden behind hands or objects (pillow, soft toy, etc.). And also try, when sitting, ask the model to lean back, as if stretching. This will help reduce your tummy, but be careful with the side folds. If her legs are in the frame, the girl should pull up her toes to visually lengthen her lower leg.

Try not to have any parts of the body that are in close contact when doing poses. For example, strongly bent elbows or simply lowered arms and pressed to the body. Due to these pressures on each other, the volumes will be flattened and the model will be enlarged even more. Do open poses. And if you still use such poses, photograph strictly from the side of reduction, not enlargement.

If filming takes place in a studio, you can use a fan. Developing hair will add lightness and grace to the image of a plump lady.
Remember that you cannot photograph plus-size girls from below. This angle will make their figure even heavier.
Shoot from above and remember that sometimes striving for the best can be the enemy of the good. You can take a great photo simply by asking your model to look and reach up a little towards the camera. Without taking intricate and difficult poses. If you want to get something original, try constructing a frame in some unusual way or using a non-trivial background.
The curves of a woman's body in any size look feminine and attractive. Catch such a line - and a good shot is already in your hands!
If there are several people in the photo, “cover” the fuller model with someone who has a slimmer figure. The photo will only benefit from this.

Lighting

It is best to photograph plump models in the studio, under artificial lighting, with which you can completely correct the image. For example, to shade part of a figure, hiding its true dimensions. Natural lighting will not give you such opportunities, so it is better to refuse a photo shoot in the open air.
Resist the desire to highlight your face from below - this way you will emphasize, and maybe create with your own hands, a double chin, which obviously will not beautify the lady.
Paint with light. By turning the girl halfway away from the main light source, you can successfully hide the “heavy” contours of the figure, shading those places that need it most. This angle is also good for portrait photography.

Photography for a plus size bride

Wedding photos are the most important pictures for every girl. On such an important day, everyone is worried, and those who are not confident in themselves because of their full figure tend to worry more than others. An experienced photographer knows that it is best to photograph a plump girl with a long-focus lens (distance of at least 85 mm). Use all our tips - and your bride will receive magnificent photos in which she looks simply beautiful!
Remember that the result of a photo shoot largely depends on how trusting and pleasant the relationship between the model and the photographer is. Admire your subject, highlight her best features, and make her feel beautiful. Find sincere words that will encourage her and make her believe in your attractiveness. After all, every woman is beautiful when she is happy! Especially if the photo is processed by us, as in the example below (hover over the photo to see it before processing).

Good luck and amazing shots!

If you don't fit into the generally accepted ideal of 90-60-90, this is absolutely no reason for complexes. But it’s not enough to reassure yourself that in past centuries, curvy girls were the ideal of beauty - modern people need to be able to show themselves.

First of all, you don’t have to hide your fatness - it won’t escape you anywhere. And here highlight with a beautiful dress, a sundress and even a swimsuit are completely possible - this will highlight the advantages of the figure.

A plump girl should not be photographed in profile or full face: it is best to become half-sided, three-quarters, straighten your shoulders and draw in your stomach. An even posture will give you a slimmer appearance. But there is no need to strain: the poses should be natural. Hands should not be placed along the body - this will make curvaceous figures visually increase.

For those who have long and luxurious hair, it would be a shame not to take advantage of this. Open them up - this will help hide not only fullness, but also wide cheekbones and full cheeks. During a studio photo shoot, use a fan to make your hair flutter - the pictures will come out light and original.

Since the mid-70s of the last century, the standards of classical proportions of the female body have changed. With the advent of the first teenage model, slender, narrow-hipped likenesses of the Barbie doll, which in English-speaking countries were called “pale sickness,” came into fashion. Accordingly, the poses for the photo shoot have changed to suit them - protruding ribs are not painted. Large, wide-hipped, full-breasted women with the figure of a cello, capable of giving birth and breastfeeding strong offspring, have faded into the background in the eyes of fashion trendsetters and men.

The underrated beauty of body lines

The science of loving yourself as you are is not easy. Nobody knows who the invented standards dominate, they force us to exhaust them with diets. And men are reflexively drawn to girls who are considered fat. The models completely obey the photographer’s commands: only he can objectively assess the success of the pose from the outside. Even an amateur can hide the figure flaws of a model of any build if he knows the secrets of photography. Without the naturalness of the girl on the podium, the free plasticity of movement, he is powerless.

Poses for a photo shoot for overweight girls emphasize the attractiveness of the model, and disguise excess. The double chin will disappear if the head is pulled forward or the model leans on her hands. Shooting from an overhead angle will hide this flaw, emphasizing others. The viewer perceives photographs from the upper and lower points as staged. Looking closely turns a photograph into a part of everyday life.

Full length shot

Static poses for photo shoots for full-length girls are more difficult to perform for a model and a photographer. The position of the legs can negate the expressiveness of the body and facial expressions in a full-length portrait. Standing like a tin soldier will not be difficult. The legs erase the static and set the figure in motion. Parts of the body work, creating the integrity of the image even outside the gaze of the lens.

A frozen figure will not be saved by cuteness and the contours of the curves of the body. Living nature is replaced by immobility. Compare the top and bottom pictures. S-shaped bend of the torso, legs spaced wider than shoulders, toes turned inward. The position of the body is pretentious, but the photo is alive with movement. The contrived composition wins next to the woodenness of the frozen figures. As soon as you indicate the dynamics with a tilt of the head, a slight turn of the shoulders, a predatory bend of the hips, a readiness for the step of the feet, life will sparkle and splash into the viewer’s eyes.

Curvy ladies prefer the smooth movements of a predator, when the lines of the shoulders and hips do not coincide, are turned at an angle, and are in different planes. The legs do not represent two straight lines, but are often crossed. The feet are located at an angle to one another. The mismatch of the lines hides the fullness and animates the image.

Hide to highlight and highlight

Interesting poses for a photo shoot for overweight girls from the back. A full-length shot or a ¾ shot with a partial profile designation encourages the viewer to imagine the full image of the art object, to imagine what is not included in the frame. The deflection of the spine and the designation of the movement of the arms emphasize the integrity of the image.

Freedom of hands is relative. The rules of artistic photography do not allow hands to hang limply. Hands are an active, significant art object. Sudden movements are not allowed. The second taboo applies to the open palm. The back of the hand or fist is shown, or the hand is hidden with folds of clothing or a pocket. The hand in a nude photograph attracts attention no less than the naked body.

The female body is the focus of smoothly curved lines. The chest is full of air, the back is arched like a panther before a jump. The legs are turned relative to each other at an angle like a ballerina's step. And the mysterious life of the hands accompanying the smooth turn of the body relative to the camera.

Let's sit down in front of the lens

The sitting position is insidious in that folds appear on the sides and stomach. It is preferable to stretch your legs out or cross them. This way they visibly lengthen and hide the volume of the hips. Legs at different heights look impressive, like open scissors. Full-face photography is undesirable. A half-turn with pointed toes wins. And avoiding parallel lines as in a vertical pose.

An inverted belly and heavy chest will highlight the advantages of a curvaceous figure. The correct placement of the hands will indicate the waist. The palms on the hips will visually narrow it; the closer the fingers are brought together, the feeling of a thin waist intensifies. Crossed arms over the chest accentuate the full bust. A flirtatious curve of the spine will hide unnecessary folds.
